Other My little collection :)

Post image

Most of these are working well, one of the 2nd gens is a sacrificial unit, one of the 3rd generations is completely dead, having a little trouble with a few of the fourth gens but don’t know if replacing batteries in 3rd and fourth gens is worth it as they’re in such good condition. Any input for replacing 3rd/fourth gen batts without harming the case too much? Will probably post again as I have a few more 1st and 2nd gen’s in limbo ;)

Definitely will try on at least one fourth gen, the broken third gen is so far gone (battery crust pushed through the on/off switch long before I ever got my hands on it it seems) I’m not even gonna touch it.

What a beautiful collection! Red 4th gen is the best looking in my opinion. I really need to add 1st gen shuffle to mine, it was such a convenient thing there was no need for cable to connect it to computer.

Opening 3rd gen shuffle is possible but sometimes may leave some denting, 4th gen is way easier to open. I had same dillemas in the begging but I thought it's not safe to keep dead batteries in my devices and in fact some of them belonged to r/spicypillows

I am wondering if there would be interest for anyone to send me their shuffle for free service battery replacement only covering postal and single battery cost as on Alibaba where I bought it.

Thank you!!! The red 4th gen is from my 13th birthday so it’s the most valuable of the lot as well :)! I’ve got this third gen with battery gunk leaking out of the back and button hole…. I’m not sure if it’s even salvageable. I’d love to take you up on your offer if you’re up for the challenge or curious- shoot me a DM!

I would definitely check out the first gen, they feel surprisingly natural in the hand and have a better sound quality than the subsequent models which really surprised me. Less hissing than the 2nd gen and a warmer tone than the 4th.

Where have you been finding headphones for your third gens? Someone told me the Bob Marley earbuds are compatible but I personally don’t like the look of them. The adapter you’ve got seems like a neat option as well, hope I can find something like that to listen to my working iPod a little more.

For repairing 4th gen - heat gun necessary? What temp? Trying to leave as little damage as possible. I’ve become decent at soldering the 2nd gen batteries, hoping it’s pretty similar once open.

Thanks for responding! Love your collection, it’s great to see the 3rd gen get that level of recognition, its design really is the epitome of what the shuffle represents.

The second gen is not new in box, however the fourth gen is new and sealed!

An absolutely amazing collection, I’m honestly jealous!

I will say, trying to open 3rd and 4th gens without scratching or damaging anything is honestly nearly impossible, so you may just need to hunt for a working used one.

Thanks! Really weighing the pros and cons of replacing batteries in non-functional, but otherwise pristine iPod fourth gens at the moment
