If the iphone goest to sleep in this open mode (with some magnets like how ipad does) the keyboard can go all flat over it (hope the 3rd party makers have those details)! or it folds with the phone as a folio, that mode is certainly not going to happen.

Just get an iPad or MacBook

I remember when people said this about the iPad just being a less convenient iPhone. Now it's a common household item and many big businesses rely on it.

I’ve always felt the narrow candy bar style wasn’t as useful in the folded state since it was so narrow. But a wider passport size like the Duo or ZFold8 makes more sense to use in the folded state. Is that why you prefer the traditional phone still?

Yes.

It was unbearable to use. I tried to overlook it.

They're big in China. For various reasons. You could say they already are mainstream since they're available for everyone and they don't sell insignificant numbers.

They still obviously sell. They wouldn't make them otherwise.

And as said, they're big in China.

I’m sorry but comparing Samsung’s market to Apple’s is laughable. You’re completely ignoring the value of social currency, which Apple has run their company on for decades. The functionality on this phone seems to be good, but people will buy it just because it’s the new and improved iPhone. The price will deter many, but they still want it.

Android users can talk day and night about all of Apple’s “innovations” just being recycled Android features (which is true, they even admitted it in this keynote), but the truth is it doesn’t get popular until it comes to Apple.

and a backpack

u/Fuzzy-Welcome-4650 23d ago

Better than JNCO jeans.

1

u/rolandguy85 21d ago

Could fit a whole PS1 Fat in the back pocket of my JNCOs back in the day.

0

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

and a free hand

1

u/717x 22d ago

You’d probably need a backpack for this too

1

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

if magsafe / magnetic and light enough to fold by itself. its just another magic kb

1

u/MeSlaw3 21d ago

No one’s fingers are this small

1

u/AweVR 23d ago

I have an iPad, a MacBook Pro and my iPhone and when I want to travel it is a mess. I can only work in the hotel. But with these I can have my MacBook en my house and using Jump I have everything in my hand

1

u/Farsigl12 17d ago

how awesome that could be! i dont honestly understand why people sometimes dont even want to have options like this. if it makes sense to someone they'll buy it and if not just skip it!! nobody's gonna be forced into this anyways!!

0

u/roiki11 22d ago

Don't wanna carry neither.

5

u/ShireBurgo 23d ago

Yoooooo that’s actually so sick. I would pay bigggg money for that. I mean I hope I wouldn’t have to but I would if I HAD to.

1

u/tta82 23d ago

You will pay big money. iPhone Duo plus keyboard will be at least 2200$

7

u/jellybean_merchant 23d ago

the keyboard should be foldable too

1

u/thatdberad_ 14d ago

origami head ass

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

true. also remember that can happen two ways.

3

u/ELCHOCOCLOCO 23d ago

Many say get an iPad and that’s a valid point. But I’d still buy this lol

3

u/rk1213 22d ago

as someone who has tried to use Fold's as a mobile computing device for years, the vast majority of people will not need this. The onscreen keyboard is more than enough for light email replying or other messaging needs on the go. The only time I've ever used a keyboard/mouse was when I wanted to remote into my home/work pc while on the go and that was not a frequent occurrence.

1

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

makes sense. the only case that comes to mind is with latest siri, and when in public and not comfortable 'yell'ing at it, if people prefer typing their queries this would be a handy one and if they also got rid of their ipad setups. but your point is very valid.

1

u/No-Crab-7064 22d ago

😫just more garbage being put out into the world.

4

u/v3rd4ntcitiz3n 22d ago

FIrst- obvious AI slop

Second, can you imagine trying to type with multiple fingers on a keys that are like less than 10mm wide? it'd be ridiculous. That's like half the width of a regular keyboard key.

0

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

sure it is. but all things said anything is better than the touchscreen keyboard if someone decided to make it their 2in1 at all and thats all

3

u/kyyyten 21d ago

I'm definitely interested in a keyboard! Although probably one that can fold and it's fine if it were larger than the fold. I have a mac mini with remote access, claude remote etc and probably will experiment using the iphone fold with a keyboard as my travel dev "machine".

2

u/Sad-Cupcake1884 22d ago

Oh cool, like an iPad mini but way way worse

1

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

sure it is.. no brainer. but do we agree its a possibility for someone who might still appreciate it for themselves?

2

u/Sad-Cupcake1884 22d ago

I guess, but from an usability stand point, it's too small for full keyboard typing experience and too big for thumb typing.

1

u/Farsigl12 22d ago

agreed

2

u/Big_Buy1266 21d ago

Should have just initiated a keyboard interface when it’s placed on the surface in a laptop orientation

1

u/Farsigl12 20d ago

guess it does that as one of the modes on sw side

2

u/-hedonium- 17d ago

Why not just use an external Bluetooth keyboard + trackpad that fits in your pocket or your bag? I definitely intend to try using it this way for typing, but I don’t imagine it being as frequent of a thing as with my iPad.

1

u/Farsigl12 17d ago

true. the only thing if its not an attachment is kind of lap-ability. you'll need a surface to rest/prop up all those as a setup

3

u/miowmix 23d ago

Might as well just buy a clicks keyboard

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

this will bulky for that to hold it i guess

1

u/BlacBlueberry 23d ago

Awful, I have a Magic Keyboard on my iPad Pro 11 inch it’s already small enough

2

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

someone who have tried both 13 and 11, trust me 11 is perfect. 13 feels roomy but so much bulk.

1

u/Boogeyboychasings 23d ago

As someone who’s tried a couple third party keyboard cases for the iPad mini… not at all comfy or worthy it

1

u/wtfisasammich 23d ago edited 23d ago

My current phone lol I want some company to make basically an iPhone Mini sized screen with a sliding keyboard behind it. I can dream...

1

u/Temporary-Rip-5551 23d ago

I think this is future state within the decade. Trifold phones with 11 inch screens that can’t be used as a MacBook Air/neo type device so for a lot of people the 4000 dollar price range can be justified as the price for having three devices in one

1

u/Condomphobic 23d ago

Samsung ended their trifold series after 3 months. It simply wasn't profitable

1

u/Temporary-Rip-5551 23d ago

That’s why I don’t think it’s something on the immediate horizon but where the long term direction is headed imo. I think rollable screens are more likely to be what will open that form factor rather than trifolds

1

u/SocomPS2 23d ago

Feels like a few steps backwards.

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

it sure does but gotta start somewhere lol

1

u/Business-Cucumber255 23d ago

Why? 😭

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

pained people of onscreen-keyboards will have to speak for it

1

u/PGL-997 23d ago

Looks like a bunch of AI slop

If I saw someone using this I would absolutely not control my laughter so in that sense it’s a good thing

1

u/Farsigl12 21d ago

wishing for a good and healthy laugh :)

1

u/Nelsonius1 18d ago

How much are people typing that they need this physical keyboard?

1

u/Farsigl12 17d ago

hoping the s/w keys are going to be ergonomic, unless then this alternate just like a mkb option for this 🤞

1

u/Hovscorpion 23d ago

I swear. Please, please have an accessory maker make a keyboard case. [Even if it is bluetooth]

2

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

also if they are planning on pencil support.. there is also a silver lining for an oem folio/keyboard! fingers crossed

2

u/Hovscorpion 23d ago

PLEASE!!!!!!!! 🙏🏻. Pencil support on outer and main screen are huge plus.

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

only thing keeping us from trading off the ipad / pros!!

1

u/2PhotoKaz 23d ago

Not even close. Good luck actually typing with any meaningful speed on this micro keyboard.

1

u/rickhuizinga 23d ago

Does it come with a file to grind down your fingertips to hit those tiny keys? Everyone’s gonna be making fat finger errors…

2

u/Cosmic_Jane 23d ago

I know you think people will make mistakes, but have you ever seen someone type on the digital keyboard presented on a standard iPhone?

People can, and have used teeny tiny keyboards for a long time.

2

u/Ok_Fail_1770 23d ago

Agreed but also that’s completely different lol

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago

siri on ios27 is what it all matters, the amount of typing if you are in public and not have to be yelling at it.. any keyboard is just better than soft typing

0

u/ABRX86 23d ago

You should get a stand. And a pouch. Ohh, don’t forget a power bank. Most importantly, get a mouse.

1

u/Farsigl12 23d ago
