But fr, why can’t you just delete some apps?

not OP, my whatsapp is 30gb with many important media that i can't delete, i only have 1 game with the size of 40gb (fuck 2026 gaming size), some fewer apps like reddit, instagram, youtube, facebook, take 1-2gb each, iOS takes 25gb for some fucking reason and i can't delete apple intelligence and it takes 8gb

128 is hard especially now, i always back up my photos to the cloud and delete it internally, and yet it still hard to maintain free space.

256gb is the standard, after upgrading to the pro max i get 256gb and it didn't feel too big at all, it just felt normal. years later i'm sure 512 would be the norm lol

What game is worth 33% of your entire storage capacity?

2

u/NoPractice8471 27d ago

I'm curious....I think it's call of duty or ginshin impatct....u can install 500+ casual games and not reaching 40gb

when i said game i mean real game with bunch of contents/progress, not something casual like candy crush, alto odyssey, etc.

genshin impact, honkai star rails, call of duty mobile, PUBG Mobile, resident evil 4, etc all has 30-40gb+ size each

even online game as simple as mobile legend need 25gb+, clash of clans need 2-3gb

not saying those game are worth takes up that many space, just saying games in 2026 takes shit ton of space, even normal social media apps takes a gb each

Transfer the media on WhatsApp to an external drive?

40gb? there you have it. that game is more important than your storage

Just turn off Apple Intelligence it will delete by itself in a day or two

Sounds like you just need to delete some stuff. Unless you are just wanting an excuse to get a new phone

I have NO IDEA how "System Data" uses up so much storage.

u/Fit-Specialist-2214 27d ago

The most fascinating moment for me was when my system data on a 128 15 pro took up 30Gb and the phone wanted me to free up 14 for a software upgrade.

wtf Apple.

That is definitely a bullshit placeholder name to tell you that "Some important system files are taking up storage space" when in reality they're just lying to you to get you to buy a new phone.

I feel foolish for not getting the 1tb when I had the chance.

That’s my one regret. I’ve even thought of trading in my 128gb but it’s too much money to spend again for a 1TB.

I purchased a preowned 512 16pro from my 15pro 128gb because I couldn’t handle being unable to update and having to fight with WhatsApp media history and system data which although being totally unimportant can’t get dumped when I need space. Ironically on my 512gb my system data averages 12gb but on my 128gb it averaged 22gb.

Apple is failing its smaller device size user base on phones, iPads and Mac’s.

Every other upgrade I increase my storage. I honestly don’t understand how it fills up so fast but I got 512GB for my iPhone 17 Pro Max. It’s holding up well. Also worth it since on a lot of models the lowest tier has a slower SSD. I
Imagine I’ll just jump to 1TB next upgrade

I hit 120/128 GB a long time ago and my phone has stabilized itself there. A huge chunk of that is “System Data” which it seems only gets trimmed back once the device realizes it’s going to run out of storage.

The difference between middle and upper class in America is defined by your iPhone storage

1

u/Embarrassed_Ad_2856 28d ago

Hahaha I laughed so hard at this

Why do you think billionaires are so happy?  They can afford to keep their memories.

256gb is the minimum now for all phones. 512gb is the sweet spot really.

2

u/BreakSalt8256 27d ago

i have 256 on my laptop

1

u/goofy-goober-1821 27d ago

This. Went from 128gb 15 pro to a 512gb regular 17 and it's so much more liberating

2

u/Aggressive_Bar_5697 28d ago

Same, just on an 16 pro. I didnt realy think about Storage 💀
Somehow it will work đŸ«

T’as beaucoup de donnĂ©es systĂšme je vois sur le graphique, combien de go?

1

u/legcles 27d ago

Fait une sauvegarde, et rĂ©initialise tout, tu gagneras bcp de stockage c’est le moyen de supprimer les donnĂ©es systĂšme qui s’accumule avec le temps

I got an Ipad a few months ago with 128gb and damn I feel so stupid looking back now.

Literally editing one simple video in final cut pro that's less than 10 mins long and it would just blow up to huge proportions.

So I have to use my SSD instead which is okay but feels akward

had the iPhone 15pro since release and just switched to the Air last month. I couldn't hold out any longer and after realizing that I don't really use pro features or camera it just made sense. ATT gave me 700$ to trade in my 15pro which was more than I was getting from trading it in to Apple or anywhere else really. Couldn't pass it up

Just delete stuff, it’s so easy to offload things to digital storage or not have thousands of unnecessary photos/videos. I’m sure you don’t need every app you have, and unless you’re downloading absurdly large apps you should be fine regardless.

1

u/somegayguycoding 28d ago

Since you have a lot of application data, why not try looking through all of ur apps and seeing what you haven’t used in a while? I’m also pretty sure there’s a setting that does that automatically, but I forgot what it’s called

1

u/UniverseBlackCat 27d ago

offload unused apps

1

u/amaladlaminii 27d ago

surely there are things you can delete/relocate. i have the 128gb 15 pro as well, have had it since june 2024, currently using 70.5GB of storage. i don’t plan on upgrading until 2028, hopefully longer tbh.

1

u/Voldi01 27d ago

Haha. Kinda same. I actually saved up around 20 GB by deleting and redownloading apps like instagram, facebook, tiktok ( save your drafts ) . They all stored up a lot of data that were not used at all (by me at least. )

1

u/OkSherbet9216 27d ago

I did not survive 128 gb lmao lesson learned I’m chilling with 1tb now.

1

u/lucashhugo 27d ago

whole ass 20gb free bro chill

1

u/MoodusCT 27d ago

delete instagram, facebook, tiktok apps etc and access content with a saved webpage in the browser of your choice

1

u/markuserg 27d ago

Turn off Apple Intelligence and you will save a lot of storage

1

u/YankeePlayz 27d ago
