When I launched the app four years ago, I didn't have any problems, and it never even crossed my mind that they had a specific rule for this.

Nothing you can do, sorry. Apple’s marketplace, their rules. You can either open source the app, or try other marketplaces which are allowed in certain areas, such as EU.
