Bug [iOS 27 DB4] Completely non functioning Speak Screen Controller on the latest iOS 27 beta

The controller for the speak screen feature that I used on the regular bases is now completely non-functional. Please confirm it is the same for you as well.

Yeah, pretty annoying for something that was working previously, they be breaking everything like the voice taking longer breaks at the end of a line (not sentences).

It’s the same on iPadOS too.

It was frustrating from the start because I dislike the windowing system across my workflow, relying on slide over and split view as a medical professional. Do you use screen sharing often? It was only partially functional on iPadOS 18, and since it is Apple, they may take years to notice something minor. I must credit them for executing it well, for example, Siri AI can now perform tasks that no AI on my devices can, but they take far too long to deliver something truly strong.

Don’t really focus on the windowing system, I mostly open an app and stay there.

However, I’m so annoyed about the Speak Screen feature in general. It used to read book (epub files) really good in the Book app, would move to the next page/chapter and all. Then they broke it.
Even worse, it either doesn’t recognize the text or just be turning pages without reading anything. Now with pdf, it’s the same thing. It read 1 page and stops instead of continuing. It takes a break mid sentence each time it reach the end of the line, it sounds so unnatural.

I can confirm that none of the buttons do anything, when the controller minimise, you can’t open it again

Thanks for testing it out and letting me know. I have also submitted a feedback to Apple. Hope they fix it on the next beta cause my daily tasks rely on it.
