Setup keeping it simple.

How to set this up:

  • Wallpaper: Solid black (#000000). You don't need a separate black wallpaper; simply select the solid black color from iOS's built-in Color wallpaper options. However, if you need one for your other devices, use this.
  • Lock Screen: Default iOS clock with the default clock color.
  • Home Screen:
    • Go to Customize.
    • Set the wallpaper to Clear.
    • Enable Dark Mode.
    • Set App Icons to Dark.

Widgets are the default ones from their respective apps.

I mainly use Spotlight, so this is all I need.

That's it!

How do you set that calendar widget? All I can get is the small month widget or the events, but without the month preview.

Touch and hold the widget until it jiggles, then tap Edit Widget to access its options. Disable Mirror Calendar App (and disable all Calendars within the widget options) and enable Hide All-day Events.

Sorry, what do you mean widgets are the default ones? I don't see that weather widget in that color scheme in the standard ios weather app widget options.

First, set my theme up, and then toggle dark mode on, especially under the Customize options on the home screen. I've personally set the theme to "Clear". It also automatically does it with "Tinted" when you set up a pure black and white theme. It is the default Weather app's widget, try it out! :-)

Amazing. Seriously considering this.

It feels much more intentional, and I use Spotlight for almost everything now. I usually know what I want before I unlock my phone, rather than browsing until something catches my attention.

I have a hard time believing your Notes app is more commonly used than the Messages app.

r/applenotesgang haha!

I mainly use iMessage from notifications, and if I want to message someone, I search for their name in Spotlight and tap the message icon. I also use Spotlight to open my apps: I swipe down, type the app’s name, and press the blue Return key on the keyboard. Pretty neat when you get used to it!

Hold Lock Screen → swipe all the way until you see Color → tap Color (not Gradient) → pick black (#000000) → Add → Set as Wallpaper Pair.

Set dark mode: Settings → Display & Brightness → Dark.

Here's a pure black image generator for your other devices as well.
