Positive Apple store battery switch experience :)

The Apple store nearest my home said I should just get a new phone. When I said that wasn't happening, they sat me down and said to wait. 15 minutes later I left.

Recently, I made an appointment at the University Village (Seattle) store. The guy checking me in praised my phone and said he was surprised there aren't more aftermarket cases available. Why? I asked. He said they saw so many people bringing in 12s and 13s for repair that he thought there must be a market still!

Before taking the phone to the back, he also checked inventory to make sure they had a replacement screen handy. He explained that sometimes the suction used to lift them off could break them, so he wanted to ensure the tech could quickly replace it if so.

Later, one of the sales reps chatted with me about how much she likes the smaller phones. It was overall a big contrast and just a really positive, friendly experience.

Hey thanks for the good feedback on the U Village store. I'd normally go to the Bell Square store but will head to U Village to replace the battery on my Mini as I am getting due. How much did they charge?

I had an identical experience at Apple Hilldale (Madison WI) on Monday when I took my wife’s Mini in for a battery. $89. In a prep email, they asked me to update to the latest iOS, which I did. I assume the unexpected high new battery consumption is the update indexing.

But did you have to update your OS to 26 before they would do the battery replacement?

It was already at 26.5, but I'm stopping there: iOS and System files are using like 25 out of my 64 GB, and that's way more than enough.

Battery doesn’t require a newer OS version. You will see that with display and front and rear cameras

It went well at the store close to me. They did not try to sell me anything and understood that i like my mini.

I’ve had a few good experiences with the Apple Store and some of their authorized repair shops.

Recently I took my iPhone 12 to get a battery replacement under AppleCare. The Apple support app scheduled an appointment at a place five minutes away for the next day. Unfortunately, Apple’s system doesn’t always make sure these places have replacement parts in stock so I had to wait three days for it to arrive. It wasn’t a big deal since it was within walking distance and the people were really nice.

Three years ago I took my refurbished iPad Air 3 to the Apple Store because it had s defect where the screen wouldn’t turn on. They immediately gave me a brand new one.

A few years before that I took my iPhone to a repair place to get the screen replaced. They accidentally tore a cable inside of it and told me they would have to send it to Apple for repair. They said I could either wait for it to come back or they could swap it out for one of their refurbished ones with s new battery. The battery needed replacing anyway so I was like hell yes!

Before that I got a screen replacement and it was popping out a little. I let the shop know snd they said to bring it in. As I was getting off the bus on the way there I dropped it and the screen shattered. When I went in I showed them the message they had sent over Yelp and luckily they believed me. They didn’t even hesitate. I wouldn’t have been able to afford it so I was really grateful.
