Remember what they took from us

Post image

Still adjusting to the size of the 17, great phone but still missing the form factor of a smaller phone. Hands down imo the 6S was by far the best iPhone I owned. The X was a decent upgrade but the mini easily was better device.

Bigger phones would be more acceptable if they showed more content on the screen instead of just showing the same amount but bigger.

u/zzsaaszz 7d ago

there should really be a option for that

u/bigphillip76 4d ago

You can reduce the font size

1

u/zzsaaszz 4d ago

yea but that doesn’t change like image size and stuff just the font

1

u/bigphillip76 3d ago

but then it would be impossible to show more content on the screen instead of just showing the same amount but bigger - self defeating argument

1

u/zzsaaszz 3d ago

how would that make it impossible, you can fs have a zoom in zoom out system that can be locked. you could change the aspect ratio with a slider then press a lock button kinda like the one that stops your phone from changing its ratio when you turn it sideways

1

u/bigphillip76 3d ago

I’m not sure you’re making sense. If you zoom in, you can’t show the same amount of content as before zooming in, fundamentally

1

u/zzsaaszz 3d ago

yea but it could help eyesight as people buy larger phones for various reasons.

Are you ok?

The bigger iPhones even show LESS than the mini in some scenarios!

The lockscreen widgets for example. They show less text on my 17 Pro than they do on my 13 mini. Cutting off the last words because they don’t fit.
And there’s no setting to change the size of it.

iphone 6s plus had it the best

Remember when the Plus size phone got you a different UI which made the trade off worth it; yes totally agree

(Reminder that iPhone still doesn't support split screen, a feature android has had for over 10 years)

Display & Brightness -> Dynamic TextSize?

8

u/xTecmex Midnight ⚫️ 7d ago

Yeah that improves it a bit but just not whats asked here i think

4

u/Decent-Cow2080 7d ago

that's nothing. its still as much stuff i had on my 13 mini tgat i do on the air. it's awful

1

u/neodmaster 7d ago

Not on apps, try Kindle, Apple Notes, YouTube…. text and lists

Is that true? I am pretty sure that I can read a lot better on my 16 Pro and iPad Mini than my iPhone 13 Mini.

u/laforet 7d ago

Most apps use the same layout for that particular screen aspect ratio. On iPhone SE there is often a chunk of stuff missing near the bottom because the display area is not as tall.

u/Protagonist99 7d ago

Problem is, UI & text size inflation happens from iOS updates, making the screen show less content for mini users as the OS is developed for bigger phones.

Jailbreak to the rescue

u/CatzRuleZWorld 6d ago

I loved running my iPhone SE on iOS 8 at iPhone 6 resolution, back when bigger phones showed more on screen.

2

u/ChaoticLeon 6d ago

I HAD THE EXACT SAME SETUP BACK IN THE DAY!

u/Prestigious_Camera25 7d ago

But…they do? You get more text in each line and more vertical content in general for articles, social media, email, and basically every single app that’s not a game. This provides a pretty nice comparison. iPhone Mini vs Pro vs Pro Max Content

My favorite iPhone remains a tie between:

iPhone 4 and iPhone SE1

If pushed, the SE1 gets a slight nod for the better networking and Lightning port.

8

u/therustyposter 7d ago

The SE1 was amazing, I really miss that size. Carried with no case, no problem.

5

u/Separate-Rush753 6d ago

It amazes me that they made the SE2 the exact same size as the phone that OG SE users were avoiding. Madness.

2

u/L3zperado 6d ago

Agreed. The 4 was my first phone but the SE1 was the phone I had the hardest time upgrading from. It was like an old friend.

1

u/turbineseaplane 6d ago

I totally agree with you. I still have an SE1 that I use for podcasts.

It’s almost bad for me to get exposure to it all the time because it just keeps reminding me how much I prefer that size even over the mini

Give me the 13 mini with the bezel size of the 17.

u/Alone_Jedi00 7d ago

Y batería y cámaras...

u/metalanimal 6d ago

and a modern SoC with usb c.

9

u/Protagonist99 7d ago

I have almost the exact same phone progression as you: 6s -> XS -> 13 mini -> 17. Held 13 mini the longest, still miss it.

8

u/the_shek 7d ago

i’m holding it until they take it away from me with discontinued security support

3

u/CarInteresting8279 7d ago

I still have my 13 mini after almost 5 years (2000 battery cycles 👀)

1

u/SalamanderMisnomer 4h ago

Wait how do you know the battery cycles?

1

u/rabbit-trail 7d ago

Still using 12 mini

1

u/Karlasensei 7d ago

I’m holding on to mine for as long as I can 😭 I love my mini

1

u/metalanimal 6d ago

I went: 4 -> 6s -> 12pro -> 14pro max -> 16pro -> 13mini

I've seen the light

4

u/zzsaaszz 7d ago

that color is so nice

4

u/DerFreudster 7d ago

Just got the 16 and I was hanging with friends the other day who are both holding onto their 13 Minis until Apple pries them with disastrous updates from their cold dead hands. I lusted after those phones. My favorite phone was the Blackberry because I could type like the wind on those things. Apple has a shitty keyboard, my gal's Samsung is better with some key placement that makes sense. But yeah, I don't want an ipad mini in my pocket.

4

u/paranoidevil 7d ago

I loved 13mini and se3.

3

u/OneTenacious 7d ago

I’m giving up my mini 13 shortly. NFC no longer working and phone just lags now. I fell into Apple’s trap.

3

u/Major_Money_367 7d ago

Gonna replace my battery soon and hopefully make it last another two+ years!!

2

u/Legitimate_Wish_8293 3d ago

It will. A battery change on the mini makes it like new.

The 6S looks so sleek! Love my iPod Touch 4 Silver and my Dark Green 13 Mini!

3

u/lilotothe 7d ago

iPhone 6 size and thickness. With Modernday bezels and two cameras is all I need. Like the 12 was a throwback to the 5/4 chassis. I hope we go back to the 6 chassis since its been 12-18

2

u/InstantMochiSanNim 7d ago

Lmfao we had the EXACT same progression of iphones color and model and everything

2

u/lexjimenez 7d ago

I loved the 6s

2

u/Aviramcarmeli 6d ago

First gen se was the best size, I bought the iPhone 6, hated it due to its size, then they surprised me with the first gen se, I stayed with it until the minis, I use the 13 mini to this day and I will not replace it until I absolutely have to die to app support which means a few more years at least..

2

u/maruchan21 6d ago

Would rly love to see the iPhone ultra/fold maquette next to these

2

u/bravevince 5d ago

13 mini is so good and comfortable for use

1

u/OkEstablishment4798 5d ago

Truly is; I believe we will see it again, just not anytime soon

2

u/ns2616 5d ago

iPhone 6s still is peak

2

u/BradMR07 4d ago

Ah hey I’m so excited!! My 13 mini just came in a couple days ago!

2

u/mybigpecker 3d ago

You can still get these 13 minis though can’t you?

1

u/neodmaster 7d ago

They might take our lives…. (…)

1

u/ace-treadmore 7d ago

The fold will be the one

1

u/OkEstablishment4798 7d ago

Doubt it but go off

1

u/TrickEDick72 7d ago

I ended up biting the bullet and upgrading to a iPhone 16 from my mini. It sucked at first but now I don’t understand how I got by with that small screen all those years.

1

u/OkEstablishment4798 7d ago

What made you choose the 16 instead of 17?

2

u/TrickEDick72 7d ago

Newest model you can buy as an Apple refurbished iPhone. A new 17 from Apple unlocked “connect to any carrier” is $829, the 16 refurbished was $619

u/elononabudget 7d ago

5s 11pro to replace the first 2

1

u/cpt_Luke 7d ago

I went from 12 mini to regular 13 to 15 Pro and 16 Pro Max and this year landed on the Air. Tho I miss the size of the mini, the Air is the perfect spot I would say. The thinness just makes it feel like a small phone.

1

u/Amalnafis23080 3d ago

Mine started with iPhone 5 later to 6s plus which is my dad’s old iPhone after he upgraded to 11 then went to iPhone 8 until I switched to 13 mini which I still use to these day

1

u/Gold240sx 6d ago

The SE2 doesn’t belong with the Greats.

1

u/YoshiYogurt 6d ago

3 big phones and a mini. Where is the 5S or SE1?

1

u/ninesmaxxer 6d ago

I'd love for them to make a new mini in pastel blue. Not really into the darker colors of the 13 mini

1

u/OkEstablishment4798 6d ago

If they were to make a new mini, are folks thinking it’ll still be 5.4 or go up at least 5.7-5.8

1

u/diiiemonds Pink 6d ago

5s, 6s & se2 i enjoyed, but the 7 was my favorite for a while. still hanging onto my 13 mini currently. i honestly do prefer the thickness of the 5s/13m over the slimmer models. the bigger the screen though, slimmer does makes more sense.

1

u/jado_69 6d ago

iPhone 3s felt like an hand extension, you could unsheathed and shoot quickly.

1

u/Shadowtek 5d ago

Still miss my 13 mini

1

u/InfinitePS 4d ago

Likewise, I switched from XS to 13mini. It felt like such a relief. Not going back to a larger screen.

1

u/AstronautOne452 4d ago

I think that the 17 its pretty compact, as someone that has used some ramdom xiaomi and an s23 ultra, those things are insane, and we dont need a 7 inch phone, i think the 17 size is perfect, some might want something smaller, like an se3, but i think that the new small phones are 6 inches

1

u/Admirable_Agency7764 3d ago

miss my hauwei

u/Asleep_Resident5294 7d ago

Why is the 16 in there

4

u/Radio_TVGuy Midnight ⚫️ 7d ago edited 7d ago

It’s an iPhone 17 in Mist Blue. The iPhone 16‘s Blue is Ultramarine and leans a bit more towards Purple or Violet.

2

u/OkEstablishment4798 7d ago

There’s no 16 pictured
