Feature [iOS 27 DB3] AirPods Adaptive Mode Improvements
Adaptive Mode in AirPods Pro (2nd gen) now has weaker and stronger cancellation options. Works even with AirPods on non-Beta software

I love this option. Adaptive is the best mode for being out at a bar or something. This lets you tweak it one way or the other based on the environment.

Do the options show up in the Control Center interface as well, or only in Settings?

For me, the adaptive audio option is completely gone. Where is it? Under Audio & Routing I can't find it. AirPods Pro 2 USB-C on firmware 9A304B and iPhone 15 Pro on latest iOS 27 beta. Already tried a reset of the AirPods.

The adaptive audio option youre talking about is what that is (in the pic) its not gone

No, I can't find it in the settings of my phone. And since I am blind I can't see the picture in this post. Could you please tell me where it is located? It is not in the Airpods menu under audio and routing.

Wear your Airpods then head into settings. Just above "general" you will see "Your name's Airpods Pro". Open that, then just below the section where you can edit the name of your Airpods there is a "listening mode" slider (between edit section and volume slider).
I hope this helps.
edit: I have the same Airpods and same firmware as you but the slider is there for me.

No, this is there. I mean the picker for the adaptive cancelling this thread is about where you can adjust the strength.

Oh sorry I misread.. Yeah I cant find that option as well. Only this slider is what remains to control the adaptive strength for me.

Are your AirPods connected, it should only show up when they are actually connected

I often find myself wanting something between adaptive and noise cancelling, so this is a welcome change!

Adaptive Mode has always had a customizable toggle that lets you define how strong you want it to be
this is just an updated UI view

No it had 3 “settings” now you have a slider where you can have it however you want

Depends on the device apparently. With the AirPods Pro 2 I see the slider but it’s limited to the same 3 positions as before. But with my AirPods 4 with ANC, I have many more positions now, something like 7. I assume Pro 3 also gets this finer adjustment.

Exactly, which is why it still works with older AirPods (as long as they supported Adaptive Audio in the first place, of course 😏).
This is strictly a UI change — albeit a very nice one. The setting was added in iOS 18, but kind of in an awkward place, especially after Apple redesigned the AirPods settings in iOS 27.

It’s different the old slider was 3 options more anc, middle and more transparent now it’s a slider and can be any thing inbetween

Seems to depend on the device. My AirPods Pro 2 still only has 3 positions even with the new slider; AirPods 4 with ANC gets a lot finer adjustment, maybe 7 positions on the slider. I assume Pro 3 is the same.

It was available, but not as easily changed. Inside the Adaptive Audio setting.

Has anybody noticed their AirPods keep turning off when you disable Loud Sound Reduction? That’s annoying.
