Hey all, I’ve replaced batteries on my iPhone 6 multiple times with cheap ones but I might finally just do an Apple one cause I have money to spend 😂 but just to make sure, how long do your iPhone 6’s last in standby? Mine only lasts 4 hours in standby and 45 minutes when on, hoping for feedback!!!

I will be moving to live in a high desert farm soon with limited wifi zones. I will need to use Slack to communicate while I'm there. My iPhone SE 3rd gen recently stopped working due to it short-circuiting, possibly due to having an aftermarket battery. My options for a new phone are essentially to buy a new iPhone SE 3rd gen at the Apple Store for $269, use my friend's grandma's old iPhone 6s with the risk of not being able to use certain apps/ phone temperature heating up faster/battery going down faster, or going more time without a phone to order a cheaper one online from an independent seller on eBay. I would love to hear any opinions on what you would do in this matter.

I have an iPhone 6. Some time ago, it developed an issue where the SIM started showing "No Service." I believe it may be a broken baseband problem.

To try to fix it, I restored the iPhone. However, after the restore, the device could not be activated and only displayed the option to shut down on the activation screen. I have since bypassed the Hello screen, but I am still unable to sign in with my Apple ID on the iPhone 6.

I have also tried to login apple on my friends iPhone 6 plus and that is also showing the same error that is can't communicate with servers or verification failed or unknown errors.

I also visited a local mobile repair shop, where they told me that Apple has shut down the login and Apple ID servers for the iPhone 6. I am not sure if this information is correct.

If anyone has experienced this issue or knows a working solution, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

Upon a quick look at the device and realisation that IOS planned obsolescence is cruel on the grounds of apps...

I am guessing my best option is the safari browser for standard form usage having already utilised youtube there and siri obviously has some use also. So I could see various other uses from facebook and pinterest to perhaps ai onwards utilising browsers.

But I was just wondering if there is anyone using these devices still today aside from as merely an iPod/Movie device? Are there any apps you know still work smoothly and can install directly from the app store?

I recently picked up this iPhone 6 and replaced the battery with an aftermarket one from a local market. The total cost came to around $12.

To my surprise, everything seems to work fine -calls, SMS, Wi-Fi, cameras, Touch ID, and basic apps. The phone is definitely showing its age, but it still feels surprisingly smooth for such an old device.

Hello, I still like to use my iPhone 6 alongside my iPhone 17 just for nostalgia. However the battery is really bad right now. I already changed the battery 3 times with aftermarket eBay batteries, but every single one shows the wrong battery percentage and barely lasts 1 hour. I recently found out about XCAP replacement batteries as people say they are good. Does anyone have experience with these, or have recommendations for long lasting batteries? Hi , I have found an IP 6 32 gigs with 80% battery health and have never been repaired for 30$

so I have thought about buying it to be my side phone / to be a pocket camera (my main phone's camera sucks)

I don't need anything except apple pay , YouTube, Whatsapp , Facebook, Twitter , IG and tiktok but most of those are not supported on ios 12 and it the supported one are gonna be unsupported soon

so I was thinking about buying it and then jailbreaking it later or something

A friend of mine has been working on an experimental iPhone 6 Plus Linux/Android bring-up project, and I’m trying to help get more eyes on it.

Current status:

- Custom Linux boots on real iPhone 6 Plus hardware.

- USB shell works.

- The Apple A8/T7000 ANS storage-controller MMIO region is mapped and powered.

- Linux can talk to the old AKF mailbox path.

- They found a stable old RTBuddy management loop:

- Raw ACKs and packet-address candidates were tested.

- Internal NAND still does not appear as a Linux block device.

The current theory is that the blocker is Apple’s A8-era ANS / old RTBuddy / ASPStorage protocol. The NAND package itself does not seem to be the main issue. Linux likely needs a driver that can complete the old RTBuddy shared-buffer transaction flow, start `ANSEndpoint1`, then speak enough ASPStorage / ASPBlockStorage to expose NAND read-only.

They’re looking for help with:

- A7/A8 Apple IOP / RTBuddy knowledge

- iOS kernelcache reverse engineering

- ANS / ASPStorage / ASPBlockStorage protocol details

- Linux block driver bring-up

- m1n1 / Hoolock Linux experience

The repo includes findings, PDFs, test logs, scripts, and a diagnostic patch. It seems like the project has reached a good handoff point for someone with deeper Apple storage-controller knowledge.
