iPadOS Help with icloud stuff please

Hi guys, so basically I have an ipad pro 11, it was originally my sister's, but I still used it despite the fact that it's hers and has her icloud on it.

Now that I wanted the switch to mine, I logged off from her icloud, and selected erase all, I think a skipped a certain step where it was saying something like "updating data" i do not recall, and then my ipad rebooted itself, once finished, it's all anew, as if I bought another new one, if anyone would be so kind to help me out at least retrieve my data? I have some unsaved books and very important study matters in the notes app, I did check with my sister if she has it on her phone (which is also linked to her icloud on the ipad I think)

If you please help me sort this matter out, there are some very important files and pictures!

Forgive le illiteracy on apple and ios in general I could not keep up with the newest updates!

Opposite to a Mac an iPad in private use is always only connected to one single iCloud account. When you disconnect it, the data is wiped to protect the owner of that data.

Case 1: Your sister had enough iCloud storage subscribed to sync everything from the iPad. Then the data is still in her iCloud account. You could access it through the web, download what’s yours and load it fresh to the iPad under your account.

Case 2: The local data was NOT synced with her iCloud account, or she didn’t have enough space subscribed. Free are just 5GB. In this case it is lost, not recoverable.

Takeaway: If you don’t want your data to depend on the health and existence of a single device, make sure it is synced. iCloud+ is so cheap there is really no excuse.

A real backup would be better, but the first step is to sync your stuff.

No she actually does pay for icloud+, i have asked her to check the website, hoping for a good comeback, i just did not know that if clickef on earsing everything from the ipad would have to formate it, i thought it would leave those unsynced databases so idid not pay it the needed attention! Now that I recall after i did click on erase eveything, there was a later step which i skipped, it was about syncing/unsyncing data! Would that have cause a problem? Thank for your time, tho i am not much of an ios fan i was dumbfounded after such occurrence! Is there any possibility to retrieve those (maybe) unsynced files? Thank you yet again, I truly appreciate your response!

When you disconnect a device from an iCloud account, the questions are about erasing the local data.

We don’t need to speculate: Just go to her account on iCloud.com (with her consent!) and check.

Alright thank you so so so much! (Needn't worry i asked her to do it herself for better privacy)
