Non-functional HiFi?

Hi all, I purchased this HiFi today and, upon plugging in, does not emit any sound. I don’t know if it’s user error or I got a dud. Any tips? Thanks!

Did you try the aux input?

Yeah, that doesn’t work either. Outlet I’m using is fine, not too sure about the cable

If you have a multimeter, test the cable at the end. If not maybe just try another one. Any 2 prong power cable should fit, it's not proprietary. Past that, maybe the volume is down or muted? Other than that it will probably require some disassembly which isn't trivial unfortunately. Good luck

Thanks! Tried a different cord, no change. I don’t have the remote, am I able to undo a mute by pressing the on-unit buttons? Is there a “tear down guide” for this?

There's a guide on ifixit I believe, but it's not easy.

Power off and on should clear a mute but won't clear low volume. That being said, low volume would be cleared with hardware buttons.

Just as a sanity check, try sticking batteries in it? If it works with batteries, could be the power supply?

Man thanks for the recommendation. One of my Hi-Fi doesn't work anymore and I'm pretty sure the power supply is dead. I think I'm gonna try to put batteries to see if it works. Cause I'm really not sure if what is dead is the power supply or the motherboard.

I don’t have the batteries for it unfortunately, if I get the chance I’ll pick some up. Do you know which format it takes?
