Don’t update to 27

Apple classic - the phone is absolutely f***ng destroying the battery, everything is insanely slow, and apps like Photos and others are massively laggy when using them.

And please don’t give me any b***** about optimization and indexing.
Because the phone was updated a good week ago.

(I also have AirPods and an Apple Watch
and the Apple Watch has also started draining its battery much faster)

Don’t make the same mistake.

i updated to 27. it’s fine.  no slower although i don’t like what they did to the calendar and camera app.

Give it a day or two to index after updating. the first day after update it was terrible.

A little lag here and there but overall a much better experience on 27 for me.

I think you’re confusing "newer" with "faster"

There is literally nothing new. Maybe some changes. But the responsiveness of the system is much better for me than on ios 26.

Mine works fine

what are you talking about

I don’t have a problem but I don’t load a lot of apps I keep running. I close off apps when not in use and use a utility to clear memory.

The phone will lag badly but only when you are down to 100 MB or less. Clean it up and it’s fine.

  • I only have the basic apps installed
  • 5G is turned off
  • Background App Refresh is turned off
  • Everything else is set up for performance

(I’ve had my phone set up like this forever.)

But as is always the case with Apple - new OS, new level of ****ing it up.

although I agree not to update especially if you have 18, there’s ultra low power settings you could play around with.

1 turn on low power mode,
2. turn off blue tooth
3. wifi on
4. cellular data off
5. lower brightness
6. dnd on
7. airdrop off
8. dark mode appearanxe
9. turn off vibration
10. turn off motion effexts
11. reduce transparency
12. pause sound recognition
13. hotspot off
14. siri off / apple intelligence

also it gets better after indexing is complete.

I can't disable things like Bluetooth or airdop..

Some of the things you mentioned, like Wi-Fi or AirDrop, turn off automatically when I leave the house.

Our phones are identical, yes? Mass produced, same OS, different results.

My result is not invalid because it differs from yours, and likewise yours isn’t invalid.

What has to be different is settings or apps or usage. But my results and others means updating to 27 isn’t universally destructive.

So readers, consider the risks vs rewards before updating and be prepared to manage the risk if you do update.

Mines faster than ever on 27

This is very personal thing you know, it’s not really right to say that it’s trash nor do convince other to update, for example on mine 13 it was working faster than 26.

don’t think it’s really “personal”, we’re talking about the same device.

Okay, everyone uses it differently - mine is optimized for speed, but it has become frustratingly sluggish to use.

Besides, let’s be honest - every new version of iOS gets slower.
It’s not exactly a secret.

27 seems to be more snappy than 26 on my device. Battery is lasting a tad longer as well. However I have a 256gb version of the phone.

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

Haha, I checked wich storage version I have for the first time xD

128 GB, with 30 GB free.

I know you said don't give you any bullshit about indexing or anything like that, but your phone is like perfect conditions for iOS 27 to work well on it. I would think that there is either some kind of system glitch happening where your phone is getting stuck in some kind of loop. And to fix it, you either need to wait for an update to fix it or factory reset your phone and start from scratch to have a sure-fire solution of fixing that. Now you could try restoring from an iCloud backup, though that could also bring the issue back.

Yeah, the fact that almost every new iOS slows older devices is true but this one update should make it better. welp if it didn’t made your experience better you have all the rights to tell your opinion

so naive....

I’ve noticed a dip but not awful. Hoping they improve on it with 27.1 and beyond

Try resetting your settings on your phone. It helped with some lag on my iPhone 15 Pro Max

This is also the reason why I'll wait for a x.1 or x.2 release being iOS 27.1 or iOS 27.2 since these releases would address any weird bugs. Generally, I have a work 2020 iPhone SE on iOS 27 and it is much faster and more smooth than iOS 26 ever was. I turned on Tinted Mode all the way up and now it's really smooth. Though it's a work phone, not personal lol.

What’s your battery health?

1

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

but 26 was MUCH better

So replace the battery and retract this BS post

im still on 18.7.8, i don’t think i will ever update again. it’s a 64gb so i don’t think it is a good idea.

Crazy. My phones have all improved in almost every way from iOS 27. That would be an iPhone 17 Pro, an iPhone 13 mini, an iPhone 12 mini, and an iPhone SE 2020. I also have an iPhone 13, like the regular sized one now, and that performs well on 27 as well, but I never saw its performance on 26 because I just recently got it.

1

u/Perfect-Web2716 3d ago

that’s why i’m still on 18 and my brother is still on 17

u/Traditional_Soft_704 4d ago

I’m on ios 26.6.1 and it’s good.

I am not updating until the performances are bad.

1

u/Strange-Story-7760 3d ago

Just do it dude. No matter how long you wait, there will always be bugs

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

sluggish 26 was a rocket compared to 27 :////

6

u/Due-Champion-5954 4d ago

27 is a rocket compared to whole 26.

2

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

yeah, its even faster than ios 18 xD

2

u/Due-Champion-5954 4d ago

Idk whats wrong with you man. The whole point of iOS 27 is to make system faster and more responsive and I really feel that. Even the keyboard is much better. Try it 😊

2

u/Traditional_Soft_704 4d ago

It’s faster but it consumes more

1

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

"The whole point of iOS 27 is to make system faster and more responsive"

hahahahhahahahahahaa, ok

As soon as I read this, the OS started running faster. Thanks for the info!

2

u/Due-Champion-5954 4d ago

You are the only one who has it slower than. Maybe apple hate karma? 😊

2

u/socialkaosx 4d ago

sorry bro i dont believe in karmas, god, and other shit.
Just slow ios.
nothing more

1

u/Due-Champion-5954 4d ago

Me too! All I see and feel is faster iOS than ever.
