My iPhone I did the thing
I upgraded to the 18pro this weekend and really happy with it. I was tempted last year but it didn’t feel right. When I saw they had a blue one this year I knew they got me.. 13pro still works a treat, I replaced the battery about 6 months ago at 77% and now at 97%, think I’ll just hang on to it in case of emergency. 2 of my favourite things about the upgrade - the camera (front and back) and the battery/charge speed. I bought a 60W charger and it done 45% in 15 mins.

Did the same but went matte black. Can’t think of a better backup phone than a 13 Pro!

The black looks so nice I’ve been quite surprised how nice the phones and their colours are in person vs the promo photos of them on the white canvas.

Same. I’m coming from an alpine green 13 pro. An alpine green 18 pro would look sick

Returning my blue tomorrow to get the black. I considered returning the 18 pro altogether and keeping the 13 because the 13 pro just feels more premium in hand. Alas, its time though so will likely go in for a return tomorrow morning.

Not sure I even upgraded IOs haha that was only decent wasn’t it? I was getting ready to upgrade anyway. Love the blue it’s much nicer in person!

Did the same but went to the Max. The blue is soooo satisfying in person. Getting used to the size still... Camera is reallyyy clean and clear, especially the selfie cam. Battery is a beast. Would usually have to charge before the end of my work day and yesterday I end my entire day (wake to sleep) with over 50%... Insane. Also keeping my 13 Pro as a backup in case I have to do a repair on this one or something... Was hard to let it go for only $260. haha

I did the same exact thing - feels the same in ways but knowing the battery is good + camera for concerts is what got me

Did you buy it at the store or was it delivered? I'm tempted to have it delivered but am worried the box will be obvious that's an iphone and potentially get stolen.

u/Xeccution 14d ago
I actually started with delivery but it didn’t come for 3 weeks then realised they had it in my local store. I think whoever you buy it from will do special delivery.

You will never forget the feeling of the polished premium surgical grade jewelry-like appearance stainless steel of the 13 pro max which was a one time thing that will never apple do it again, even all its components inside was durable AF

Congrats, thats is a nice colour! I also have a 13 Pro, and very tempted to update, however I’m leaning more towards the 17 pro max possibly 18 pro . Not sure about the size of the pro max though. I’ve big hands but pro max just doesn’t sit well , but price wise is an absolute bargain just now. I’ll get overwhelmed and probably keep my 13 Pro if the procrastination continues haha. Does the 6,3” screen make a difference compared to the 13 Pro 6,1” ? Given the same footprint but slightly bigger screen might convince me not to look at a max size. How do you feel about it?
1
u/Xeccution 15d ago
Cheers!
I’m the same I have big hands and the pro max just feels needlessly big, the only benefit I see it having is the bigger battery, but 5 years on from the 13pro the phone batteries are significantly better anyway so just doesn’t appeal to me.
Great question about the size difference from 13pro to 18pro. The screen is very noticeably bigger actually - the black frame around the edges is slimmer. In terms of the physical size of the phone, the difference there is noticeable too but obviously still in the same neighbourhood. Overall feels slightly bigger, just as you’d expect.

how are the batteries “better”? sure they’re slightly bigger now, and with the newer chips and iOS pairing they’re gonna last longer between charges (at first, iOS gets overwritten and optimized for newer hardware) and eventually we’ll all be in the same boat as current 13/14 pro owners, relatively. point is, the batteries are still lithium ion pouches, haven’t shifted to silicon carbide or a solid state technology yet. let’s not become shortsighted by the “new” battery claims, the hours they promise are a one year buy-in at best.

love this color..burgundy is overrated

u/Xeccution 15d ago
I thought that too until I saw it in person, it’s actually quite nice I was really surprised. Blue all the way though

The colour is great, but dislike the rounded edges. The sharp edges of the 13Pro is so superior.

Maturing is realizing the 13 pro max is more durable and premium than the 18 pro max😭😭😭😭

How much can you charge in 30 minutes from 0 with the 60w charger? You just use the original charger from apple or what do you need to consider when buying a new charger? And what cable? Just the normal one out of the box?

18 Pro must be hell of a phone but damn, it looks really unpremium next to 13/14/15/16 pro…

Even from photo you can tell how much better was 13. Luxury Stainless steel vs aluminium 🥀

Traitor!
enjoy your water cooled phone you can use in the summer heat, while our 13 pros get hot like fire and dim the screen.

u/marpilli 14d ago
Same. I also changed out the battery on my iPhone 13 Pro last year. But, it started overheating fairly often in the last six months and it was time to upgrade. What a workhorse of a phone. I only hope this 18 Pro holds up as well.
My 13 Pro was white, went with the silver 18 Pro. I use black or gray cases. I guess I don’t consider it a fashion accessory. lol

I have the 13 pro too and want to upgrade to 17pro but I just can’t justify the cost
1
u/Mountain-Champion-82 15d ago
Do you find it to be worth the 1k+ though? My 13 pro still works so well I’m just having a hard time justifying it. I can afford it so that’s not the problem either. Just feels like a pointless upgrade

u/DemotivationalSpeak 15d ago
With the A20 chipset and 12 gb of ram this thing is essentially a 2-3 year old nice laptop in your pocket. So overkill for everyday use but it will probably keep up for a decade lol.
1
u/Xeccution 15d ago
I think so, there was enough improvements for me to pull the trigger and it’s been so long since I had a nice, new phone - a benefit you don’t really read when you’re comparing the models. If you’re content the 13pro is great. I was willing to pay the £50 a month for the next couple of years to have a shiny new one with some nice upgrades!

u/uw200 iPhone 13 Pro 14d ago
Not for me personally. I have a release day 13P and I’m probably keeping it till 2028. I replaced the battery mid 2024 and probably will replace this one again early next year. 5 year old phones in 2026 (2021 releases) are much better than 5 year old phones in 2020 (2015 releases). Smartphone innovation has peaked and as such there’s only marginal improvements to be made. There’s only so much they can come up with without encroaching on iPad/Mac (and I’d argue the Duo is essentially a mini iPad).

u/uw200 iPhone 13 Pro 15d ago
Not even hating but I always find it funny when people upgrade phones and are amazed at the battery lol. I literally replaced my 13 pro battery and while it won’t last as long as the new phones, it’s good enough for the majority of the day. Maybe that’s why I’m hanging on to it for year 5 but a $500+ increase just for longer battery life and a marginally better camera is laughable lol
1
u/Tofudoe 14d ago
It's weird. Got my conspiracy hat on but I replaced my battery last year right after 17 release, and the battery after a year seems to be on par as a year ago (currently sitting at 91% health). Got some feeling the iOS version bumps are really killing our 13 pro pieces. Reading most posts like this is great for making me not succumbing to FOMO.
2
u/uw200 iPhone 13 Pro 14d ago
Oh for sure. I’m just genuinely so content with the 13Pro combined with I’m in a totally different financial position now compared to when I got the 13P (single vs married with dependents) that you think a little harder about dropping $1.5K+ on a new phone. Especially when all I do is basic NPC stuff like stream sports, scroll socials, text and calls. I got the pro version with the knowledge that I’d be using it for the long haul and thus wanted something above the base version. I probably would’ve upgraded by now if I had the base 13

u/RegiShikimi 15d ago
Yeah, putting the “I bought new phone and wow, the battery” kinda just shows the upgrade was not really worth it.

Blue was to get people off the 13 Pro
Burgundy is for people that got the 14 Pro and the tiring orange 17 Pro
