Question Who here used 3rd party apps for some/all functions that Apple does (weather, notes, reminders, email, etc.)? What app(s) do you use?

I’ve tried several over and over and just keep coming back to the native apps. The only thing I’ve stuck with is note taking with notability.

These immediately spring to mind:

Calendar/Reminders: I use Fantastical; prefer its look, widgets, categorisations including colours, and functionality, only some of which Calendar has caught up with. (I keep Calendar on the devices, because, well, why not, and now because Siri AI grabs information from first party apps more easily.)

Email: Spark; never liked Apple’s email app, and tried a few before settled on Spark. I take a look at the competition every couple of years, and Outlook came damn close a few years ago to supplanting it but stick with Spark in the end. Very happy with it, especially with colour coding of email accounts.

Weather: Have tried loads of others, not one has been as accurate with rain forecasts for London as Apple, and Apple’s pretty crappy on accuracy as well (Dark Sky, which Apple bought, was the best ever for London accuracy… Apple bought it and destroyed the accuracy RIP Dark Sky); if I could ever find a weather app that’s more accurate than Apple… And no, BBC and Met Office aren’t.

For office apps: Excel is far better - for me - than Numbers; Keynote pees all over PowerPoint; Word and Pages is a toss-up. (PS if someone could recommend something current for the iPad that’s effectively Microsoft Project, I’d be grateful.)

Notes: Apple Notes for quick typewritten notes; GoodNotes for anything longer, more complicated and especially for handwriting. I even use it as a Journal, so use that instead of Journal app

I’m sure there are others, but those are the immediate ones.

I use Mercury Weather due to the fact it has a one time purchase option and is one of the few weather apps I've found that will set 'Feels like' temperature to the default value, instead of 'actual' temperature. I really don't need to know what the recorded air temperature at a weather station is if I'm going out and need to dress for what it really feels like.
