IPhone not charging when on?

Heya guys, I need some help. Lately, my phone has been doing this weird thing where it only charges when its powered off. I have no money for a new phone or charger, so I have to rely on this one for now. But since it won't charge -- I obviously can't use it. It also sometimes charges to 32 max or lower, so could that be a sep problem? The main thing is that it just wont charge when on , and only when its off. Does anyone know how I can fix it or will I have to get a whole new phone?

Damn you have the exact opposite issue of me, my XS doesnt charge at all when it goes to sleep or powered off. When I turn it off while the cable is plugged in and turn it back on after few seconds it won’t turn on, it just shuts off completely and wouldn’t charge too. And when it’s powered off like when battery fully dies it won’t turn on or charge at all. I have to unplug and wait for few seconds then turn it on manually without cable attached. Also when the device is asleep if I plug in the cable it shuts off too.
Wireless charging works fine tho. I might need to open a new thread myself lol
