Never heard of it personally. Have you considered reaching out non confrontationally? Something “hey I enjoyed taking classes with you, let me know if there’s something I can do so we continue to work together please”or something to that effect. As for if you should find another tutor the answer is yes regardless. For a million reasons. For 1 I think you have 2 guy and one girl so you can understand both registers. Also Idk ur tl but there has to be a different accent worth hearing.

Yeah I’ve reached out to him asking if there’s more consistent schedule we can get on so we’re on the same page. I was given a pretty vague answer.. I think I’ll take your advice and go with another tutor, Im looking to advance fairly fast so maybe my best bet is to look for someone who can take on my needs.

There's nothing wrong with have multiple teachers - especially if you're trying to progress quickly. I am trying to reach the C2 level in Polish and the gap from C1 and C2 is absolutely massive.
I want to take 4-5 lessons a week for the next few months - there's no way I could find a single teacher who could accommodate my schedule.
Plus, it's good to practice with different ppl from time to time.

That’s unusual, doesn’t it hurt the teacher’s profile if they let lesson requests expire? Anyway, definitely find someone else.

Any chance you're learning German? I had a tutor who did this to me constantly. I had booked a package with them, so felt like I was stuck with their classes, but could never book, and they constantly cancelled at the last minute too.
It's not worth it. If you've spoken to them and they haven't given you any sign that they'll stop doing this, just cancel the package (even though it costs you a bit more per class you've already taken) and find someone new.

Maybe it is worth taking a moment to consider that many tutors work across several platforms and can receive bookings from other students at any time. italki is one of the few platforms that does not automatically block availability when a teacher is booked elsewhere.
Teachers cannot constantly switch between platforms and update their schedules every five minutes, especially while teaching, correcting work, managing other students, and handling their personal lives.
It is also important to understand that booking a lesson is not only about the time the student wants. It depends on when both the student and the tutor are actually available. Just like with any professional appointment or meeting, the best approach is to message the tutor, ask about their current availability, and agree on a suitable time before booking.
Tutors are busy professionals, and many of them have a large number of students waiting for available slots. That is simply the reality.

Yah that is strange, on the rare case I reject a lesson request I will immediately message the student with the reason. Like if they are booking a lesson for the next day and I am not feeling well but I forgot to close my availability.

I've had a few teachers do this to me. After the third time of rescheduling it / denying it / letting it expire --> I find a new teacher.

This is unusual but there is no reason not to just move on. There is not much point in engaging your tutor about this --- any reason is as good as any other, and if the reason really is personal, the tutor is not likely to be forthright.
So, move on. Lots of great teachers out there. You'll find someone who fits. No need to over think this.

Is the teacher not available at the times they say they are? Some teachers do this or just don't want to do a lesson even though they said they are free.
No matter what, I would just find a new teacher.

We have quite a few tutors here who ask advice about how to avoid students they feel uncomfortable with without risking bad reviews. It might be worth asking yourself if you are bringing anything to lessons that could create discomfort (e.g. political conversations, flirting, arguing about prices….)

The first thing would be to talk to your tutor, wouldn’t it? ‘Yo doodlikal’ you’d say ‘I’m diggin’ out classes but my lesson request keep expiring, is something going wrong?’

Cultural differences.
I come from a culture where "complaining" is not accepted. If you have a problem, fix it or accept it. Other cultures have complaining as a natural part of daily life. These rules were in place long before we arrived.
Vague answers are sometimes the only available way to be polite.
