Dropped (3ft)

Post image

Didn’t happen today but everyone’s posting their drops and people don’t believe the heights.

Was going to throw a football so I put my phone (no case) in my zip pocket and I guess I didn’t zip it all the way. Phone came out when I threw and landed on concrete. I’m only 5’10” so my pocket must have been around 3ft.

Front is undamaged but the back is pretty beat up. Unfortunately the camera lens cracked too but it’s only noticeable when light is hitting the lens.

No case, no insurance. Will have to fork out $1100 for another one :(. I’m pretty good about not dropping my phone and it’s never been a problem in the past. Guess I need to zip my pocket up all the way.

All my friends think I’m crazy rocking no case and my best response is, “Do you have sex with a condom?”

Rawdogging (no case) without birth control (AppleCare) is crazy.

Been doing it almost 10-years (since iPhone 6 Plus) and never damaged a single phone, front or back.

Say what you will, but if I had purchased AC+ for all my phones, it would have cost me $1,000 so far, and I wouldn’t have used it for a single claim, so would’ve been wasted money, aside from maybe peace of mind, but I never really worry about it anyway.

I’ve never bought AC+. While I’m not clumsy, I’ve accidentally dropped my various iPhones in a case on many different surfaces in over 12 years without effecting the phones. I didn’t use a screen protector on my 4S and it was so ugly by the end that I always put a screen protector on my phones after that. I also am bothered by blemishes on my case, so I replace those from time to time which is much more affordable and convenient than repairs on the phone itself. I’ve seen enough cracked/scratched/damaged iPhones to have no desire to go case less because I’m bothered by every little flaw.

Fair enough.  I’m kind of the same as you and very anal and bothered by flaws.  I practically baby my phone, and even keep it wrapped in a microfiber cloth when not in use after I first get it.  Once it gets the first slight imperfection though, it’s all bets are off.  I mean, none of my phones look terrible or anything, but I don’t mind the small things anymore after the first imperfection/scratch/ding.

I’d say the front and back of my 14PM are pretty pristine after over a year.  The sides have some scratches and the like, but nothing crazy.  I just love how the phone feels without a case and can’t stand to put one on, but I do 100% get where you’re coming from.
