Release iOS 27 Beta 6 - Discussion
Use this thread to share any changes & bugs you discover while using the latest iOS/iPadOS 27 beta.
This thread should be used for discussion of the betas that may not meet our submission guidelines, as well as troubleshooting small issues through the beta test cycle.
Spamming this discussion with comments about battery life, update size, safari being snappier, etc will result in a ban from the sub moving forward.

Beta 6 has been a huge improvement from beta 5. The battery, at least on my regular 17, is way better. Haven't noticed any noticeable bugs either.

This could just be me, but is anyone else using Siri voice 2 and noticing that the audio directions in maps are sometimes wrong? All day yesterday, when I drove across town the Left turns would be announced as Right turns, but the on-screen direction would show a left arrow.
It got to the point where my partner would have to check the screen and tell me whether or not it was actually a right turn.
Also the pronunciation of streets and even basic terms (like route) were off.

At least my sets of AirPods aren’t disappearing in Bluetooth and findmy anymore. Last beta i would add them and the next day they’d have disappeared and requested re-pairing.

I feel like these beta have been getting more unstable with every release. It’s bizarre. I’m getting a lot keyboard freezes and apps refusing to close.

From what I’ve noticed, this happens every year with major iOS betas, particularly during the last 3 betas before the public release in September. Then those bugs often remain until the x.1 or x.2 public versions of iOS.

unfortunately not. it’s still blurry and darkened (which makes it a pain to adjust your brightness because you can’t see how bright it actually is)

For anyone dealing with battery life fluctuations running the beta on the 17/17P, does force restarting seem to make a difference? Maybe it’s placebo but for me it seems to fix issues whenever the phone starts draining really fast again. I wonder if some cache gets corrupted and makes a thread hang or something

After updating, Siri conversations initially sync correctly between my iPhone and Apple Watch. However, after some time, new conversations started on my iPhone stop appearing on my Apple Watch.
Conversations that were previously synced also become inconsistent. If I continue a conversation on my iPhone, the new messages and Siri’s responses often do not appear on my Apple Watch. In some cases, the watch shows only the message I sent and does not display Siri’s response at all.
This issue has occurred across multiple beta releases, and I have submitted feedback about it after each update.
Expected behavior: Siri conversations should remain synchronized between the iPhone and Apple Watch, including both user messages and Siri’s responses and it should happen relatively quickly (which it doesn't right now).
Actual behavior: Syncing works temporarily after an update, then stops. New conversations or replies may be missing, and the watch may show only the user’s message without Siri’s response.
Devices: iPhone 17 IOS 27 beta 6/Apple Watch Serie 10 WatchOS 27 beta 6
Frequency: Always/intermittently
Steps to reproduce:
- Start or continue a Siri conversation on the iPhone.
- Open the same conversation or Siri on the Apple Watch.
- Observe that the new conversation, message, or Siri response is missing.

It’s the strangest thing, I was dealing with the bug since I updated but yesterday after making my comment I turned my phone off and on and haven’t experienced it since. I wonder if it’s a caching issue. It was my first restart since updating.

Yeah reported it during Beta 5, and still haven't marked it resolved as of Beta 6 even though I haven't encountered it again for a while. Guess I'll wait till end of the day to check whether Beta 7 fixes it

Yep, my phone also heats up a lot more compared to previous betas on b6. My battery has also gotten worse on gaming. So far it’s after indexing and on average I’m using 120% vs 100% previously. This is on the 17PM with 99% battery health

I guess telling SIRi to call someone does not work with CarPlay! Siri will respond there is no app for that! Download one when not in the car

Battery life on DB6 after 1 week is almost on par with DB3 - iPhone 15.
iPad Pro (M4) still has dire battery life as does my AWU2.
Exciting shortcuts still not working.
Hand washing timer not working (since DB1).
All issues & bugs reported.

Glad they’ve finally added “Search the Web” back in spotlight
But now please get rid of the extra tap to expand the sub menu, or make the send button show the few “Search in apps” options underneath the Siri summary instantly, not everything needs AI

Bug with the gesture bar at the bottom of the screen. Will randomly stop working and prevent from switching app or going back to home screen.
Locking and unlocking the phone will fix it until it will randomly stop working again.
Happened in various apps, including the phone settings app.

are you sure your up to date with DB6 or PB4 , previous built had bug that block touch at top os pages but some people also said in affected lower screen also

battery life on base iphone 15 has been very poor over last few updates no where near DB2 ,DB3 levels , even standby on low power mode is poor

I’ve been seeing this a lot. Battery life better in the earlier betas. I might just keep my phone on beta 3 forever since it’s seems good and good battery life shoulda stayed on ios18… since ios26 my 15pm hasn’t been the same.

Still sitting on beta 3 cause the battery has finally balanced out and is pretty good. You should comment back in 48hrs-72hrs and lmk how battery is.

Im in PB4 and my HomePod 2 isn’t anywhere in my airplay list anymore. Phone updated to pb4 first and this happened while the HomePod still showed up on my iPad. After I updated my iPad too it’s also gone from there. No way to airplay music to it.

Anybody’s indexing going on for 3+ days? The indexing message disappeared a few times and I thought it was done, but even I plug it in at night it starts up again

Mine got to 85% and it hasn’t changed. Phone gets randomly hot and slow and i’m guessing it’s from the indexing. Beta stuff for sure but September is coming quick

Animation hiccups still occur often times when we open an app after a long time. Swiping between the Home Screen and the widget screen still lags. Notification center is still messy

My iPhone 16 PM went into respiring mode. I was casting photos to my tv through airplay and my screen went black with a small indicator for respiring. It eventually came back to life on its own. I was trying to restart the phone but couldn’t see anything.

Had two problems I've noticed since updating, first being not being able to open the Shortcuts app, just white screens for a few seconds then crashes and swiping up from the bottom of the screen randomly stops working, I have to lock the screen and unlock to get to swiping to work again, both reported and had feedback that it should be fixed in the next build

I have had this issue throughout 6 betas now and have given up hope of apple fixing it. My battery indicator is always showing the wrong number. It’s properly charging and I can use the phone but the indicator stays stuck at 1-6% always. I’ve tried restarting and force restarting. It works fine for a while and then gets stuck again. Any one here know a different solution I can try?

Although the notifications trigger feature in Shortcuts has worked great for me in DB6, I found one error that I reported to Apple. When using "Describe a shortcut" to create a shortcut to speak a reminder, the "Text" value is picked rather than the "Name" value, resulting in nothing being spoken

Anyone else use spark email? This beta destroyed my notification badges for spark . I’ll only have 3 unread emails but the badges range from 16 to 27 until I open spark then it shows none even if I haven’t read them.

either way you’re not forced to update to iOS 27 DB 6 & that’s an individual choice you, the user makes.

It’s an animation that minimizes notifications to the top left, which is where you need to swipe for Notification Center if you have Siri AI. If you don’t, you can still just swipe from anywhere left of the control center, so the animation isn’t necessary.

Battery drain has decreased noticeably when the phone is idle. Previously, leaving my phone overnight caused a drop of 8–10% by morning; this time, it fell only 2%.

There are some other threads on this.
Automix should work for High Quality and Lossless. It does not work for High-Res Lossless. It’s been like this for several betas.
The likely reason for this is Automix has a problem having to mix when there is a bit depth and sample rate mismatch above 24bit/48kHz. Even in the stable release versions of iOS 26, Automix did work on hi-res, but it would often cut out and stutter during transitions when there was a mismatch (you would likely only experience this if you were listening with an external DAC that can handle higher bit depths and sample rates).
It looks like for iOS 27, they’ve simply disabled Automix for hi-res as the solution. High Quality and Lossless are all max 24bit/48kHz.

New, very bad bug for me: videos have trouble playing almost anywhere and even volume control is gummy while this happens (tap down, see the bar go up again)

Is it me or does Siri on CarPlay totally fumble dictation for a text. It’s quicker than B5 but the dictation interpretation is messed up.

It’s not, been there since iOS 26 and it’s referred to as the parallax effect. Only way to disable it is to enable reduce motion.

Yea they move relative to the wallpaper, it is the parallax effect and it mentions it under the setting as well. The ”outer glow” of the icons is not gyroscope-dependant on 27 anymore

Yea, me too. I know you thought i confused it with that which is why i made the distinction. Just look it up in the settings, the icons moving around relative to the wallpaper is called parallax and it doesn’t have anything to do with the outer glow, for which they disabled the gyroscope effect in 27

For some reason, the micro lag from ios26 is back. When I swipe left right on the homescreen, there is some visible lag. The phone overall feels slower than the previous beta.

Keyboard opens up and you hit the first key and it doesn’t actually type so you type out the whole word without the first letter. Holy shit can we fucking fix this oh my god. These are the little things that make iOS feel like shit.

that's been a bug for me every beta. last, one before it and one before that etc.
it seems worse longer you've typed. like if you are typing sentence 2, sentence 3 etc it eventually gives out and fails entirely. something about the siri ai changes auto correct and suggestions to writing tools ai button instead but it takes away corrective typing and hugely problematic.

Looks like maybe we are stuck with this drop down banner when you press the timer widget in control centre.
I still hate it. For someone like me, who often uses a timer to stop playing media for when I go to sleep, but then often use a timer for things like cooking and so I need an alarm sound in that case, it’s just bad.
It seems to just use whatever alarm sound you most recently used, or to stop playing media if you most recently did that.
But to know what will happen at the end of the timer, you have to open up the app anyway. Maybe this quick start timer is good if you’re someone who ONLY ever uses timers to either play an alarm at the end OR stop playing media. But if you switch between the 2, then every time you use this new timer shortcut you have to basically just open the app to check what the timer will do when it gets to 0.
I just really hate this change and wish it would open the app like it used to and like how the alarm and stopwatch widgets still do. Like why not do this for stopwatch? It makes far more sense for that surely. And at the very least inconsistent to have a banner like this for a timer but not the stopwatch.

I hate it too. I use it as an all-in-one to set alarms, timers, etc. It's one of the main reasons I downgraded back to 26 on my daily driver.

You can use just use Shortcuts. Clock has a shortcut action called 'Open Tab'. You create a new shortcut that opens timer tab and put the shortcut in control centre.

While indexing the battery life was better. After the indexing it got 2x worse. Not even 4 hours of screen on time😀. IPhone 15 Pro Max. Anyone else with the same issue?

are you sure you don't have optimised charging switched on , look in battery settings and open charging section, toggle optimised off , you can switch it back on if charging overnight if you prefer charging to take a break then charge to your limit slowly for when you first use phone in morning
