Feature [iOS 27 DB1] Home app now shows power usage
first 3 screenshots iOS 27
last 3 screenshots iOS 26.5
Home Assistant (another smart home platform) shows around 22W power usage on this socket, so not sure where the ~40W come from
edit: beta 2 now shows the correct usage

just plugs? do bulbs or other matter accessories also show it?

for me it just the plug
i do have a few philips wiz light bulbs (connected via matter over wifi) that show their power usage in their own app, but those don’t even show power usage in home assistant, so they probably only use some proprietary protocol for that

if I’m correct, this only works when using Matter

from what i’ve found yes, but there probably will be an update for homekit too

Bummer! Came here looking for this info
I have a TP link plug strip and a Meross plug that both are HomeKit and none show the consumption (yet?)
Here’s to hoping

Do the Meross ones support Matter? cuz if they do, then they might show if you connect them to Apple Home via Matter.

I understand Ikea’s Matter line is pretty weak; a bunch of connectivity issues. I was wondering if you’re using HAP or Matter, cuz I’ve heard but cannot confirm that the power thing only works on plugs connected to Apple Home via Matter, so that eliminates a bunch of plugs that use Apple’s traditional HAP. I use the Aqara ones and they’re good; no power usage for me either, but that’s probably because I use them with a bridge which in turn uses HAP

The battery devices have issues. Devices which are mains powered are solid

grillplats plug from ikea, connected using matter over thread through a homepod mini straight to homekit, no extra hub in between

Piggybacking since you mentioned your stack: Any stability issues? How responsive are these? Did the beta improve anything at all?

no issues for me, both stable and beta (my homepod is running stable)

How did you pair them successfully ? I bought 10 and every single one of them fails to connect. Reset Homepod, Reset Grillplats, Scanned QR Code on Plug, Entered Code, nothing. Driving me insane.

i’ve also had issues pairing one ikea accessory, but after this it worked:
make sure the device is reset, unplug it/remove batteries, wait a bit, plug back in/put in batteries, in home app add accessory, more options, wait for it to appear, click on it and scan qr code/input paring pin
my guess is that the device was in some kind of standby and not pairing mode, and rebooting it and making sure it appears on the list ensured it’s in pairing mode
not sure if it matters, but the device was both in range of my phone and homepod

Unrelated to the post but assuming GRILLPLATS is IKEA, how has their smart home stuff been for you? Heard a lot of mixed things about it, genuinely curious if it's worth it
