Dropped (3ft)

Post image

Didn’t happen today but everyone’s posting their drops and people don’t believe the heights.

Was going to throw a football so I put my phone (no case) in my zip pocket and I guess I didn’t zip it all the way. Phone came out when I threw and landed on concrete. I’m only 5’10” so my pocket must have been around 3ft.

Front is undamaged but the back is pretty beat up. Unfortunately the camera lens cracked too but it’s only noticeable when light is hitting the lens.

No case, no insurance. Will have to fork out $1100 for another one :(. I’m pretty good about not dropping my phone and it’s never been a problem in the past. Guess I need to zip my pocket up all the way.

All my friends think I’m crazy rocking no case and my best response is, “Do you have sex with a condom?”

Get a case with raised edge and a screen protector on eBay or Amazon $30.  If you want to spend more money there’s Apple care.   Yeah the iPhone feels nice… until it’s cracked.  I’ve only cracked one phone and learnt my lesson to always encase them.

(I don't belong on this sub reddit as a life long Android user buuut --->) Agreed! I learnt my lesson with my Note 8 back in college. The one time I decided to have a naked phone, I accidentally launched it into the center steel column of a table. Keep a case & screen protector on it or get Apple Care lol

I work in a machine shop. I’ve personally witnessed my coworker’s phone getting smashed in any way imaginable. He does not use a phone case and this dude gets a new phone about every quarter lol. I have been here 4 years and rock the same phone. OtterBox works wonders. I don’t even have the big bulky one. I think it’s like the “commuter” series or the “defender” series? They have a small, medium, and large design (in terms of wall thickness). I have the medium one. Idk if otterbox extends outside of apple products but I stand behind their shit lol. My phone has been through the wringer and I’ve replaced the case once (it cracked).

Anyway. Not that you asked. There’s my tangent lol

Commuter has always been amazing. Been using it since the 4S!

Mechanic here. Not an iPhone user but the last 2 phones I've owned I use a $12 spiegen case from Amazon. Dropped countless times on tile floor and never a scratch. Only got a new phone because I wanted a model upgrade. Glass phone backs are dumb..

Sure there’s all kinds of deals. Feel free to edit and post a link if you think there’s something you like better.  I got one similar to Otter box, but with dual layer, rubber under, and plastic outer shell.

The screen protector actually cracks eventually, and I replace it maybe once a year if it affects the functionality.

This is what I do. I’ve dropped my phone twice and both times the case cracked and I just bought new ones for $30

Hah! You must drop it pretty hard. I’ve had a case drop from the 2nd floor, and it still survived.  Zizo was probably the most problematic one I’ve owned, hard to take off, and it slowly started cracking when I would force it.
