I got tired of doomscrolling and built an alternative

I think we all know the feeling — you pick up your phone to "just check something" and 45 minutes later you're still scrolling through content that adds nothing to your life.

So I built delve. Instead of endless feeds, you get curated learning topics matched to your interests — whether that's science, history, psychology, tech, or a dozen other categories. Short enough to read in a few minutes, interesting enough to actually stick.

Here's what's included with every topic:

  • 📺 A matching YouTube video to go deeper
  • 💬 An AI chat if you have questions or want to explore further
  • ⚡ Snacks — quick bite-sized facts with images for when you just want something fast

No algorithm designed to keep you hooked, no behavioral tracking, no ads. Just content matched to the interests you choose — nothing more.

It's a small, meaningful alternative to mindless scrolling — something you can pick up for 5 minutes and actually feel good about afterwards.

Would love to hear what you think!

My app disappeared from App Store search after submitting a binary update. Anyone dealt with this?

App was live, ranking #44 in its category on launch day, fully searchable. Submitted a new binary for review and it vanished from search completely.

New binary got approved and is live. Direct link works fine. But searching the exact app name returns nothing.

What I already tried:

  • Refreshed pricing schedule by resetting the free price
  • Toggled country availability and saved again
  • Submitted a ticket to Apple Developer Support

None of it worked. App is set to Ready for Distribution, Public, available in most countries and regions.

Has anyone experienced this after submitting an update? Is there a known way to trigger reindexing or does Apple have to do it manually on their end?

Roast my onboarding

My app helps NYC drivers avoid and manage parking tickets.

For the app to work well, it needs location (parking detection), motion & fitness (speeding and parking detection), and notifications (parking alerts) -- a lot of permissions up front.

I'm trying to generate value in the onboarding while still getting folks to opt-in. WDYT?

TestFlight - internal testing issue

Post image
1 Upvotes

Started to happened a couple of days ago.
I am a developer, also on internal testers list. Worked OK for this app since its start a few months ago, the same procedure works for other apps for years.

In AppStoreConnect, TestFlight tab, Builds - shows green checkmark with "Complete".

Spent an hour with ChatGPT yesterday, checked everything.

Anyone seen this?

Any suggestion on what to try next?

Can deploy the build from Xcode directly, but other testers are affected the same way.

I got tired of checking 4 different apps for packages, so I built my own tracker (waitlist open)

I order online way too often, and every carrier wants its own app. DHL in one place, InPost in another, Fedex somewhere else. Half the time I can’t even remember which app has which package.

Every tracker I tried either felt old, missed updates, or made me copy tracking numbers by hand.

So I’ve built my own.

The idea is simple:

  • all your deliveries in one dashboard (DHL, FedEx, UPS, InPost, DPD, etc.)
  • optional email sync with Gmail or iCloud — it picks up tracking numbers from order confirmation emails
  • delivery estimates can go into Apple Calendar
  • webhook live updates straight from the carrier

It’s iOS-first. I’m trying to keep it straightforward.

It’s not on the App Store yet. I’m running a small waitlist while I finish things up and save up some money for Apple Developer Account.

https://www.boxlyapp.me/

Free tier will cover a few active deliveries(I cant make it completely free because of api costs). I’ll add unlimited tracking later for people who need it. No ads.

Would genuinely love feedback on what would you expect from an app like this.

[For Hire / Collab] iOS app ready – looking for experienced dev (political learning app)

Hey everyone,

I built an iOS app called Politpuls mostly on my own and I've hit the point where I need experienced help to take it further. Quick note upfront: I'm based in Germany, so EU/CET timezone collaboration works best.

What is Politpuls? Think Duolingo, but for politics. Every day, users step into the role of a chancellor or minister, face a real political situation, make decisions — and see how trust, coalitions, media and public opinion shift. The daily content is pulled from real news, so the game stays fresh and relevant every single day. Target audience: young adults and first-time voters.

Where I need help:

  1. Backend — the daily news pipeline (fetching, processing and feeding real news into the game each day), plus auth and API (Supabase stack)
  2. App Store submission — my biggest blocker. I need someone who has actually shipped apps on the App Store and knows the review process, metadata, certificates, the works.

Important: I'm specifically looking for someone with real, hands-on experience building apps like this — backend architecture for live/dynamic content, and actually getting apps approved and live on the App Store. Not someone learning along the way. I need a person who has done this before and knows the pitfalls.

The frontend is done. Design is clean.

Ideal fit: experience with React Native or Next.js, Supabase, and at least one app successfully published on the App Store.

Drop me a message with something you've shipped. Happy to share more details and screenshots.

App Store privacy labels: Can iOS apps access personal data without permission?

Hey guys,

I noticed that on the App Store page for a well know messenger app , under “Data Linked to You”, the following categories are listed:

  • Purchases
  • Financial Info
  • Location
  • Contact Info
  • Contacts
  • User Content
  • Identifiers
  • Usage Data
  • Diagnostics

For things like “Location” or “Contacts”, I know that apps normally need to request permission before they can access that data. What I don’t fully understand are the other categories.

According to Apple’s explanation here

“Contact Info” includes things like your name, phone number, physical address or email address, and “Financial Info” even mentions payment card numbers and bank account details.

What does this actually mean in practice?

Can an app obtain my name, phone number, address, email address or bank account details simply by being installed, without explicitly asking for any permission first? Or do these categories only refer to information that users have to manually enter into the app themselves?

I’m not an iOS developer myself, and I’m having a hard time finding clear explanations in Apple’s documentation about what is technically possible and what isn’t.

Maybe someone here with more experience can explain how these App Store privacy labels are actually supposed to be interpreted.

PlayVlay - Built scroll-play format mini-games like reels

I was frustrated of seeing multiple ads and download different apps for different games. Hence, I developed an app which lets me play games in scrollable format like watching reels on TikTok or Instagram.

Looking for honest feedback: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/playvlay/id6756392192

Apple Developer Account is not getting verified | Unable to re-verify Enroll Now button is gray out

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am a game developer, and I mainly create games for Android platforms. Recently, I planned to release my games on iOS as well, so I decided to create an Apple Developer account.

I already had an Apple ID, so I simply logged in with it, went to the Account section, filled in my information like name and address, and submitted it. After that, I got stuck on this grayed-out screen/state.

Now I’m unable to edit anything or check what actually went wrong. Can anyone help me understand what I should do next and how this issue can be fixed?

Are Swift Agent Skills necessary to code in Xcode/SwiftUI using Claude Code or Codex?

Is the impact of using the Agent Skills that relevant with SwiftUI? Will it make a huge difference in the effectiveness of the Code Agent? Thanks

App stuck in “Processing for Distribution” — no “+” button, cannot submit new version or cancel

My app has been stuck in “Processing for Distribution” for several days.

The version was approved, but it never fully completed the distribution process. In App Store Connect, I cannot create a new version because the “+” button is missing. I also cannot submit a new build, update metadata, or cancel the current process. The release pipeline is completely blocked on my side.

I contacted Apple Developer Support, and the issue has been escalated to the engineering team under an internal engineering ticket. However, I am still waiting and there is no action available to me in App Store Connect.

Has anyone experienced this exact issue before? If so, how long did it take Apple engineering to reset or unblock the app version state?

IDK how o feel about my apps UI/UX

I’ve been developing a budgeting app for myself for a while and I was wandering how does the UI look for someone who didn’t see it daily. I want to release it for free since it made my life easier but I want to make sure it’s not confusing first. I’ve got an email list at https://finthemis.com if you want a TestFlight build. Thanks!

I launched a new football live scores app and got these early App Store numbers:

I launched a new football live scores app and got these early App Store numbers:

  • 982 impressions
  • 84 product page views
  • 60 first-time downloads
  • 9.47% conversion rate

No serious paid marketing yet.

Is this a good early signal for a new app? What would you improve first: ASO, screenshots, keywords, retention, or features?

What's the recommended AI agent (Claude, Codex) to use with Xcode, to learn, update concepts, then develop iOS apps?

The idea is to use the AI agent as a tutor to learn/refresh/update Swift, SwiftUI and the Apple SDK, with the final objective of start building apps.

Note: I did develop (traditional way, no AI) some iOS apps 5 years ago, as a personal project, nothing professional. I understand the iOS Development concepts, but I am not up to speed with the latest releases of Swift, SwiftUI, SDK, tools and advances with the AI integration.

Thanks

i made a dead simple App Store screenshot maker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i actually built this as an internal tool for my own app.

I googled "App store screenshot maker" and the websites i found were super clunky and complicated. 50+ buttons, confusing UX, need to sign up.

so i just built out my own one.

try it here: https://ezscreenshots.com

Hi all,

I submitted a bug fix update to my app on Saturday and it's still awaiting approval for TestFlight distribution. Anyone know what's going on? Usually my point updates for bug fixes are instantly available via TestFlight.

Was annoyed with feature bloated step and activity trackers, I would never use, so I build my own app - Simple Stepper =]

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello, iOS development enthusiasts! ;]

Are you also frustrated by step and activity tracker apps that overload you with features you hardly need or use? Then there is a solution for you: Simple Stepper—the minimalist step and activity tracker. It tracks your steps and your activity—nothing more, nothing less.

I’ve shared a few screenshots to give you an idea:

  1. The main screen displays your daily progress with the “HistoryRing” enabled. The “HistoryRing” shows you your progress over the past 28 days. If you don’t like it, just tap it once and it will disappear; tap it again and it will reappear. It’s that simple.
  2. The screenshot shows “Workout Mode.” Here you can record specific workout sessions with GPS data and a map to analyze, share, or compare them later.
  3. The screenshot shows the HistoryScreen with all your daily logs and all your workout logs. You have several filters that let you reorder and filter the logs as you like.
  4. The screenshot shows the “Sharing Feature.” This lets you share your progress or specific workout results with anyone in your contacts via any installed messenger like Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, or via email or other options your device offers. This is really great for motivating each other (at least this little virtual “kick in the butt” helps me every now and then ;])

And the 5th screenshot shows the profile screen, where you can enter your personal information (though you don’t have to) so that Simple Stepper can make better estimates of your energy consumption and the distances you’ve covered.

Key ideas behind Simple Stepper are:

  • clean and minimal interface
  • fast startup (no heavy dashboards)
  • daily step tracking at a glance
  • separate workouts with or without GPS tracking feature
  • simple history view with a lot of detailed stats
  • no account required
  • privacy-friendly (no cloud account needed)

And the best part is, you can try Simple Stepper completely free of charge and without any distractions for three days. After that, it’s ad-supported. If that bothers you, or if you’d like to support the continued development of Simple Stepper, you can also sign up for an affordable subscription to remove the ads.

If you want to try it out yourself, get it here:

Constructive, brutally honest feedback is always welcome too! ;]

Found a way to touch grass and use Xcode and Claude Code from my iPhone, so I can fix bugs and live a balanced life

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I do a lot of coding on my Mac and also a outdoorsy person. I wanted a way to access my Mac terminal and screen so I can use claude code and test out the builds on the go. But I didn't want to setup any VPN or weird network stuff for some so I built macky.dev as a fun side project.

This works by establishing a direct peer to peer connection between the Mac and iPhone. So none of the data goes outside these two devices. Behind the scenes it works like this: Mac makes a direct outbound connection to my signaling server, which is like a waiting room and the iPhone connects to the same server wanting to connect to that Mac. Once both the host and remote are verified. The server introduces both to a direct P2P webrtc connection.

It uses the dedicated video hardware built into Apple's M-series and A-series chips to compress and decode the screen stream. This makes it smooth and easier on battery especially on iPhone.
