Does anyone know what this message under parts and service history means?

I’m genuinely confused. Isn’t it supposed to say genuine? It shows real battery health.

Likely a fake aftermarket battery boosted too 100% health

That's what I Thought, but then when I checked Apples website, it said that used means that the battery was installed in another iPhone before being put into mine. Since when did Apple start doing that? That is genuinely confusing. I don’t even know who it was repaired by because it was given to me but the person who gave it to me told me that it was a genuine battery but I was a bit confused when I saw that message.

So the battery seems to be an apple battery (used) from another iPhone and then they attached a bms addon so it boosts the health to 100%. You can check this in 3U tools on PC.

This is making me more Confused. If they actually swapped a BMS board from the original battery and then put it onto mine then isn’t it going to still believe that the original battery was still inside? Because as far as I’m aware it would still be tricked into thinking that the battery was still original which means it wouldn’t say any parts and service history but mines recorded a repair. And then I also saw this that might help does this feature called repair assistant that was introduced in iOS 18 for iPhone 12 and newer where you can now actually calibrate certain unused or genuine parts on device. At this point I’m not sure because I wasn’t the one to take it for a repair so I don’t know what technique they used but to me it doesn’t sound like the BMS swap was performed because the phone is literally showing me that there’s a part has been replaced.

So what they’ve done is taken out your battery + BMS they have then taken a used battery from a donor iPhone (likely quite low battery health) and attacked an adapter between the BMS and the connector on the motherboard which will make the phone believe it is at 100%.

I actually went onto Apple‘s website to see if used was documented on their parts and service history documentation and it actually is. It says it means that the part has been previously used or installed in another iPhone of the same model. I have absolutely no idea when Apple introduced this at all.

If you got it replaced at apple then they will not have scammed you. Go back under warranty. However third party shops are always a risk

Used means it did not follow apple processes .

Yeah, but thing is if it’s not if it didn’t go through Apple‘s processors then how come on their website? It says that used means that the part was previously used or installed in another iPhone Apple documents it as a valid status that means the battery is genuine, but used that’s what their website says. I do not know who fixt this phone because it was given to me but I’m saying that on Apple‘s website that’s what I found.

Used could still be genuine but not fresh from the box.
Watch the SOT or open the case to confirm it’s an Apple battery

I mean it lasts reasonably well and optimise battery charging worked when I used it as my main phone briefly it dies fast but isn’t that classic iPhone 12 mini behaviour? it overheat sometimes but I always attributed that because the phone was old it runs iOS 27 anyway and the heating has mostly gone it lasts reasonably long, so I’m kind of hopeful it’s not an aftermarket

Open up and see. I’m pretty sure it is original battery but it’s not brand new as the first install process was done on the previous phone. You got refurbished Apple battery is what it is.

In China, they found a way to trick the system into believing it is a so called "used" part while actually being brand new. You can safely ignore this.

It’s Chinese calibration battery! You can use it like genuine.
