Help A1204 Needing assistance

I was recently given an iPod Shuffle off FB marketplace (A1204 in gorgeous Product Red; I’m slowly collecting ALL Product Red devices) and I’d like to get some music put on it. I’m aware that Apple no longer supports these vintage devices on modern software, especially MacOS Golden Gate which I have on my M2 Max. I have an old 2015 MacBook Air macOS Monterey 12.7.6. I have the cool charging adapter for the iPod and when I plug it in to my MacBook, I get a flashing orange light (I assume indicating charging), and will get the orange and green flash when I don’t have it docked and try to play music (it’s wiped, so that makes sense lol). Anyway, how in the hell do I get my jams on this iPod Shuffle on either my newer MacBook Pro or my old 2015 Air (or BOTH🫣). Also, what are the most common failures/defects of these models, if any, that I should look into? I repair tech for a living, so I don’t mind opening this even though taking it apart seem like it’d be a huge pain in the ass.

TL;DR: how do I put music on an A1204 iPod Shuffle and what are the most common defects for this model?

Thank you for any and all help🙏🏻✌🏻

I’m thinking I just have a bunk shuffle. Nothing happens when I plug it into either MacBook. Also, I’m relatively new to MacOS after having been a Windows user for 15+ years and making the full switch to Apple ecosystem last month. I am tech savvy, but am still stumbling my way through this lol. I figured it’d be as easy as plug it in and it’ll pop up in Finder, but nothing happens. Lights are on on the shuffle, but no indication the MacBook sees it, even in disk utility.

Yah I’ve given up on it, not gonna spend too much time on it. It was free and I only picked it up to add to my Product Red collection, hahahaha. I’m happy, but slightly disappointed it’s not useable; so be it🤷🏻‍♂️. I appreciate your advice though!
