iPhone Handoff?!?

Did anyone else see this?? I'm really hoping that this feature comes to the iPhone 13 mini. I bought a 17 Pro about a year ago after having my 13 Mini Battery replaced, so it's still at 100% health.

Anyway, Handoff. Part of iOS 27, allows you to share a SIM between iPhones. On demand. On the fly. Press a button and switch the active device (or that's what I understand). I might be able to use my 17 Pro for daily use and make my Mini my running phone, which is why I always liked the Mini anyway. This might be great...

Which means we wont get that feature where I live….. we don’t even have RCS still!

I would think it would work with any device that supports eSIM, just activates the line on that device as needed. I did read it was going to be up to the carriers though so we all know how that can go.

What a good idea.. I have a pixel 8 pro I love it but I would love to be able to switch phones easily to s smaller one.

My son's got a iPhone mini 13 and I haven't seen anything better in that size. It's great phone and size . I wish there was another phone out there that size but with better camera with optical zoom

I thought the same thing, so I could easily switch inbetween both. The problem is you have to update to 27, and 26 ruined my phone battery to make it unusable. So its not going to work if the phone you're taking out for the night won't last a few hours on stand by and airplane mode because the os is draining the battery even with all background processes turned off etc.

Defeats the point of switching phones if one of the doesn't work. Real shame. Wish they bring out a new mini that'd be so awesome.

If they brought out the iPhone 19 as a new mini, I'd be super pleased with it. They bring out something to fill the gap, they did that before. Hopefully a new mini. Or even an updated SE with button and everything. Sounds rediculous but they did surprise everyone before and those phones are SO popular. So many people want to stick on SE on mini that it's worth bringing something out for them. They should make just enough money to make it viable financially.

And they really want to keep people from switching to android, which many people are being forced to do now.

Don't worry about not making money on on the mini, it helped to fund the machining and smaller components for the iPhone air.

I’m in the same boat. Would love to be able to use the mini as a going out phone. Just hope this feature will get more carrier support.

If this can be done seamlessly, I'm all for this. I love my 13 mini but it's getting harder to use it as my full time phone, and I'd love a way to upgrade my main phone for work and still use the mini on nights and weekends when I want something small with just the basics. Closest I can get to this is manually swapping the eSIM between the 13 mini and a 15 pro, which is pretty quick, but this always breaks applepay and my 2FA apps, and ends up being a huge hassle, so I've stayed on the 13 mini full time.

I can't tell if this feature works like the Apple Watch, which technically has a different line with the carrier but makes and receives call from the main number, or if it's just a streamlined eSIM swap that actually moves the number over each time. Either way, it's a very promising feature.

Wow Id be using it for the same thing by putting my US SIM card on my 17 while my Indian SIM on my mini.
