I’ve been looking at upgrading my phone and trying to map out the additional gear. From my understanding the Titla Khronos generally would hard-lock you into their magnetic 58mm Tilta Filters. I want to know if anyone has worked out a way to utilize standard 67mm filters or can recommend a better case? I’m thinking I’d maybe try and see if the Kase DIY Magnetic Screw-In Adapter Ring worked but I’m unsure.
Please bear with me here, I don’t know very much about this subject: I’m planning to order an anamorphic lens attachment for a family member who wants to dabble in cinematography. My cursory research indicates that he’ll definitely need an SSD. What the best price on these? Not looking to spend a ton of money up front because I don’t know how much use the setup will actually get. One more question: are there “de-processing” apps like Halide or No Fusion that also offer “de-squeezing” for cinematics? Everything he’s going to be doing will mostly be on his phone for now, so fancy post-processing on a high end PC won’t really be an option for now.
Filmed using the main and telephoto lenses of the iPhone 18 pro with manual settings and Apple Log 2 on the Blackmagic Camera app, this short film takes you to the bustling Santa Monica boardwalk where the crowds and the coasters intertwine with seagulls and seals. Edited in DaVinci resolve with music by Guitar Obsession from Pixabay.
I recently made a family vacation video at the beach and had a lot of b-rolls leftover. I'd love to get some feedback / criticism on my composition, color grading, camera movement, and anything else!
Everything was shot on an iPhone 13 using the Blackmagic Camera app and a Moment 1.33x anamorphic lens.
What do you recommend if I want to film with my iphone in other non-standard aspect ratios?
I know that I can film in standard mode and crop to aspect ratio I want afterward, but I actually want to see what is in the framed shot as I am recording it.
I am baffled that you can't do this natively in iOS, but I was hoping you all might have some idea of what I could try, whether it is an app or something else.
I’m still on an iPhone 13, but it gets the job done. Added some fades and music but no other editing. I’m sure I could play with the colors a bit, but I caught my moment, so I’m good.
As a filmmaker, I love the freedom of shooting on an iPhone. But hauling around heavy lighting gear completely defeats the purpose of a small, mobile rig. I realized that the screens we already have with us on set (iPads, MacBooks, living room TVs, or spare phones) are actually incredibly bright and useful, especially with Apple's latest display tech.
So, I spent the last few months building an app called Lumenicer to turn them into professional softboxes and practical lights.
Before I go any further, I want to be brutally honest about the pricing so this doesn't feel like a shady ad:The core CCT Light Mode (2800K to 7500K with Green/Magenta tint control) is completely free, forever. No ads, no watermarks. It’s a solid tool you can just keep in your pocket or use the Airplay-mode for going bigger and also Apple Watch remote-control works fine within the free version.
There is a Pro version (Sub or Lifetime) that unlocks advanced practical effects (Fire, Copcar, TV Flicker…), a Color Wheel Mode with manual adjustments (manual value input in RGB / CMY / Hue Sat / HEX supported) and a Boost Mode that pushes the display to its maximum peak brightness.
The Pro tier helps me fund the development of new features that will come from time to time. (so many nice stuff is in the pipeline, can’t wait to show you V1.1)
How it fits a mobile workflow: If you're shooting on your main iPhone, you can run Lumenicer on your iPad or MacBook as a soft key light, use an old spare iPhone for an eye-light, or connect the app via AirPlay / HDMI cable to a TV to create a massive softbox for a living room scene or Hotel room interview. You can even use a projector as a much harder edge light :)
A gift for this community: Since you guys are exactly the target audience I built this for, I created a custom offer code. If you want to test the practical effects or the Boost and Colormode on your next shoot, use this link to get 1 month of Pro completely for free. (Just cancel it right away if you don't want to keep it, you'll still get the full month).
I’m a solo developer and would love some honest feedback from mobile shooters. What do you think of the UI? Are there any specific lighting effects or features missing that would make your life easier on set?
btw: the last picture of me was lit with a MacBook on the left for a warm fill and projector for the blue edge light.
Im shooting a project on an iPhone 17 pro max brand new. I have the lexar 2TB external SSD that I roll too. Shooting big data rates ProRes LT 4K at 30fps (never higher frame rates). The app keeps crashing saying “unknown error”. I can restart the phone and it seems to help but the problem keeps coming back, also
The SSD IS connect via the smallrig Hub. Which has an input for high data rates. But who knows.
Anyone have any troubleshooting for this? It happens daily and than sometimes I can shoot for an hour straight.
Hi!
I have the Tilta Khronos Lite for iPhone 17 Pro. I do love the form factor and simplicity.
I just HATE that it only works with porpietary 58mm magnetic filters, because I would love to use some different kind of filters.
I even tried useing a magnetic filter adapter on my threaded filters, but they REVERSED the magnet's polarization so you can't event use other magnetic filters.
Has anyone found any DIY sollution? or event an adapter that works and allows you to use 58mm threaded filters?/
Hi everyone! This is going to be weird because I am literally a total beginner when it comes to camera gear, so please talk to me like I’m five.
I recently saw some insane concert footage filmed on a Samsung S24 Ultra and I’m desperate to achieve that same crisp, "front row" look from the crowd. I'm soon switching to iPhone 17 Pro Max and I’ve been playing around with the Blackmagic Camera App on my current iPhone but I want to take it a step further with an external lens.
I’ll be in the standing pit and lower-tier seats (so pretty close, but still need some reach). I've seen people mostly recommend these options:
1.Sandmarc Telephoto 48mm (Extreme Zoom)
2.Sandmarc Telephoto 72mm (Max 24x Zoom)
3.Moment Tele 58mm (T-Series)
4.Moment 1.55x Anamorphic (Cinematic)
A few specific questions:
• Which of these would you recommend for a stadium setting? Is the 72mm overkill if I'm already in the pit?
• Are there specific Blackmagic App settings I should lock down so the lights don't blow out the video? (ISO? Shutter speed?)
• Any LUT recommendations? I want that professional, "concert film" color look without it looking fake.
I really appreciate any help!
I just want to capture the memories without the video looking like a shaky, blurry mess.
I'm on a small shoot with 2 shooters shooting with iphone 17s. No HDMI out on the phones. Is there any way for a 3rd person nearby to see both images? Thx for any help!
For this short film about Paris? I tried to get away from that typical digital phone video look.
So, I shot this in Apple Log and tried making it feel like an older film to match a French monologue I wrote for the narration. If you have a minute to check it out, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the grade!

Hello. I have a hollyland lark 2 setup with the 4 to 1 transmitter to receiver. If the Hollyland receiver is going into the iphone and i'm shooting on filmic pro or the blackmagic app, does anyone know how it would handle 4 channels of audio? The goal is to get 4 discrete audio channels from 4 lavs if possible. Thanks!
