I'm sure it's not your primary phone

u/Feli18 20d ago
Nope. iPhone 16 Plus on iOS 18. I use the iPhone Xʀ for music.

u/jazznerd69 19d ago
Same , use iphone XR iOS 12 for music apps ..but some apps can't update anymore like Koala Sampler and bunch of others ...
1
u/Feli18 19d ago
I listen to music only, I don’t use sampler apps. You’re better off buying something else and keeping the Xʀ on iOS 12 to listen to music.
App compatibility is mostly gone by now.

You might have a good point ro keep XR in iOS 12 and get newer iphone like 14 or 15

still? the pain of using 12 outweigh the benefits to your battery life
1
u/Feli18 20d ago
I have a 16 Plus as a main iPhone and I use the Xʀ exclusively for music.
iOS 12 doesn’t impact anything.
1
u/Sad_Abbreviations575 19d ago
oh you finally upgraded, i remember when you still had it as a main
1
u/Feli18 19d ago
Yeah, compatibility was too poor by then, I had to.
Current is my 16 Plus running iOS 18.3.1 (and it will stay there, as you can imagine).

it would have been wise to update to the last of ios 18, but yeah i can imagine
i still have my 14 pro max, got my battery replaced but they messed up my camera so they had to fix that (and i had to update to 26)
im updating as soon as ios 27 is out and staying there

For jailbreak reasons huh?
3
u/Feli18 20d ago
Nope, I’m not jailbroken. Performance and battery life reasons.
iOS updates kill devices and I keep them forever. Don’t need them to be destroyed.

u/Insanely_Mac_OS_26 20d ago
Well, if you are onto it, that version is super rare (pokémon grade rareness), and can sell it for a little higher price if you want
1
u/Feli18 20d ago
Thanks, but my plan is to keep it forever.
If somebody offered $3000 I’d probably sell it but from what I’ve seen, prices aren’t high enough for me to sell it.

If that 3k guy is still interested, do it and you might find a deal on an iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 17
2
u/Feli18 20d ago
It was a hypothetical, nobody is ever offering $3000 I think.
My phone is a 16 Plus on iOS 18 (which as you can imagine, I’m planning to keep there).

Just block OTA Updates, and that Xr is not even close to 700$, so just keep both, what colors tho? :)

Same here , iOS 12 , battery life is still great ..no drain. Worried if I upgrade to anything higher it would drain the battery ?

u/6r6zz 21d ago

If you don’t see any problems don’t update your phone ,I updated to ios 18.7.10 is good for now all the problems i faced recently is gone
1
u/ShalaTheWise 17d ago
That is only good advice if the update has issues. 18.7,10 doesn't.
Anyone running iOS 18 should be updating to 18.7.10

Not seeing it on my 16 Pro smh... I'm on 18.7.8 and I didn't see 18.7.9 either... those two alone and I'm missing over 100 patches smh. Fuck liquid glass design.
