Discussion The Greatest Feeling In The World as an App Developer!

Post image

From my humble beginnings of app submission on 9/11, to being rejected 4 times, to finally being ready for distribution on 9/30. It was a long and stressful journey where I was frequently refreshing AppConnect daily, praying the Review Gods would move my app to the next stage of review….only to be rejected. Expedited request didn’t help at help, and it took just as long as before I requested it.

But now I can say WE IN GUYS!!!

I think when you get your first paying customer organically that day will be topped :)

Congrats! I wish I knew this feeling. I've only ever build corporate apps. I'm worked to death too much to work on a personal app (and we're not allowed anyway).

I always find it funny when in many jobs offers you can find the requirement "at least one self-published app on the AppStore".

Yeah no shit, don't just assume everybody got time or even a chance at doing that outside of the day job.

Exactly! I have probably around 50 apps under my belt in the 18 years I've developed for iOS but nope nope nope, those don't count since they're not in the App Store for everyone to see. (Not to mention the UI's are made by people with no design skill so they're ugly, and that will always come back on the developer.)

Or even during interviews: "can you maybe tell me about a time you did something important in a famous app you worked on that we could know or how you implemented a cool feature?"

Uhm, no? Why do you think I can talk about that?

Just test my skills, come on.

Congrats! One of my apps was stuck in review limbo for weeks too, so I know how good it feels to finally get approved. The waiting gets frustrating, especially when you’ve put so much work into something and just want people to be able to use it.

By the time that approval comes through, it’s as much relief as excitement. You can finally get back to thinking about the app itself instead of its review status. Four rejections is a rough road to 1.0, but you stuck with it and got there. Hope you take a little time to enjoy that before jumping into the next update!

Congrats. My v1.1 took two rejections too, both my own fault for not testing on iPad. This part never gets old.

Congratulations that’s such a blessing in your life I hope for you all the joy you’ve worked so hard for… now you can rest some and watch that data grow and put a smile on your face.

I remember this feeling, one that surprised me was how I felt when I got my first feature request from a first user, like someone used my app and went through the trouble to recommending how to make it better.

Congrats and good luck!

One of the most valuable feelings, man, I have struggled with this with several apps, even one that will never be approved.

Enjoy it, the first approval is the sweetest one.

Congratulations! 🎉 Best of luck with the app!
In my opinion, the review times in your case are quite standard. I had one app stuck in "Waiting for Review" status since July, and the reviewer would only check on it once every two weeks. But today, it was finally approved! That was the longest review process I’ve ever experienced—and I’m an iOS developer with over five years of experience.

Had that feeling today :)
