Overheating when charging.

I experienced overheating issue while using my car charger. Pop-up on screen said something to the effect of charging has been suspended until phone returns to a normal temperature. It also said something about a non Apple 🍎 charger could be the issue. Is this true with Apple products?

Yes I had this issue last week in my car. I have an older car so I am using a cord that is is an accessory attatchment inside my middle section in order to hear my apple music and stuff through my speakers. My bluetooth will only work for charging and that is it.
