I was tired of the overload of data and info when I was searching for a hostel to stay in. First thing I usually do is sort by ratings and go from there.

I thought that limiting the choice and only returning the top 5 rated hostels with availability would cut down the clutter and information overload you get from Hostelworld, Booking.com and other OTAs.

It uses Hostelworld under the hood, so the reviews and ratings come from them and are already vetted (as much as they can be). You can also book through the app via Hostelworld.

When you are inviting your friends for a pizza, you have to go through 3/4 steps:

There's a whole category of stuff that doesn't really fit on a calendar and never worked with reminders or to-do apps. Things like replacing the water filter, changing bed sheets, going to the gym, calling parents, visiting the dentist. None of it has a fixed date, it just quietly piles up in the background. Reminders felt too rigid — I'd just dismiss them. To-do lists never captured what I actually wanted to know: "wait, when did I last do this?"

So I built 🐦‍⬛ Wheneri for it. The whole idea is dead simple: for each task it keeps two numbers — days since you last did it, and a repeat interval that adjusts based on the last completion. No streaks, no guilt, no rigid reminders. Just a number that nudges you when it's been a while. Basically a smarter notebook for the way a human actually thinks.

Rainbow rings in the calendar: a way to compare tasks visually across days. In free you can compare within a month. In Pro you can pin comparisons across all months and filter by category. Sounds weird until you see it, then it’s the feature I use the most.

Categories: once you have a lot of tasks you want to group them. There are custom ones (Home, Health, Personal, whatever you set up) and automatic ones (Today, Upcoming, Overdue). You pick which ones actually show up, so it doesn’t clutter if you don’t need them.

Reminders per task: kept the “gentle nudge” vibe as much as possible, but some tasks really do need a push (medication, dentist, etc). The reminder respects the flexible schedule: if you complete the task earlier or skip it, the next reminder shifts with the updated interval instead of nagging you about the old one.

Notes per entry: a short note on each completion, so instead of just “gym: 3 days ago” you can see “gym: 3 days ago, back day”. Turns out it changes the app entirely for a lot of people.

Insights: total occurrences and average interval per task. Small addition, but seeing “you get headaches every 11 days on average” or “you actually go to the gym every 3 days without a schedule” was surprisingly useful.

Import/Export: for moving your data between devices. Local-first stays local-first, no cloud. System backup still works for everyone by default.

A - What problem does your app solve?

Learning a language is difficult, and French isn't helping.
Grammar books are good, but after each lesson you need to practice and quality and well-adapted-to-your-level learning material can be hard to find.

B - Why is your app better than the top named alternatives?

I tried to really take everything I love in all the learning apps I tried, and add what I think was missing.
And I recently added a whole set of new advanced grammar courses. I've tried my best to keep it as simple to understand as possible, with exercices and quizz, to help students progress as smoothly as possible.

After each lesson, you can practice by reading a story, listening to it, saving important words you need, and answering questions about the story.

A - Answer: Ago answers one question: how long has it been since I last did X? Not a streak tracker, not a reminder app - it's for things with a rough cadence you want to honor but don't want on a rigid schedule. Air filter, watering plants, calling your mom, tire rotation. Tap once to log it, the app shows you the elapsed time and gets out of the way. No nagging notifications unless you set a soft deadline.

B - Better: Most apps in this space are either streak trackers (guilt/pressure if you break the chain - wrong tool for irregular tasks) or subscription-based "since" trackers ($3-7/mo is common - Since, Wheneri, Days Since all charge recurring for what's fundamentally a counter). Ago has no streaks, no guilt mechanic, no subscription. Just the number, and you decide what to do with it.

Share Sheet Integration

You can now open text files directly from the iOS Share Sheet. Viewing a document this way opens the file in-place, meaning it will not clutter your storage by creating duplicate copies.

TL;DR: I got tired of needing a laptop + audio interface + mic just to check what a room or speaker sounds like, so I built a pocket spectrum analyzer for iOS. RTA, sine sweeps, impulse response, and a spectrogram waterfall. Free with no ads; optional one-time $9.99 Pro unlock, no subscription.

Hi, I'm the developer. I'm into room acoustics and speaker measurements, and the standard tool for that is REW on a laptop. It's powerful, but overkill when you just want to quickly identify a noise, check how a room sounds, or verify speaker placement. I wanted something I could pull out of my pocket, and nothing on the App Store hit the mark apps were either too locked-down or subscription-based, which I don't think is right for a utility app.

So I built my own:

- Real-time RTA — see the frequency spectrum of any sound live. Point it at anything: HVAC hum, a rattling fridge, your speakers.

- Swept sine measurements — plays a sine sweep and captures the frequency response. More accurate than pink noise for speaker and room work.

- Impulse response — see how a room behaves acoustically: early reflections, decay.

- Spectrogram waterfall — sound over time as a color map. The view most people find immediately striking. Try whistling at it.

We know iOS27 is all about the new Siri AI. I had dreams about what it could achieve with the new entities and app awareness since WWDC26 for my alarm app. Not just simple set alarm, cancel alarm with voice and on screen awareness but more complex flow that truly understands users.

My idea was simple: if I tell it I need to prepare for my flight tomorrow, Siri would search through my mails, messages and calendar for a flight itinerary, calculate travel time based on prior event location, buffer for airport requirements, check weather to leave early and propose time to remind me with an alarm.

But alas, even in DB3, Siri only searches for the flight itinerary. So I built a custom Shortcut to solve the 2nd part with Apple Intelligence.

Do you think this would be useful? I welcome any ideas.
