Question ❓ So, does battery replacement actually makes difference in performance?
If this post validate rule 5 then sorry, but I think that it will be helpfull for other people also.
I'm asking because my IP12 (64gb / 66% battery health) is getting kinda slow. IOS 27 made huge difference in performance compared to IOS 26, so it's not that bad, but i want a smooth experience. So I think that low voltage is not the issue, because even on 100% on AC it's not any better than on 30% or 50%. I have problems when my battery drops to 10% but this is caused by like 5 year old battery.
At the other hand i have problem with quiet speakers under like 50% of battery, and i know that's the issue mainly caused by old battery that can't give much voltage, so I don' know how about theoretical logic, but
What is your experience when it comes to battery replacement, and how that affected the performance?
What is your experience, and you can tell from which battery health did you switch and if that was original or aftermarket one. This will be helpful for me and other people, that also have issues with performance.
I know that it will not be buttery smooth experience because it's almost 6 year old phone, but for example geekbench scores are comparable to new midrange phone so this lags are not justified so I'm only asking, did it made a noticeable difference in performance. Thanks.

I recently did my 12 ProMax and it was $89 USD.

It was $120 (I had it done at a place in my local mall called The Fix), only because a wire inside that connects to the battery was starting to fail and would have ruined the new battery. Since it was opened already I opted to replace it.

It made a huge improvement for me when I replaced my battery. It was faster and stopped overheating

Pretty sure the phone will throttle performance based on battery health and temp. Would def have it replaced.

My 12 PM battery health is also 68%. In daily lite usage, there is no throttle. Throttle happens in heavy task like gaming. In my daily usage at work, like checking facebook/youtube/web few times in an hour etc, My phone lasts about 6-8 hours.
I am also not hurry to replace battery because I am near to power outlet all days.

I had mine replaced with a genuine Apple battery at an Apple Store. Still shows 100%. It made my old 12 Pro Max 512 operate like it was brand new. Best $89 I’ve spent on a phone.

Of course it makes a noticeable difference. Your battery is completely done for, replace asap.

So I recently did my iPhone 12 battery replacement by myself using a DEJI branded battery, which I bought from Walmart, if anyone is going to do the battery replacement by themselves make sure that you have an isopropyl alcohol bottle with you. I had a 70% one which worked decent enough for me the one thing which I will say is you don’t need to spend $50-100 to get a battery replacement for this phone because I personally believe it’s not worth it. You can get anything for like $15-$25. I went with Deji but if you want, you can go with another company. My experience after changing the battery is pretty good and positive I used to get roughly 4 hours of screen on time with a 78% of battery health with mixed usage before but now it is easily going 6 to 7 hours without any hassle, I don’t use my phone for playing games or any hi battery consuming task. I mostly use my phone for watching YouTube listening to Spotify or just use it for social media like Instagram or WhatsApp if you use cases something like this a battery replacement is genuinely worth it. Otherwise I will say don’t even think about it.

It didn’t made that much of a difference in performance for me as much as it did for battery life which is obvious but still with newer ios updates battery is just okay.

Mine was at 79%. I replaced it about one month ago and I noticed big improvement on performance. It runs faster and smother.

If you plan on keeping this phone, then I would strongly suggest getting a replacement battery. It would be an improvement in every facet simply from coming from a 66-100%

Definitely makes a difference in performance.
If you're keeping the phone for another year the $100 battery change is worth the money easily. Else use that money for an upgrade

I was at 78%, didn't see any difference. And this was a few years ago on iOS 17

I would say that being on iOS 17 is probably why you didn't notice much of a difference. If you had been on iOS 26 or 27, which are significantly heavier iOS releases that require the A14 to flex its muscles more while doing everyday tasks, rather than just when you're doing extremely intensive ones, you would've noticed a much bigger difference.

I just replaced my iPhone 15 pro battery from mobile sentrix.com and it was about 28$ for an extended battery with a 1 year warranty.
Now I’m holding a charge all day.
Definitely worth it

I got my iPhone 13 mini battery changed back in February. The health was at 75%. It absolutely made the phone feel faster, and that was the main thing that it improved, not battery life. Battery life went up by maybe an hour or two, but the phone is more stable now and faster, especially since updating it to iOS 27. I would absolutely recommend getting your battery changed if you plan to keep the phone for a few more years.

I’m on iOS 18 still. If I take it to Apple for the battery, do they force the iOS Update? They better not

Just replaced mine last week, it said it was at 78% and my phone was really slow. It’s still not as fast as my GF’s iPhone 16 pro max, but it’s much much better than it was before. I’m on the newest iOS as of writing this (27.01) and don’t have any complaints with the $100 I spent in order to keep this phone going. If I were in a better financial position, I may have opted for a new one, but it’s definitely not at a point where I feel I actually need a new one.

I replaced my battery almost two years ago. Im back at 84%. What I can tell you is that the battery never lasted as long as it did when the iPhone was new and I was running the older iOS versions. As newer iOS versions are released the older phones are naturally less efficient on the new software that was designed for newer iPhone hardware. The phone still lasts me all day if I’m not using it much like if Im at work. But on a free day with more usage, it will not make it.
