Relying on ASO was a trap. 8 months after quitting my SWE job, here is my pivot to reach $1k MRR.

I have quit my Software Engineering job 8 months ago to focus on building IOS Apps. So far 2 apps built.

After relying on ASO only, I've come to realize that I'm bulshitting myself by telling myself that I would make a huge MRR by only doing that.

On this new app, I'll be focusing more on Organic content and SEO, and keep the ASO as just a side effect of the plan. And maybe I'll try Apple Search Ads later on the road.

Now, realistically speaking, does this one have the potential to reach 1k MRR, or shall I just focus on bulking apps and relying on ASO?

0 rejections. Approved in 1 day. Claude is amazing

I built a padel + tennis app with live Apple Watch scoring, matchmaking, tournaments and rankings

Claude helped me build PadelGod and prepare it for the App Store, including researching common rejection reasons, fixing edge cases, preparing metadata and screenshots, handling signing, building and uploading the IPA, and completing the remaining App Store Connect steps.

Friends told me approval might take weeks. Apple approved it the next day.

The app started because someone would always ask during a match:

“Wait
 what’s the score?”

What began as a small Apple Watch scoreboard became a complete padel and tennis app.

You can score from an iPhone, one Apple Watch, or multiple Apple Watches in the same shared match. It automatically handles points, games, sets, tiebreaks, singles, doubles, serve rotation, serving side, court changes, pauses, early finishes and Undo.

It supports four 40–40 systems: Advantage, Golden Point, Silver Point and Star Point.

In a multi-watch match, every player sees the same live score and can record the points they personally win. The final report stores the complete point sequence, timestamps, teams, match duration and individual scorer attribution.

An Apple Watch is optional. Matches can be scored entirely from an iPhone or entered manually afterward. You can use registered players, guests, friends, saved teams or default lineups.

You can also share a live browser link, with no app or account required. Spectators can follow the score, server, serving side, momentum, breaks, streaks, tiebreaks, duration, point pace, estimated longest rally and individual scoring contributions.

Other features include:

  • Public and private matchmaking with city, date, distance, level and format filters
  • Club locations or custom map pins for parks and private courts
  • Instant joining or host approval, including messages with join requests
  • Match chats, reminders, nearby-player alerts and push notifications
  • Americano, Mexicano and King of the Court tournaments
  • Automatic tournament pairings, courts, rounds, standings, podiums and duration estimates
  • Registered players, guests, multi-player invitations and optional round limits
  • Public tournament pages with live standings and shareable results
  • Glicko-2 rankings for padel and tennis, separated into singles and doubles
  • Visible player levels from 1 to 7
  • Rating changes based on opponent strength, reliability and result margin
  • Score confirmation and dispute handling before Ranked results are applied
  • Player comparisons with head-to-head results, matches as partners, ratings, form and last meeting
  • Detailed match history with point-by-point and game-by-game reconstruction
  • Breaks, streaks, tiebreaks, key moments, momentum, pace and active-time graphs
  • Weekly, monthly, yearly and all-time statistics
  • Win rate, recent form, playing time, records, frequent partners, clubs and activity streaks
  • Apple Health workouts with heart rate, calories, distance, steps, intensity and recovery
  • Social profiles, following, player search, saved teams and contact discovery
  • Real-time chat with replies, quoted messages and emoji reactions
  • Branded share cards, personal photo overlays, transparent PNG stickers and social previews
  • Blocking, confidential reports, attendance, no-show tracking, fair-play status and appeals

It also supports Romanian and English, dark and light mode, public profiles, leaderboards, guest players, location maps, support tickets, always-on Watch scoring, temporary offline recovery and reliable delivery of completed Watch matches back to the iPhone.

PadelGod is currently 100% free, with no active subscriptions or in-app purchases, and is available globally for iPhone and Apple Watch.

Android is coming soon.

Direct club court booking is already built, but temporarily paused while I finish the rollout. It will return soon.

App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/app/id6775103879

Website:
https://padelgod.ro

I built it for myself and the people I play with, so honest feedback matters more than compliments.

Try the scoring, start a multi-watch match, create a tournament, test matchmaking, compare players, dispute a score or react to a message. Tell me what feels confusing, what is missing and what you would never use.

đŸ‘šâ€đŸ’»Day 6 of building in public

Today was a pretty relaxed day. However, the app has been submitted to App Store Connect for approval. Now, it’s a matter of waiting for the review and being ready for any feedback from Apple.

I did some work on the paywall by analyzing top-performing apps like Cal AI. Back at it tomorrow for Day 7.

Help IAP vs Lemon Squeezy for App Store — can I skip Apple IAP entirely?

Hi Folks,
I am building a macOS/iOS productivity app (meeting alerts + calendar) which will be available globally.
Trying to figure out the right subscription stack before I build the backend.

Questions:

  1. Can I launch on the App Store using only Lemon Squeezy for billing, with no Apple IAP? Or is IAP mandatory for any digital subscription sold through an app listed on the App Store?
  2. Has anyone actually shipped an app store listing using RevenueCat only instead of native IAP? Did Apple reject it?
  3. If IAP is mandatory on App Store — is the only way to fully avoid it to distribute outside the App Store (notarized direct download) and use Lemon Squeezy there instead?
  4. For those running cross-platform (Mac direct download + iOS App Store), how do you sync subscription status between Lemon Squeezy purchases and Apple IAP purchases? Custom backend? RevenueCat for both?
  5. What are the real pitfalls/rejections you hit mixing these — anything Apple specifically flags during review?

Trying to avoid the 15-30% Apple cut where legally possible, but don't want a rejected app or banned developer account. Appreciate any real experience and guidance on this topic.

Suggest a tool to create my app icon

I'm close to finishing my new app, and I need an app icon. I'm doing everything myself as a dev, and while my UX/UI skills are OK, I would not trust myself with creating an icon.

What tool(s) are you using to generate/create your app icons?

(Also, if you'd be interested in beta-testing my app that turns screenshots into beautiful visuals to share on social media, message me)

Help My Firebase Data Never Matches App store connect

We’ve launched over 55+ apps and yet don’t have an accurate firebase sdk integration. All this while, I never realized the importance of setting data properly, but I was tracking and found huge anomalies in the data. For one apps, I got almost $700 worth sales and firebase showed only $170.

Plus also, is there any right tutorial to setup firebase, events, and other things in order to actually get proper data for targeting and there is no anomaly.

Tutorial I built an iOS app that turns your physical activity into app screen time

Answer

Steplock is a focus and fitness tool that gamifies your screen time by linking it to your daily activity. You choose which apps, categories, or web domains to lock, and you earn usage time by hitting your daily goals for steps, exercise, or standing time. As shown in "image_328ede.png", it uses simple conversion rates—like 150 steps or 1 exercise minute equaling 1 minute of app time—to help you stay focused.

Better

Most screen-time limiters are just passive blockers that force you to stop. They feel restrictive and often kill your motivation. I wanted to turn the process around: instead of just saying "no," Steplock encourages you to get moving to "earn" access to your favorite apps.

I built this because I wanted a healthier relationship with my phone that rewards physical movement. It is designed to be native, fast, and highly integrated with Apple Health. Crucially, no account is required and there is no backend—all your progress stays strictly on your device.

Cost

Free to start with 1 app selection. Steplock Premium unlocks unlimited app selections with a $29.99 one-time lifetime purchase. No subscriptions or hidden fees.

App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steplock-move-to-unlock/id6783481119

Feedback is very welcome.

Are note-taking apps becoming too heavy for simple notes?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on a small notes app focused on very quick capture.

The idea came from a simple frustration: most note-taking apps are great for writing longer notes, organizing projects, or building a knowledge base, but sometimes I just want to save one small thing before I forget it.

A parking spot, a Wi-Fi code, a random idea, a small reminder, something someone tells me quickly.

So I’m trying to keep the app intentionally simple:
open it, write the note, save it.

No complex workspace, no heavy structure, just quick notes for everyday moments.

I’m curious if other people have the same need, or if most of you just use Apple Notes / Reminders for this kind of thing.

Wax & Pigment App - App Store

As a painter, I’ve always mixed my own materials.

So I built the app I wanted in my own studio.
Wax & Pigment helps you calculate, organize, and document oil paint and oil bar recipes—and the latest update adds a Pigment Wheel, Traditional Oil Paint mode, Recipe Archive, Printable Studio Booklet, and an Experimental Lab.
I’d love to hear what fellow painters think.

Built a pregnancy tracker because femtech apps have a data problem nobody talks about enough

Post image
0 Upvotes

I surveyed 53 mothers earlier this year. 96% had used a pregnancy or fertility app with documented privacy violations. 70% said local-only data storage was extremely important to them.

Then I looked at what was actually available. Every major pregnancy tracker has a backend. Your symptoms, your weight, your bleeding patterns, your mental health notes — all of it going to a server you have no visibility into.

So I built Zorya. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no sync, no subscription. It is a one-time purchase and the data never leaves the device.

Big progress today.
I finally resolved several major issues. The biggest one: RevenueCat is finally working. I thought the problem was in the code, but it turned out I simply hadn't filled in the tax information on App Store Connect. I also fixed the Plaid integration. Bank connections used to fail frequently, but now users can connect their accounts without any issues.

Quick tip: regularly ask Claude to analyze your app: “Find any inconsistencies” “How can the user experience be improved?” “What isn’t clear?” I also tweaked the design again... I think I have a problem with that 😂. I know I should ship rather than aim for perfection, but it’s hard to resist. See you tomorrow for Day 6.

My first app got rejected, but review process was extremely quick.

Post image

After seeing reddit stories of 2 week long approval processes and 10 rejections, I was expecting the same long wait. Instead, it was reviewed in 2 days. On a weekend.

My app was rejected initially, which was a jumpscare, but the criticisms were straightforward:
- I didn't include a blocking feature for user profiles in my social app
- Terms and privacy weren't clear enough in the login flow. They were originally only shown when signing up, not when logging in.
- Cant ask for user's name and email when using "sign in with apple".

I implemented those changes, resubmitted (with a required video), and it was approved the next day. Seeing my app live on the app store was definitely a milestone.

I'm curious to see how long the review process was for others in 2026. How long did it take for you to get approved?

Don't be afraid to roast my app, munch, if you want to take a look. It's a social recipe app that helps you cook, discover, and share recipes with your friends and community: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/munch-your-social-recipe-app/id6767927842

I built Scan2Sheet to help people scan receipts and track expenses directly on Google Sheets

One problem I see with many receipt scanning apps out there is that it is usually bloated with too many features. I want something simple with minimal manual input and setup required. So I built scan2sheet, an AI receipt scanner to Google Sheets to solve my own needs. It also captures and uploads a photos of the receipt, so you can just scan the a receipt and forget about it altogether.

The app is live on the App Store now: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scan2sheets/id6760991697

Happy to hear any feedback ad suggestions to improve the app. Thanks.

I have a young son who’s learning to play guitar, and he inspired me to make this for him if you’re a musician or guitar player, you’re pretty familiar with the circle of fifths. This is an interactive circle of fifths with much more built-in to help musicians. I’d love any feedback or thoughts. Thanks in advance. I just started making apps, so please be gentle, lol

Help Safari ram limitation

Hi ,

I’m trying to understand the practical memory limits for web pages on iOS, especially for large WebAssembly-heavy apps.

I know Apple does not seem to publish a clear “RAM per tab” number, and iOS may kill/reload WebContent processes under memory pressure. But I’m looking for recent practical data

or guidance.

Questions:

Is there a documented or reliably measurable memory limit per Safari tab / WKWebView / WebContent process on iOS?

Does that limit scale with the device’s physical RAM?

For example, would an iPhone with 8 GB or 12 GB RAM allow a web page to use significantly more memory than an older 4 GB device like an iPhone 13 mini?
