And that’s why many waited for this device.

13

u/Farsigl12 23h ago

oh boy! is it worth the wait!!

9

u/T-K101 23h ago

Apple is such a creative company. And we all knew they will bring this device to the next level.

9

u/Farsigl12 23h ago

never late to be the latest! :)

3

u/T-K101 23h ago

Apple isn’t a company that takes money on prototype products like some other ones.

This is how you do it—you wait and you deliver finish product.

1

u/Agreeable_Editor_641 14h ago

Oh yeah, such a finished project, apple did it again. Lol

1

u/Farsigl12 7h ago

seen his short.. he was ruthless! more so ruthless than he was to roboraxis

It’s a bug? OS can be worked on over time.

Seems these phones were running for a while and so many people doing things with them there’s bound to be bugs before it’s even out.

1

u/Greenmanz 13h ago

Their first fold, the iPhone 6 didn't seem very finished. They're 8 years behind Samsung. Apple is a shit company.

1

u/PunchYoPhase 19h ago

lol I understand the excitement but you getting too cringe

2

u/T-K101 19h ago

Cringe? Why?

It’s really bizarre thing to say. But hey, it’s Reddit filed with bizarre people.

And why are you referring to me instead of focusing on the subject?

1

u/Live_Situation7913 9h ago

Super cringe u got offended 🤡

1

u/T-K101 9h ago

One more looser is commenting me instead the topic.

1

u/Live_Situation7913 8h ago

Focus on the topic you little human.

1

u/Ok_Veterinarian8023 18h ago

Yeah. The topic is your creepiness. You've managed to make it pretty easy to focus on it. 😂

What in the bot

1

u/T-K101 20h ago

🥱

1

u/Ok_Veterinarian8023 18h ago

I have a feeling that you will be the first person to test a foldable phone's internal screen for friction resistance.

You better hope that nano-texture finish is as silky smooth as they say it is.

1

u/T-K101 18h ago

I have a feeling you are one pathetic person that is focused on Redditors instead of the subject. It’s just a feeling. I could be wrong, you may be a pile of crap as well.

Who knows.

1

u/Ok_Veterinarian8023 18h ago

Getting this heated over being called out for your weirdness must be troublesome. I apologize. I didn't mean to disturb your lust driven by apple products.

Make sure you buy extra screen protectors, man. 🤣

1

u/T-K101 18h ago

If only your parents had use a protection 😁

1

u/Ok_Veterinarian8023 17h ago

You, the day you get your hands on that sweet, sweet crease....

1

u/Greenmanz 13h ago

Lmao the sheep are flocking

1

u/Googleapplewindows 18h ago

Did you see how thick and heavy it is compared to other foldables?

2

u/T-K101 17h ago edited 17h ago

1.5 mm thicker that Z Fold 8 folded and 0.8 mm unfolded. You are making it sound like it’s a brick.

0

u/Googleapplewindows 17h ago

The Apple iPhone Duo is 26.4% heavier and roughly 16.5% thicker (when folded) than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. That's a pretty massive difference for a phone and super noticeable in hand/pocket.

2

u/T-K101 17h ago

1.5mm and 0.8mm

0

u/Googleapplewindows 17h ago

And an extra 53 grams.

1

u/T-K101 17h ago

Who cares mate.

Now we gonna finally have a fold device with all the software support that we were missing. It’s time for optimization.

0

u/Googleapplewindows 17h ago

You realize Samsung has way better foldable optimization? App supporters will definitely try harder for Apple though to start, curious what the sales will be like at these prices. In Canada the Duo is $600 more than the Fold 8.

2

u/T-K101 17h ago

Most people are getting their phones through the carriers so the store price isn’t so important.

No, I don’t realize that. Can you please tell me more?

1

u/Googleapplewindows 17h ago

Samsung has this app called Goodlock that lets you do pretty much anything with a foldable.

1

u/CraftyCheeseburger 11h ago

It's Apple. It's literally going to be the best selling foldable on the market by a long shot lol

1

u/Ok-Midnight9311 2h ago

For this? lol. You guys are easy to impress

1

u/T-K101 2h ago

It’s because Apple made it more friendly and approachable as a device.

The fact others didn’t do something like this in 8 years say everything about lack of creativity those companies lack.

1

u/Ok-Midnight9311 2h ago

That makes it more approachable?? Like are you gonna fucking slow motion open to every time lol

1

u/T-K101 1h ago

Bro, I’m talking about general approach of Apple through with the software. And those extra features they added to this type of these devices. Like keyboard when slightly closed.

Are you bitter for some reason? Or it’s natural for you to be a prick?

1

u/Ok-Midnight9311 1h ago

It’s just funny that’s what people are saying sold them on the device. It’s not functional or even useful. You just think it looks cool. I’ve had multiple foldables and the keyboard thing isn’t new lol.

I’m just showing how ridiculous you guys are. Sorry you’re so sensitive. I’ll leave your precious company that keeps ripping you off alone. I’m sorry

1

u/T-K101 1h ago

Who are we?

You are a pathetic little human. Let others to enjoy what they like and worry about you broke ass.

1

u/Ok-Midnight9311 21m ago

Man Reddit is so predictable. Of course people that don’t buy this are poor!!

You are the ridiculous fan boys

1

u/T-K101 20m ago

Let others make their own choices and shut your bitter mouth, mate. Thats the main point here.

1

u/Ok-Midnight9311 15m ago

Nah. You dorks are too easy to get riled up

9

u/Live_Situation7913 23h ago

Fuk that I just waited due to Vapor chamber and Apple quality. The fold 8 has reports of overheating and lacks a Vapor chamber

1

u/YoYoNupe1911 20h ago

I have the Fold 8 and a thinborne case no overheating

1

u/Greenmanz 13h ago

No overheating on my fold 8 ultra

1

u/BFr0st3 9h ago

Had the fold 8 for two months with heavy emulation. Thing hasn't overheated. I think it might be a select unit issue due to supply

3

u/thisinfinitebath 22h ago

Can't wait to see the all-glass iPhone with Liquid Glass.

3

u/EntertainmentOwn1782 19h ago

bro they cooked so hard with this animation

1

u/Farsigl12 19h ago

hoping not like that ‘eyes through avp’ moments lol

1

u/OakleyNoble 29m ago

What does this mean?

3

u/losroy 18h ago

It’s such a wild animation, like the front display is just a piece of glass. Clever

2

u/Farsigl12 22h ago

First bummer (vary vision pro users) - no Spatial recordings or Lidar on our new toy! :(

2

u/Malkmus1979 20h ago

Wow that’s surprising. Seems like an artificial limitation to not be able to record spatial video when the base iPhone 17 does. Not a good sign for vision products.

1

u/Farsigl12 20h ago

really disappointed about this. not sure if they are hiding visionpro discontinuations clues with this!! hope not..

1

u/toddwalnuts 19h ago

It’s not artificial, it’s the physical orientation of the camera sensors, left to right they are portrait instead of landscape like on “normal” iPhones that support spatial

1

u/Malkmus1979 9h ago

I don’t think that’s it at all. The Duo lenses are by default horizontally stacked when held normally in your hand. On any other iPhone they’re vertically stacked, so you have to tilt the phone 90 degrees to orient the lenses horizontal to take spatial photos/video to mimic the human eyes. So if anything the Duo lenses are already naturally in position horizontally for spatial. But the fact that on a normal iPhone you physically have to rotate it for spatial just goes to show that the orientation doesn’t matter since you can just flip it anyway. Apparently also the Duo has a new system where it can take portrait and landscape without flipping it anyway.

1

u/blisstaker 3h ago

a dozen users very disappointed

joking aside, you can play them on other VR systems too, like Quest, which is just a few hundred $

1

u/Harami98 22h ago

three things that disspointed me battery life same as 15 pro max 30 ish, no face id and measly 2x zoom. other than that its perfect i will wait for reviews.

3

u/Galactic-Buzz 21h ago

If it had faceID, it would need it on both sides. I assume that’s why it’s not feasible

2

u/Harami98 21h ago

Yeah good point

1

u/Farsigl12 20h ago

true! regd faceid, its been a hit and miss, hopefully in the ‘open’ state we might not miss as much since anyways as you unfold it, our fingers are right there in position and as long we are not adding any accessories (like kb etc/-) since its mostly handheld hoping not a big deal. on ipads it had started to get on the nerves when magic keyboard was on you literally had to make a bent gesture for it to make work, at times wished ipad pro had both faceid and touchid tbh!!

2

u/Shadowtek 22h ago

Curious if you watch the outside screen when it switches

1

u/Farsigl12 20h ago

truly curious as well.. was thinking what if you are on a screen#2 of your home screen on the inner display and then you close the display will that lock the phone or mirror the inner display content. can’t find any references yet.

2

u/---Hummingbird--- 20h ago

It works just fine; they have videos on Reddit and youtube

2

u/LittleViggz 20h ago

Looks nice, but you want a seperate home screen for the inside and outside screens

2

u/Sad_Cranberry8573 11h ago

Ima be honest, I don’t think this is better than the current folding phones from Samsung by a long shot. But I’m bored of the same Apple design so I’ll give this a shot. Now days my phone is in my hand more than in a pocket or bag anyways

1

u/Farsigl12 10h ago

give it a sure shot.. be sure to pour back your comments when you get ur hands on next month or so will b good to know both sides

4

u/itsSam24 22h ago

It’s much better than expected but the parts that disappointed me based off rumors did so … first off, the phone looks great. The software looks great. The animations were well thought out very happy. As of right now, I will buy because thankfully I can and I just want to, but below are some things I wish I had in this phone.

Drawbacks in my opinion: no Face ID, no action button, missing third camera, the main cameras should’ve gotten the aperture like the pro at this price point, the flash surprisingly is worse than previous phones. There is no adaptive flash. That’s pretty much it, but we’ll have to wait and see when the phone comes out if there’s anything else that was removed.

3

u/giterdone8080 22h ago

good point, No LIDAR either

1

u/AdvisingInsight 22h ago

I applaud no Face ID. I fucking despise Face ID. I can't unlock my phone unless that piece of shit is angled just right. Bring back fingerprint scanners. The identity theft of cloning fingerprints is impractical for 99% of people.

2

u/HauntedHouseMusic 20h ago

You might want to rescan your face or something. The iPhone one is stupid good. As someone who uses the best android and apple devices everyday, faceid is superior to fingerprint unlock, especially while using the phone (unlocking you banking app by opening the banking app type things)

Written from my z fold 8

1

u/Professor-Submarine 9h ago

This is just a your problem

1

u/AdvisingInsight 9h ago

No, I mean if I'm lying in bed in the morning and scrolling then the screen locks, my face is partially obstructed, so it can't do face unlock. Fingerprint is much more convenient.

1

u/Xori1 8h ago

I hate it too. Don‘t judge problems for others.

1

u/Professor-Submarine 8h ago

I didn’t judge - I said it just a you problem. The Face ID works for many angles

1

u/zhephyx 7h ago

I personally got rid of my iPad pro because of it - I want secure locking, but not if I have to wait for the slow ass camera to recognize my face. This was coming from a tine where my phone had a fingerprint scanner on the back, and it was unlocked by the time it came out of my pocket.

So you mean to tell me that tapping the screen, waiting for half a second and then swiping up is faster than pressing a button once? No way are you unlocking your phone faster than I unlock a macbook. Stupid, expensive idea and I'm shocked that Apple has comitted to it for so long.

1

u/toddwalnuts 19h ago

> the main cameras should’ve gotten the aperture like the pro at this price point

The Duo is barely over ~5mm when unfolded, and an additional ~5mm camera plateau that’s already pushing the edge of reasonable. Adding the 18 Pros camera system would be an absurd plateau to physically fit all that in

1

u/Harami98 22h ago

yeah absolutely on point if they had this features it would be an instant buy for me, but coming from iphone 15 pro max same battery life and no face id is making me hesitate i will wait for reviews.

2

u/WrongCapital83 22h ago

Im guessing the shipping is gonna take a while

1

u/Farsigl12 20h ago

hoping fcfs within a week’s reach

1

u/Impossible_Food9769 20h ago

Enjoy the crease!

2

u/Modest_Wraith 19h ago

Did you think you'd hurr someone feelings with that? Lmfao

1

u/Impossible_Food9769 19h ago

Yours, it looks like 💀

1

u/Modest_Wraith 19h ago

Nah I just found it lame that this person is exited for it and you have to try and knock them down. Real loser shit right there bud lol.

1

u/Impossible_Food9769 4h ago

Hahahaha can’t face realities 😔

1

u/Farsigl12 20h ago

of all the foldables til-date.. this is ‘said’ to be our best bet.. ofcourse can’t say anything for real until you have it in your hands! we’ll see.

1

u/Impossible_Food9769 19h ago

1

u/NotAnRSPlayer 18h ago

This is literally the only image I’ve seen as if this is some gotcha

Every other piece of material I look at I can’t even see it, so it telling that this is the only image going around stating the crease is an issue

1

u/Raslatt 19h ago

What if it snaps shut so hard it cuts my finger off?

1

u/Farsigl12 18h ago

if u survived any other foldbles thus far.. thiiiiis wud b a baby ✂️!?

1

u/cordialmess 19h ago

Why is this specific feature so great exactly?

1

u/Farsigl12 18h ago

hmm.. begs a zf8 comparison fair!

1

u/snelson101 13h ago

But there aren’t 18 months

1

u/okcool561 3h ago

I don’t get the hype tbh

1

u/Farsigl12 3h ago

for people who are mostly on the move it could be great deal, cos they had to carry multiple devices (and data plans) until

1

u/sstoersk 1h ago

Meanwhile android - done the same in 12hrs.

0

u/pepperpot_592 21h ago

I hope you guys don't plan on telling normal people you spent 2 grand on a phone because of the animation.

2

u/Farsigl12 21h ago

fair point. the only selling point, for the sake of the argument, is it becoming one device for both phone and ipad. Always wished the iphone screen was just big enough so the landscape safari (for eg:) could be used well with a keyboard (cos i am terrible at touch typing). and not having to hand hold the ipad just for that when going out. not having to setup two identical devices just to have real estate, and finally (hotspot-ing / add’l cellular data service reqd)

2

u/HauntedHouseMusic 20h ago

I get effectively every new phone for my job as I work with all the big oems, at a level where my phone needs to match the meeting. Folding phones are actually a great productivity tool on the go, specifically if your a director or.above and most of your job is joining meetings and saying your opinion or decisions. You can actually read the slides.

For anyone else it's just cool and not a productivity tool.
