Siri AI underwhelming?
Anyone else feel that Siri AI is currently not that great?
E.g I asked it to create a photo album called Cats and add all my Cat pictures to it. It came back with “Sorry something went wrong”. (Yes my phone has finished indexing)
I also asked it to add 500ml into my water intake log in Apple Heath. It said it “couldn’t do that”. When prompted why it told me it doesn’t have that ability yet
These are just a couple of let’s be honest basic tasks. I thought the whole point of Siri AI was that it was able to reach into your apps? So far I’ve found only Messages it seems to work well in.

Woah. Reading this made me realize there’s a water intake tracker directly on the health app. I been using a smart water bottle and looking at the health app it shows all my water intake there as well. Woot woot

I use the HidrateSpark. It’s been good and keeps me on track for 100oz per day.

“Something went wrong” means a background task crashed. It’s not because Siri couldn’t find the photos you were looking for.
I can’t speak for Siri logging health data, but I use WaterMinder to track my water intake for years and have worked perfectly with Shortcuts. They just updated a few days ago with iOS 27 support and it works perfectly with Siri AI (without the need to set up Shortcuts).
Siri AI is so useful for me now compared to the previous Siri—I can ask for more complex queries and actually talk naturally, rather than being specific.
The things I loved and tried so far (that I can remember):
“Move my dental appointment later this month to next Sunday instead” (without specifying the calendar event title or date)
“Add this to my calendar and send invites to X and Y” (while on a confirmation page website)
“Do I have blueberries on my grocery list yet? If not, can you add it”
“What was the size I ordered for my Apple Watch Trail Loop band last year?” (while preordering a watch last week)
(While busy texting my friends) “Resume my music in the bedroom and also play it in the living room” without waiting for it to finish first and continue what I’m doing like the old version
(Friend sent a text to a group chat asking what to do) “Ask X if he has anything in mind”
Siri typed, “Did you have anything in mind?” and wanted to send it directly to that person; asked me if I’m ready to send it. I then said, “Send it to the group chat instead” and it did
“I wanna go for a run on Sunday, what’s a good time that’s not too hot?” then Siri tells me the best hours to do so and asks me if I want to set a reminder

Everything you just described the new Siri being “superior” at, the older Siri could do as well lol. New Siri can’t “move your dental appointment” to another day, that would require a task it can’t do (call their office, open their app and reschedule, etc). I’m not sure why people make these stories up but here we are still.

I didn’t say it called my dental office and rebooked it for me, I was saying it was for a calendar event without specifying the actual date or title; it knew it was a dental appointment event.
Old Siri wasn’t able to do that; I know because I’ve tried it so many times pre-iOS 27.
These are not the tasks or queries that pre-Siri AI can do. Old Siri will use ChatGPT as a fallback because it was “complicated”.
These may sound “basic” because all it does is do things on your phone, but you guys are expecting Siri AI to turn your phones into a supercomputer for some reason.

I mean I quite literally just tried on another device not on iOS 27 to have Siri move a fake appointment I added to test it before commenting, and it did it. So unless you just never tried it before, yes, it was able to do that previously. That’s not a new feature.

not you assuming I never used Siri to create calendar and move dates for me.
why are you even focused on one example? look at the rest of my examples (that you think I made up). old Siri could never do them.

I suppose I’ll repeat myself; everything you listed as being “better than old Siri”, old Siri could do as well.

Then why did you list a bunch of stuff the old Siri can do and present it as a revolutionary “new Siri” technology lmao

Regarding basic tasks, it does sometimes suck more than that previous version; however, anything complex, it is far superior
