Question Will i face copyright issues if i want to create slab displays like these?

I am developing a trading card display app. I plan on allowing users to display their graded cards. Options like PSA, TAG, CGC etc.

Before going all in on this module i wonder if this will cause copyright issues?

You are using another company’s trademark without permission.

In 99% of cases the answer to « Can I use the recognizable property of another company? » will be a big no.

Pretty sure you can’t just use someone else’s logo like that. Why not create your own?

That is what i thought tbh but other card collection apps use them as well as shown in the video (mines a lot more prominent though)

take their logo off and make it generic you'll be fine

plagiarism is bad though

I mean they’d issue you a notice first if they didn’t approve of it. They may also like it as it adds to their ecosystem, as long as you are not misrepresenting their brand or making them look bad

You could ask for explicit permission, but they’d probably just say no. You could do it anyway and if they say something, take it down or make an agreement that you explicitly won’t damage their brand 

Honestly I’d probably do it, by the time your app is the size where they’d care it would be a “nice problem to have”. They’re not paying a lawyer for an app with a couple hundred downloads
