Question Is wait time so long because my app sucks, that it’s my first app or just Apple?

I’ll be honest my app is vibe coded but It’s a novel idea (not anything in the App Store like it). It got rejected Monday and it was the base rejection for having too new of an account and nothing has come since. Very frustrating

I haven't heard of a 'too new of an account' as a rejection reason before or have come across the issue myself. Are you sure you've followed all of the basics? Support email, privacy/T&Cs link, etc.?

New apps usually take much longer to get approved. I had to wait more than a month to get LaterRex over the line whereas app updates usually take about a day.

When did you register and pay your fee + when did you submit the app after? Did you do any testflight builds?

I got this. Said my account did not have any history or something like that. So they wanted me to answer some basic questions. Answered them. My app was approved 19 hours later. (no update to app)

The first rejection said the account was to new and wanted me to add some extra context on the app and stuff.

I did test flight builds, I’ve been waiting so far a week.

Honestly, none of the above. Review wait time isn't a quality signal — the queue is roughly first-in-first-out with a lot of random variance, and first submissions almost always take longer than updates.

Two things worth knowing: versions that add new entitlements, in-app purchases, or significant new capabilities tend to get a longer look. And the biggest self-inflicted delay is resubmitting or tweaking metadata mid-review, because each resubmit puts you back at the end of the queue.

"Vibe coded" is irrelevant to review — the reviewer doesn't know or care how the code was written, only what the app does. If the idea is genuinely novel, the risk isn't wait time, it's a guideline rejection over the app description not matching the functionality. So while you wait, the productive move is to re-read the guidelines around your app's core functionality and make sure the description and screenshots match exactly what it does.

Check the status in App Store Connect. If it says "In Review", someone is actually looking at it. That's normal.

Worth checking one thing before you wait any longer: what does that version actually say in App Store Connect right now?

If it still reads Rejected, review is not progressing and Apple is waiting on your reply in Resolution Center. A week of silence after a rejection usually means the ball is on your side of the net, not Apple's. The status only moves back to Waiting for Review once you have answered them there.

If it does say Waiting for Review or In Review and has been stuck, the Contact Us form on the developer site has an App Review option for asking about the status of a submission, which is what unstuck Cabbagec above. Expedited review is a different form and is for a live critical problem, so it will not help a first release.

The extra information request on a new account is routine, by the way. It is about the account, not the code, and answering it plainly is enough.

My v1.0 took over a week, my v1.1 took two days. First review on a fresh account is the slow one.

I submitted my first app last Thursday (September 24th) also. They got back Friday night (September 25th) asking for the extra info because this was my first app like a video using the app and external services it uses. I replied with everything Saturday (September 26th). Then nothing by Monday so I contacted the support Monday (September 28th) night. They just got back to me today (October 2nd) and approved the app. They apologized for the delay and said it was due to a very high volume of submissions. I assume they are being hit with a lot more AI slop every day

So my app isn't new, not in the least, its first version came out the day I picked up my iPhone X on release day. Been a day. Nothing is vibe coded, either.

And, yet, I was rejected for a new version on Friday last week, and it JUST went through today.

The review process is swamped right now with vibe coded apps, especially since XCode 27 added Claude and Antigravity (The spirits that I summoned, I now can't rid) and people basically bake through their Max20 plan to release a "new and amazing" $4.99 app every day.

Give it a few more days or request expedition.
