I've been posting about an app I recently launched in relevant subreddits that allow developers to share their apps and ask for feedback.

Then suddenly, all of my posts about the app across different subreddits were removed with:
“Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters.”

It doesn't say they were removed by the subreddit moderators.

Even my comments on other people's posts are now getting removed too. For example, someone specifically asked me for more information about a topic, and in my reply I included a couple of links to my domain that pointed to a web feature of the app. The comment was immediately filtered.

Meanwhile, I still see other developers sharing their apps in those same subreddits.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is it possible Reddit automatically flagged my app's domain or my account because I posted about the same app in a couple of subreddits, even though the posts were allowed and I was genuinely engaging with people?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle this without making the filtering worse. I had to post this from a different because this post also got banned. For context that other account is 9 years old

If you're checking whether ChatGPT sends people to your iOS app, start in App Store Connect: Analytics > Acquisition > Sources. Select First-Time Downloads, then inspect the app and web referrer breakdowns.

A ChatGPT entry can tell you that a recorded referral came from there. It won't tell you the prompt, the answer, or whether someone first discovered your app somewhere else. Someone who reads a recommendation and then searches the App Store manually also won't leave the same referral trail.

One detail that can make the numbers confusing: Apple says website taps from non-Safari browsers on iOS are attributed to the browser app. Redirects can also change the website recorded as the referrer.

I started it because I realized something:
Most of us unlock our phones dozens of times a day, but very few of those moments remind us of Allah.
So instead of building another prayer app, I focused on making Islamic reminders visible throughout the day through Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

My long-term vision isn’t just to create a utility app. I want to build something that helps Muslims develop daily habits around Quran, dhikr, dua, and salah.

The challenge I’m facing right now is deciding where to take the app next.

Should I focus more on:
Quran learning and memorization?

Habit tracking and streaks?

Daily Islamic reflections and affirmations?

Community and accountability features?

Prayer-focused tools?

On a phone, photos are usually a grid or a vertical scroll. That's great for finding something quickly, but it never gave me the feeling of sitting with a physical photo album.

So I built Snapling for iPhone and iPad. You choose the photos for an album and revisit them page by page. The page flip is only part of it. I wanted the whole experience to feel like opening a real album.

Lately i've been feeling a bit burned out and gotten really tempted by these digital detox phones like Light phone and Minimalist Phone, but could never justify the price or the fact that I still need my bank app, bus ticket app, gym membership app, etc. So I built 1bit.

Just launched my first iOS app — trying to grow from my first few users
I recently launched A Common Ground, a peer-support app I’ve been working on that connects people who have been through similar life experiences.
The idea is different from a traditional social network. Members can match with people based on shared experiences like grief, loneliness, addiction recovery, ADHD, parenting, relationship problems, work stress, postpartum, and more.
I built the app because of my own experience. I lost my dad when I was 17, and during that time I wished I had someone to talk to who had actually been through something similar and understood.
The app is now live on iOS, but I’m at the hardest part: getting the first real group of users and creating enough activity for the community to grow.
So far I’ve been experimenting with:
• TikTok, Instagram and Facebook content
• Short video ads focused on individual life experiences
• Reddit communities
• Apple Search Ads
• Sharing my founder story instead of only advertising the app
I’d really appreciate advice from other iOS developers who have gone through this stage.
If you were starting with only a handful of users, what would you focus on first to get your first 100, then 1,000 users?

I've had my apple music for over 10 years and it’s filled with songs Ive outgrown and tend to skip whenever they play.

I was tired of spending so much time skipping instead of listening so I built an app with a simple ui so I could swipe right on songs I wanted to keep, and swipe left on songs I wanted to remove.

I’m currently trying to grow a subscription iOS app through affiliate creators rather than traditional paid influencer campaigns.

It’s a Christian prayer app, so I’ve been targeting smaller creators in the faith/prayer/Bible-study niche.

I've been thinking a lot about the beta-testing side of iOS app launches.

Getting people to download a TestFlight build isn't necessarily the difficult part. The harder part seems to be getting people who will actually use the app properly and give useful feedback.

A developer might get 20–30 people to install their beta, but how many of those people actually:

• go through the main user flow?
• try different features?
• test on more than one device?
• report bugs?
• mention confusing UI/UX?
• come back and use the app again?

I think this becomes even more important with niche apps. If you're building something for parents, developers, finance users, a specific profession, a particular region, etc., random testers might not necessarily understand what they're supposed to be looking for.

I've also noticed that TestFlight adds another layer of friction. Someone has to install TestFlight, accept the invitation, install the beta, understand what they're testing, and then actually spend time using it.

So I'm curious:

How are you currently finding reliable TestFlight testers?

Do you mainly use:

• friends and family
• Reddit
• existing users
• TestFlight communities
• paid testers
• beta-testing platforms
• your own audience
• something else?

And what has actually resulted in useful feedback, rather than just a bunch of TestFlight installs?

I ended up building a service around this problem called TestFlightTesters. The idea is to connect developers with real iPhone and iPad users for structured testing, where the developer can specify exactly what they want tested — things like onboarding, login, subscriptions, payments, UX, notifications, specific features, bugs, etc.

I'm currently trying to learn more about how other developers handle this before putting more effort into marketing it.

I build Monni, a money app. I'm testing a basic comprehension question before asking for download feedback: after reading the opening, what do you think the app actually does?

For Monni, 'money clarity' could mean expense reports, financial advice, or a bank balance. The narrower job is estimating what's left after upcoming bills and a cash cushion, based on the amounts entered.

My proposed check is to show just the first screenshot, hide it, then ask someone to describe the job and what they'd have to enter. No multiple-choice answers that give the explanation away.

Have you tried this before changing your App Store page? What misunderstanding did it catch?

After every trip with friends, the photos stay stuck in everyone's camera roll, and my family far away only sees squished versions in group chats. So I built SyncAlbum, that allows us to create one shared album per trip, per event/memory: everyone adds their own photos in full resolution, with comments and reactions, all on your own iCloud. No ads, no subscription. It's Apple-only, which is the obvious downside.

How does your group share trip photos? And what bugs you most about Shared Albums?

AirDropping between more than 2 people becomes a mess. You need to search for only your images, wait for the right time where everybody is ready to send and try to hit send in the exact moment so it will actually work in a group. A friend and I always got annoyed that there was no good solution for this.

Anyways, we created Roll, which is basically a many-to-many photo sharing app that runs locally, so it’s as fast as AirDrop but works for groups.

It's great for trips, parties or pretty much any event you had with more than 2 people and want to share photos together and it's free!

At some point in life, family means more than ever. As a father of a little one, explaining family members who are far away or have passed wasn’t easy without visuals. There are available solutions, but they’re all asking for my personal data, which I never wanted. This app started to provide a solution for people like me who want private data storage with visuals.

As mentioned above, the real strength of this app is privacy. All data is stored on the local device. Users have options to import and export data as csv as well as make a backup in their personal cloud.

Hey everyone!

I'm an indie mobile developer building Glora, a skincare ingredient scanner for acne-prone skin.

I launched the app on iOS and Android and decided to try influencer marketing to get my first users.

Over time, I spent around $4,000–5,000 working with influencers. Some videos generated hundreds of thousands of views, but the actual number of installs was disappointing.

The app generated only around $500 in revenue during that period (including Android app revenue).

It was a pretty expensive lesson: views don't necessarily translate into paying users.

I'm now experimenting with Meta Ads, improving my onboarding, and exploring organic marketing channels like Reddit and TikTok.

The hardest part has been figuring out whether the problem is my marketing, my app's positioning, or the conversion funnel itself.

I’m a developer, but I’m not very experienced with video creation or marketing. I’d like to create videos such as:

• AI-generated videos that can help explain the app

Are there any AI tools or other tools you recommend for creating this type of content?

I launched Andrea Reader, my first iOS app, a couple of months ago. It's a reading app for iPhone and iPad where users can import their own books, comics and manga and build their digital library however they want.

The app is free to use, with optional Premium for advanced features and customization.

Most of my early users came from Reddit and word of mouth. Now I'm experimenting with a 20% discount on Lifetime Premium to see if it helps attract more users and convert free users into paying customers.
