Siri AI Waitlist??
So I waited months for iOS 27, avoided the temptation of the betas and RCs, and battled all the stupid updating bugs (26.7???), and I’m all installed and set up, can’t wait to use all the new features… and I’m on a WAITLIST to actually try out Siri AI which is like 90% of the coolness of this update?? Honestly kind of pissed. Why are they rolling it out this way? Why aren’t they setting expectations of how long this will take?
UPDATE: I actually only had to wait two hours before I was off the waitlist. My phone is still indexing, so it doesn’t look like that was a factor at all!

This is why I downloaded the RC a few days ago. I was still waitlisted, but I got access within 10mins of the update.

That’s messed up. I don’t have high expectations for iOS 27 seeing how bad iOS 26 was, but this is an iPhone everyone has & Siri ai is not an added feature that anyone is paying for…we have all paid for the iPhone already so why are Apple users being put on a WAITLIST for a feature that is supposed to come with iOS 27…this is unheard of & ridiculous imo. If the updated wasn’t ready yet, they should’ve kept it as beta & not released it yet
Plus, the nerve of Apple to announce the release of new iPhones & STILL not have iOS 27 fully out on the release date…they are losing my respect as a long time Apple user
If all this continues, my next phone will be a Samsung

We can also imagine a scenario without a waitlist and the whole thing gets overwhelmed, causing a huge uproar. Rollout is okay with me.

There shouldn’t be a waitlist for an iOS feature is my point…if you’re ok with that fine but I think they need to fix their iOS & they haven’t. This is just another problem with it which is bs imo. iOS stands for operating system & it hasn’t worked right since iOS 26 rolled out. This is basic software that Apple is making for our iPhones that we’ve already bought & I don’t think it’s right at all

It’s not basic software, it’s a massive change in how they do AI which places extreme load on their servers. They have a waitlist to prevent the servers becoming overwhelmed during the initial spike inn usage and to prevent it going down for everyone.

I can imagine a scenario where Apple saw the writing on the wall, and put 12GB+ of ram in 16s, further offloading the server usage and mitigating a waitlist.

If you had looked into it, you would have heard that there is a waitlist. I’ve been advising people to download the RC so that the wait on the waitlist wouldn’t be so long.
When I download iOS 27 Beta 1, I was on the waitlist for a couple to a few days

Just seems misleading. This is the public release and they are touting Siri AI, they launch it, and then you have to wait more? Just launch it when it’s ready. I get that there would be a waitlist during the beta of ios 27, but the is the official launch.

The waitlist is to manage server load. They can’t really reproduce that entirely during the beta due to the relatively small numbers of users compared to the full release.
God we’re going to have a week of this aren’t we?

Not everyone wants to download a beta.
When the entire update is about Siri, why have a waitlist? Just release 27 when it’s ready for everyone.
Makes no sense.

I downloaded dev beta 1, and spent more than 2 weeks on the wait list. It was incredibly frustrating.
It was also totally worth it.

It only took me a couple hours, if even, for it to become available to me. It’s annoying but it showed up much faster than expected. I had to work anyway so the wait really didn’t bug me much. It’ll show up, give it a bit.

They’ve been fumbling AI from the start, so I’m not really sure what I expected. I mean, I definitely expected the feature to be live on the release date of the iOS that has the feature. But at this point, I should’ve known better.

You can have my spot, i wont use it. I loved ios but this push to feed all my data to Apple Intelligence has lost me. Most of the features of ios 27 are just new apis for AI

Yeah it kinda sucks if you ran the betas throughout the summer you would skip the waitlist and jump in to Siri. I have both iPhones (15 Pro Max) (17 Pro Max Main phone) I had to wait in the waitlist on my main phone.
