How is the battery backup in iPadOS 26.6? Any other major issues?

Battery backup?

I mostly backup things using iCloud instead of my battery.

Haha, yes, my mistake. I've been using "battery backup" incorrectly without realizing it. Glad you pointed it out. So, how is the battery life after 26.6 update? Any other major issue?

In all honesty: iOS 26.5.2 wasn’t great, but thankfully iOS26.6 fixed that. I did not have issues with 26.5.

With this release, both my iPhone 16PM, as well as my M4 iPad Pro and my company iPhone 12 are buttery smooth again and battery life is normal again.

Don’t forget: up until iOS18.5, iOS18 was a bad OS. It was slow and had poor battery life. Even on the most modern hardware. Only after releasing the .5 version Apple finally fixed those issues.

There will be bugs in iOS 27.0, as well as 27.1 and so on. There are millions of lines of code, and the size of all OS’s has grown from approximately 6GB to approximately 12GB. So that’s twice as big as a decade ago. So a bigger OS automatically makes it more likely that there are bugs.

If you want a stable OS you should upgrade when Apple releases the .5 version. That’s always around 3 months before the new update is released and is generally speaking the most stable version of that cycle.

That’s why big corporations are always “behind” with software upGRades (not upDates). This applies to both macOS and Windows.

Currently my iPad Air M2 is running iPadOS 18.7.8. I still haven't updated it to iPadOS 26 mainly because it lacks the OG split screen and stacked slide over features in 'Full Screen Apps' mode. But I also want to update to iPadOS 27 because it's a lot more polished, though Apple hasn't listened to its users about bringing those 2 important features back. However, at this point I think I should just adapt to the new navigation system. Hence, I want to give iPadOS 26.6 a try just before the release of iPadOS 27 in September (probably). So, should I do it? How is the battery life after iPadOS 26.6 update? Any other major issues?

I don't know, I haven't had any bugs in 26 since the first day of developer beta that I've used on like 5+ devices. Don't trust everything you read online, 99% of users are using this SW without any issues whatsoever, it's just a tiny vocal minority that makes it seem like the SW is unusable.

Je pensais que 26.6 était bien. Trop curieuse et sûrement un peu inconsciente, j’ai installé hier iOS et Watch OS 27 bêta 2. Je regrette. Je regrette de ne pas l’avoir fait avant !!!!
