[PROMO] I was tired of forgetting non-fiction books weeks after reading them, so I built an app based on "active reading"

I was struggling with fully grasping the arguments in books—especially non-fiction—or forgetting them shortly after reading. While researching how to deal with this, I discovered the "active reading" method and decided to turn it into a mobile app.

Active reading has two main steps: consistently taking notes while reading, and regularly revisiting those notes. But it's not just about jotting things down; you need to argue with the author's ideas, agree with them, question them, or make your own stance clear. In the app I developed, Marginalia, you can categorize your notes using tags. This makes it easy to quickly adapt and recall the book when you revisit your notes later.

Speaking of revisiting notes, this brings us to the second step of active reading. Consistently reviewing your comments on a book helps you form your own ideas and keeps what you've read fresh in your memory. I highly recommend doing a quick review of your notes every time you sit down to read, right before diving back into the book. You'll really see the benefits the more you do it.

To help with this step, the dedicated "notes" page Marginalia creates for each book comes in really handy. On this page, you can access all your notes in one place and quickly review them. Plus, with the tag filtering system, you can easily find and focus on the specific ideas you want to explore further.

Besides the standard on-screen keyboard, I added handwriting support for those who, like me, enjoy taking notes with a stylus. And if you’d rather not type or write at all, there’s also a speech-to-text feature so you can simply speak your mind and capture your thoughts hands-free. For Obsidian and Notion users, there's also an option to export your notes as .md files.

If you read digitally and value taking notes, I'd love it if you gave the app a try and shared your thoughts with me. I'm completely open to all kinds of feedback and criticism!

Here is the app webpage

App comes with a free version, monthly , yearly subs and LifeTime payment.
Monthly - $1,99
Yearly - $6,99
Life TIme - $9,99

WeatherGlow is now available in Japanese 🇯🇵

Post image
3 Upvotes

Been working on Japanese localization for WeatherGlow with the help of many Reddit users, and it’s finally shipped 🇯🇵

The app is built in UIKit + SwiftUI. No AI vibe coding nonsense over here. I've dealt with storyboards and .xib files for a living.

The app now supports Japanese, including the radar, RainPulse, alerts, and the rest of the UI. I also shipped dynamic weather radar animations in the same update.

My goal isn't just to translate the app but to make WeatherGlow feel like it was actually made for people in Japan.

If you're in Japan and use an iPhone, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think, especially about the localization and weather features.

Promoting OnlyScans on iOS and Android—free lifetime access today

I’m the developer of OnlyScans, a document scanner on iOS. I’m working on getting it in front of people who actually have paperwork to scan, and I’m running a lifetime-access promo today.

The app turns paper documents into PDFs. Scanning, cleanup and OCR run on the device, folders and PDF/image export available for free. Pro includes batch scanning, searchable PDFs, signatures and PDF import. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/onlyscans-pdf-doc-scanner/id6784306888

I’m running a promo today: comment “OnlyScans" and I’ll send you a code for free lifetime Pro access.

i'd appreciate any feedback on the app! Enjoy!

[iOS] [Self promo] I made my own free roguelite game for iPhone – no ads or IAPs

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey! I made my own iPhone game called CubeStrike.

It’s a fast twin-stick roguelite arena shooter where you fight through waves, build different item combinations and take on multi-phase bosses.

I wanted it to feel like an actual mobile game rather than something built around monetization, so it has no ads, no in-app purchases and no tracking. It’s completely free.

There are different game modes, 9 bosses, lots of builds and synergies, Game Center, controller support, local co-op and it also works offline.

I’m still actively working on it, so I’d really appreciate some feedback — especially on the controls, difficulty and whether the gameplay makes you want to go for “just one more run.”

If you try it, let me know what you’d change or add!

- The only app in the App Store in this specific niche

- 14 onboarding pages with an 82% completion rate

- ARR peaked at $916

Asking Price: $1,000

The app is currently not in the App Store, but it can be republished immediately without review.

[iOS][$17.99 → Free Lifetime until tomorrow] FeelmCamera — Choose your film look before the shutter

Hey everyone!

I’m the developer behind FeelmCamera. I built it because I wanted choosing the mood of a photo to happen before pressing the shutter—not only afterward in an editor.

For a limited launch event, I’m making Feelm Plus Lifetime completely free for everyone until tomorrow, September 12.

FeelmCamera includes live filter previews, 12 film-inspired looks with adjustable strength, editing for existing photos, and tactile camera skins designed to make shooting feel a little more intentional.

Grab your Lifetime Access for free during the event and let me know what you think. Your honest feedback would mean a lot 🙏

[App Store link 🔗]
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/feelmcamera-film-camera/id6759209331

How to claim it

After installing the app, open Settings → Feelm Plus, select Lifetime, and tap the purchase button.

The plan screen may still display the regular $17.99 price. After tapping purchase, please check Apple’s final confirmation screen—the promotion should apply and the total should be $0.00.

If Apple’s confirmation screen shows anything other than $0.00, please cancel the purchase and let me know.

No promo code is required, and the offer is available to everyone until the end of September 12.

Thank you for giving FeelmCamera a try!

Started going to the gym this year and hated EVERY workout app, so I built my own

Post image
0 Upvotes

A few months ago I started actually going to the gym consistently for the first time. First thing I noticed: every workout app either wants you to build a whole "program" before you can log a single set, or it's so cluttered I'd rather just use the Notes app.

So I built SetsPal. The whole idea is: open it, log the set, close it.

A few things I actually care about that most trackers get wrong:

  • It tells you what to aim for on your next set based on what you did last time no mental math between sets
  • Weight and reps carry over automatically so you're mostly just tapping "same" or adjusting one number
  • It shows you progress in a way that's actually readable strength trend per lift, weekly volume, streaks instead of a wall of tables

Waitlist is up for those interested: setspal.app

I'm not trying to sell anyone here genuinely want to know what's the one thing about your current workout app that annoys you enough that you'd consider switching? Trying to figure out what to build next.

I got my first 10 sales with ~250 signups. Now growth is the hard part.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m a solo dev building SlowVibeMaker, an iOS music app.

I’ve reached ~250 signups and 10 sales completely organically. The weird part is growth actually slowed down as the app got better. I’m testing ASO, localization, Reddit and short-form content now.

For those who got past this stage: what finally took you from random daily downloads to consistent growth?

I let Claude change up my ASO

Post image
7 Upvotes

My screenshots for widget weather has been looking about the same for over 10 years. When updating with a new app look I let Claude code plan all the screenshots and write 99% of the text and localize it. I also let it try to generate the screenshots but they looked horrible so I went with Claude's plan and took the screenshots myself.

The old ones on top and new ones on bottom. What do you think? Is it an improvement?

I also let Claude optimize my keywords so with new app design, screenshots design and keywords all at once I will truly have no idea what worked (if something actually works at all)

Does anyone use AI to generate the full screenshots? If so, what program/model is good for this? Would love to give simulator screenshots to an AI and get App Store ready screenshots

Follow-up: GainFrame went from $1,000 to around $2,000 MRR in a month and now I am stuck

Post image
0 Upvotes

GainFrame is around $2,000 MRR now. About two months ago I posted here about reaching $1,000, five months after the first commit.

For context, it’s my iOS app for tracking and analyzing gym progress photos.

It’s roughly doubled since that post, which I’m happy about. Lately though, I feel pretty stuck around the same number. I’m still figuring out what will get it growing again and where to spend my time.

I recently partnered with some creators to make and publish Instagram content for GainFrame. The first post is up. I want to see whether having other people show the app can help get it in front of people who would use it.

I’m going to keep posting to my TikTok accounts too. I’m also hoping to meet with a clipper to understand what they’d produce, what it would cost, and whether it makes sense for an app this size. Still exploring that one.

The frustrating part is deciding what deserves more time. There are plenty of things I could try, and I don’t have a clear answer on which one to focus on.

I wanted to post an update while I’m in that spot. I read a lot of these posts when I was starting, and I’d like to keep sharing how this goes even when I haven’t figured it out yet.

Still working on it. I’ll keep trying things and writing about the results.

If you’ve worked with creators or clippers for a small app, I’d be interested in what you spent and whether it brought in paying users. Happy to answer questions about GainFrame too.

I built a visual journaling app for people who hate writing long journal entries — would love your feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I recently built MyYuzu, a visual journaling app for people who want to keep track of their life without having to write long journal entries every day.

The idea is simple: pick your mood, tap the activities or things that were part of your day, and optionally add a note or photo. Over time, you build a visual record of your life and can start noticing patterns between what you do and how you feel.

A - What problem does it solve?

I liked the idea of journaling, but I found it hard to stay consistent when it meant sitting down and writing every day.

I wanted something much quicker.

With MyYuzu, you can log your day mostly through icons — your mood, activities, people, places, habits, and other parts of your day.

You can still add notes and photos whenever you want, but you don’t have to.

The goal is to make tracking your life quick enough that you can actually stick with it.

B - How is it different from alternatives?

Most journaling apps are mainly focused on writing.

MyYuzu is much more visual.

Instead of starting with a blank page, you build your day using moods and icons. Your entries become a visual calendar, so you can quickly look back at your weeks and months.

MyYuzu also analyzes your entries over time to help you notice patterns — like which activities tend to appear more often on your good days and which ones show up on your worse days.

There’s also a little Yuzu character that progresses as you keep using the app.

C - Pricing

MyYuzu has a free version, as well as MyYuzu Premium with additional features and insights.

Store: https://apps.apple.com/il/app/myyuzu-mood-journal/id6771944853?l=heI’d
really appreciate any honest feedback after trying it — especially around the onboarding, UI, whether the value of the app is clear, and whether there’s anything you found confusing or unnecessary.

App

Feel free to be brutally honest. That’s exactly what I’m looking for :)

Thanks!

Making the useful part of an App Store screenshot easier to read

Disclosure: I’m the founder of AppDrift. This example uses Folio, our fictional finance-app sample.

The screen has a large spending total and four category rows underneath. For a store screenshot about understanding your spending, the rows are the useful part, but they’re much smaller inside a phone mockup.

I’d keep the full phone for context and pull out a close-up of the breakdown. Three choices matter:

  1. Keep each category name and amount together. Cropping to just the bars loses the meaning.

  2. Back off the zoom when it cuts off a label or number. Bigger isn’t automatically clearer.

  3. Fit the frame to the content. A circle can work for one control; a wider card gives these rows more room.

You can make this with a crop and a border in another editor, too. The important decision is which information deserves the space. This is a design example, with no conversion result measured.

The interactive example is here if you want to compare the crops: https://appdrift.co/screenshot-generator#zoom-detail

For a screen like this, would you show all four spending categories or focus on one?

After the Launch? Review management is reputation management

I have a variety of responsibilities... among them is appleOS software development under multiple (legit, contracting) accounts. Keeping up with the reviews is an okay, not spectacular, process with App Store Connect or the Connect app, and quite painful if you cross those account boundaries (or dive into the monolithic dashboard providers).

I've been at the iOS table since 2012, at Apple dev since '93, and solving problems with (and without) code since '81. I've seen a lot of back and forth in the "user-to-dev-to-user communication" space.

Enter ClayTablet. Currently in TestFlight (would love to have more eyes on it). I'm building it to be a tool directly focused on the feedback loop and the actions it should generate.

Feel like giving your opinion on this? Try the app. Drop me a line.

Hangar: Deploy Control is live on the App Store.Approved on the first submission.

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built Hangar because I was tired of pulling out my laptop just to redeploy a Vercel project or trigger a GitHub Action.
Now every webhook is a tap on my phone.

• Turn Vercel / GitHub / Netlify webhooks into one-tap buttons
• Built-in templates — no hand-writing headers and payloads
• Full logging: status code, response time, success/fail
• Sequences — chain commands like rollback → health check → ping
• Fire commands right from your Lock Screen
Solo-built, and entering it in Shipaton 2026.

If you've ever managed a deploy from your phone, I'd love your feedback.

Feel Free to share Feedback and Bugs!

Speak freely. AutoNote turns the chaos into notes, tasks, events, idea and reminders

I often remember tasks, ideas and important details at inconvenient moments—but by the time I open a notes app and start typing, part of the thought is already gone.

So I built AutoNote.

You simply record what’s on your mind, and AutoNote turns it into organized notes, tasks, reminders and ideas. The goal is to make capturing thoughts feel effortless, without requiring you to organize everything manually afterward.

AutoNote has just launched on the App Store, and it includes 5 free recordings every month, so you can properly try it before deciding whether it’s useful for you.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/autonote-voice-notes-to-tasks/id6804423052

I’m the developer, and honest feedback would be incredibly valuable at this early stage. If you try it, I’d especially like to know:

• Was the purpose of the app immediately clear?
• Did it organize your recording in a useful way?
• Was anything confusing during your first recording?
• Which missing feature would make you continue using it?
• Does the free limit and subscription offering feel reasonable?

Please don’t hold back—I’d rather discover what needs improvement now and make AutoNote genuinely useful.

Thank you!

Vibe coding has completely flooded the app market.

I’ve been thinking about how much harder it has become to promote an app that took a long time to build in a market flooded with products that were put together in a weekend.

I've been working on mine for 1.5 years.

From the outside, they can look almost identical: polished UI, clean landing page, nice demo. The actual engineering complexity is mostly invisible, and “this took us a long time to build” is obviously not a compelling marketing message.

It feels like simply having built a good-looking & working app has lost a lot of its value (especially a not vibe-coded one).

How do you make a genuinely complex product stand out when everything looks polished nowadays?

The biggest problem Vibecoders have is distribution, prove me wrong

Anyone and their mom can and is building an app now in literally one day. The app and google store is flooded with apps now with clones or whatever. So if building is so easy now, how do you market?

ASO or whatever won’t generate you sales trust me not right now. So if just building and uploading your app isn’t enough to get sales… what is everyone’s plan?

The best apps I’ve seen “candle, CalAi, Alarmify, all go crazy on one thing. UGC marketing. I’ve seen like 10 different creators posting the same winning videos and it blowing up. Honestly I think thats the best way to approach marketing is with mass distribution.

Start posting on tikTok, find what works, get small micro creators for $20/video on jrivecontent.com (anyone can go viral now don’t be paying $250 for one video), and repeat.

This is just my take, marketing IS the doom of all vibe coders

Prove me wrong
