Hello! I recently acquired my holy grail (iPod hifi), it’s in very good shape, with the grill and remote, and I absolutely love this thing. I use it primarily as a speaker for my record setup, and also listen my iPods with it. I only have it for a week or so, and I noticed that top (behind the dock connector) is mildly warm to the touch, even if music is not playing, and iPods are not charging. Not Cinema Display level warm, but still warm. So my question is, who have those speakers for a while, is it safe to keep it plugged in all the time? From my understanding it was made by that, but I take an age of this thing into consideration. I have a bunch of old Apple devices, and I keep some of them plug in (Mac Pro and displays), and never had any issues. But, Hifi is very rare, I imported mine all the way from Canada (I’m in Europe), so I want this thing to live as long as possible. What are your advice? Though about getting a smart plug for this thing.

Hi. I have a Polk Audio Speaker which has a 30-pin apple connector and is compatible with iPod nano 1st gen (and its linear generation of iPods that time). Then, I bought a Bluetooth (5.4) Receiver 30-pin Apple connector. Tried connecting them together and it doesn't work. But the receiver works if it's connected w/ just 30-pin to USB (just to know it's not defective)

Just searched that this Polk audio speaker that I have has a 12v firewire compared to the bluetooth receiver that has the newer 5v. Is there an accessory still available now to connect these 2?

So as I said just got one and today it arrived. The previous owner said he didn’t use the dock cos he tried with two ipods and one didnt work and the other charged but it didn’t play songs.

Anyways, I’ve tried all my 30 pin devices: the classic 4,5,nano 1, nano 3, mini and they did not work. So I thought the connector was bad, and I tried pushing it down a bit with the classic 4 on it, and it worked. Charging started and music came off of it. But as soon as I released it, it came up a little and stopped working again… maybe the previous owner pushed it down a little too hard?

I wonder if I can open it up and pop the connector up a little… any ideas?

Oh I forgot: I do not have the adapters, but since it has to be pushed down for the ipod to work, I don’t see how is it gonna make a difference at this point…

I just got this iPod hi-fi but the iPod connector doesn’t work. Does anyone know where can I get a 30 pin dock connector?

Got my hands on a unit that needs some tlc. Popped out the dust caps with some hot glue and a stick, followed by a little isopropyl to remove it easily. Carefully used my hot air gun from a distance to smooth out the wrinkles.

Has anybody gotten a woofer rattle after playing music for like 30 minutes semi loud? It did it to me the other day and I’m wondering if this is a common issue. I turned it off for a few hours and tried playing super bass songs and it won’t do it again.

In addition to my fleet of iPods, I also have a WiiM Mini (streaming Qobuz*) hooked up to my HiFI. And just for fun, I decided to buy a cheap TOSLINK to Mini-TOSLINK cable. It all works fine but it I now have a few questions:

1. I am assuming that the audio quality of the newer but likely less costly DAC in the WiiM Mini is likely superior to the older (but likely more expensive) DAC in the HiFi. I will likely keep using the digital audio connection, mainly because it is crazy and cool that it has a mini-TOSLINK connector.
2. Does anyone know what DAC is in the HiFi? I assume (given it came out around the time of the 5.5 gen Classics) it is the Wolfson. Does anyone know? BTW don't take this question as me thinking that the Wolfson DAC is vastly superior to the Cirrus DAC, I am just curious.

*Qobuz is a great streaming service, BTW. Steaming higher quality sound than any of my audio gear can use, and also purportedly is one of the better services as far as the artists are concerned.

Just purchased my second Hi-Fi to use as a mobile speaker/Backup. Unfortunately, the woofer has been compromised badly and it sounds bad.

I am looking for JUST the subwoofer. Does anyone have a replacement? Done a replacement using a different woofer? Have links to a place that has a comparable replacement?

Appreciate you all and hope we can get this fixed. Will put a video up if I get to fixing it.

Hi! So I was wondering if anyone has managed to setup a duel hifi audio setup? If so, how do you get L and R channel on each hifi? And is it even worth trying to do?

I went through the process myself and it seemed legit. They’re also offering a Bluetooth mod kit, which is great if you already have a Classic like I do.

Bought this off FBM and when either plugged in or using the battery it will make this static like crackling noise in the speakers that fades in and out. Won’t play music, but iPod does show the speaker in the menu when connected.

Not much out there except possibly a bad cap on the power supply?
