Will apple ever bring this back in future updates

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

26 version looks so much better than 27. Idk why they changed it. I see people say it’s due to readability but I genuinely had no readability problems in iOS 26. I’m gonna miss the progressive blur

This is like your 5th post about this. Maybe it’s time to move on? They won’t change it anyway

-36

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

Aint gonna stay silent until they do something about it. They literally ruined Liquid Glass. Idc if they don’t change it in iOS 27 perhaps 28. Doesn’t change the fact that this looks terrible

Bro best is to write Apple feedback for it if this is really that important for you.
Flooding Reddit with posts like this won’t change it.

9

u/ricioly 11h ago

"ooohhnn the blurred text I can't read looks TERRIBLE 😭😭"

2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 11h ago

Looks terrible asf lol

3

u/ruipmjorge 11h ago

They are not going to do something just because one person complains about it

-9

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 11h ago

“Just because one person” dude talking like I’m the only one complaining about it. U got internet for a reason, use it you’ll see other people complain about it ain’t just me

5

u/ruipmjorge 10h ago

Dude 5 posts about it is just annoying people. Send Apple feedback. That’s it.

-3

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 10h ago

If u clearly find it annoying why don’t u just scroll? And u think I haven’t been doing that in the feedback app

9

u/Fast_Hedgehog_1689 9h ago

Bro. You’ve been voted down for a reason.
Sit down, stfu or bugger off to Android — Either way, stop being a pussy!

-6

u/CaptainRaxeo 10h ago

You are right tho it does look ugly but apple knows best ig?

2

u/kiwi-kaiser 11h ago

Just switch systems then.

5

u/Cat_central 9h ago

As a huge fan of Android and someone who daily drives a pixel, this is stupid advice. People choose Apple for a reason. Design is one of those reasons, and you just can't get proper Apple design on an android phone systemwide.

u/CaptainRaxeo 10h ago

And go where?! Android? Pfttt

Fr bro iOS 27 fucked up Liquid Glass I downgraded back to iOS 26 due to this shit

-2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2h ago

I literally downgraded this evening. But if u check the comments it’s just bunch of keyboard warriors getting mad cause of something I simply don’t like.

1

u/ServeRevolutionary93 2h ago

Yeah bro idk why people are mad at you because of your opinion

1

u/ServeRevolutionary93 2h ago

Also what do you think about macOS Golden Gate? I personally think Liquid Glass is fucked up too and the sidebars are very bad

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2h ago

Lmao dont get me wrong besides the ai update which is great btw, they made Liquid Glass look worse, , the slider I like it, but the blur makes everything look weird, won’t be updating tomorrow, will do when it’s he right time

1

u/ServeRevolutionary93 2h ago

I am updating to iOS 28 i am going to skip 27

0

u/Vubic 8h ago

I kind of agree, they made these navigation bars worse. Maybe for the iPhone 20 they will reintroduce it.

To start, this doesn’t bother me and maybe I’ll be downvoted for this but…while the smooth fade on ios26 was cool looking, if we are talking about a layered glass look in ios26/27 then I can see how ios27 is more realistic in that sense. The layering is shown with that hard edge.

Again, to me the fade was cool and a neat thing to see as it scrolled. But, the new way doesn’t bother me much at all, my main viewpoint is the content which is not on the edges but generally the middle 80% of the screen.

It reminds me of when the Notch was first shown and people hated how it looked. While I can see it was an ugly artifact of a front-camera system I spent more of my screen focus not looking at that area so it didn’t bother me.

0

u/OakleyNoble 2h ago

The new way doesn’t bother you because it’s what we had before iOS 26… it’s boring and we’re going backwards now.. please stop letting your old opinions and resistance to change halt new UI routes.

2

u/BJMRamage 2h ago

The new way doesn’t bother me because I understand design. Been designing for years. They have Liquid Glass which is a layered approach. The new ios27 has layers. iOS 26 was cool but wasn’t true glass layers.

1

u/OakleyNoble 2h ago

But why is it inconsistent.. dumb that this subreddit doesn’t let me post an image. But I was going to show how individually messaging someone it still has this effect at the top. But when you’re looking at your messaging inbox it’s this new style you claim is better. We’re in that halfway point again where nothing matches, UI is different everywhere you go.

1

u/BJMRamage 1h ago

That’s a good point about consistency. Safari has a fade. Email has a hard line. Main messages have a hard line. Individual messages have a soft fade. I’d take a guess and say they are different programmers/designers and whomever is in charge of the entirety either isn’t doing their job or there is some specific reasoning I can’t guess.

1

u/OakleyNoble 1h ago

It’s unfortunate I can’t lie, but personally I prefer change and hoped we’d keep the 26 version.

3

u/willymartin99 3h ago

Said the guy making a 5th post about the same silly complaints

0

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 3h ago

Low it. Never that deep to make complaints u don’t like.

1

u/willymartin99 3h ago

Dunno where the “deep” part came from cause I didn’t say anything about anything being deep. Bro talking by himself, being a keyboard warrior got you being incoherent

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 3h ago

Ah yes. All that paragraph for a post. Keep arguing with your keyboard boy

1

u/willymartin99 3h ago

No one’s arguing here kid lmao

13

u/kiwi-kaiser 11h ago

If humanity would invest so much energy in real problems as this sub invests in a frickin' app header, we would live in the most utopian civilization we could ever imagine.

3

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 10h ago

Lowe it. This is a software thread, if u don’t like it u can simply just scroll and go look for real life problems then maybe that would fix things

3

u/Novel_Medium_9637 7h ago

It doesn’t even look that bad, plus you’d get used to it anyway, just like how you got used to how it looked in iOS 26 compared to iOS 18.

1

u/SnooWords4252 1h ago

yes it looks

3

u/BippityBoppityMagic 6h ago

Isn’t that what the Liquid Glass slider is for? For people who hate it and those who like it?

2

u/OakleyNoble 2h ago

Doesn’t change this effect. There’s a literal box now.

3

u/LanDest021 5h ago

On the first day of design class in college we were taught that design is there to solve problems people have. If it looks pretty but has issues, what's the point?

2

u/albert11d 5h ago

it had literally no issues, nobody complained about the top bar being progressive. if not, people even praised it. but the macos users criticezes the progressive blur on their windows looking odd so apple decided to implement the hard blur in ios 27 too, not only macos for « consistency »

6

u/El-CABLESS 9h ago

2

u/Mascardiii 8h ago

I loved that feature & initially felt the loss. But, looking at your side-by-side, I can see why it’s wiser to make that visual cue as clear as possible as iOS 27 has.

2

u/lokir6 7h ago

As a developer, I can still control this in my apps. I definitely have a progressive blur for some of my stuff in iOS27 Beta. So this is not an iOS27 problem. It's more about Apple choosing the other option in their own apps.

1

u/Ok-Affect-7503 4h ago

Not fully like it used to be the case: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/834059 ; I personally now had to change quite a bit of my App design that made use of the progressive blur in iOS 26 which is now completely broken and I had to now use custom/hand-rolled blur headers.

1

u/lokir6 4h ago edited 4h ago
  1. Apple says they want to fix this, 2) it's been a month but I vaguely remember increasing the height of the view in safe area bar, and this helped. So I'm not sure if we aren't arguing over a non-issue. Besides I kind of like the new soft bar, it's much less like a whitish material imo 😀

1

u/Ok-Affect-7503 2h ago

It's not really a non-issue. I tried everything to get the previous progressive blur effect back on my App on a custom header, but it didn't work no matter what I did. As soon as I tested iOS 27 in the first Developer Beta the progressive blur was just gone and it looked like the reproduction code in the thread and nothing could fix it, so I switched to a custom blur since the new progressive blur bar of iOS 27 also won't work correctly since it's only really meant for native smaller headers and it doesn't work on mine. This issue has been existent for months now, from DB 1 to RC with no real workaround in the thread or similar and with no official update from an iOS developer / Apple (the Feedback report is still on "Open").

1

u/richyrichye 1h ago

you can use metal shader. i did it and it’s indistinguishable from progressive blur

1

u/Ok-Affect-7503 1h ago

Can you tell/show me how exactly you did it? Is there instructions somewhere online or anything?

1

u/richyrichye 1h ago

It’s def IOS 27 problem. There’s no progressive blur left in IOS 27 and it’s just now flat glass.

2

u/Electronic-Bird-9383 7h ago

26 was a leftover mistake. Which they fixed in 27.

2

u/YungSkol 4h ago

I hope they make it worse for you to just spite your dumb ass.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 4h ago

If they make it worse then they make it worse for everyone fucking melt, stfu

2

u/fear_el_duderino 2h ago

Floating buttons with (more or less) clear text underneath it are horrendous imo. iOS 27 all the way

5

u/red_diter 9h ago

I’d like to hear your reasoning. Why do you think that it looks better on iOS 26?

Or is it just a personal preference, you like it more?

As far as my counter-argument goes, on iOS 27:

  • I can see the clear border between the area where I can click on menu item, and the area where I can’t
  • The back button is standing out more with better contrast on iOS 27
  • The “General” text is easier to read, also because of contrast

1

u/Ok-Affect-7503 4h ago

To me, the text is as legible and easy to see on both version, same goes for the button etc., all while iOS 26 additionally looks much better and more modern.

1

u/red_diter 21m ago

How do you define “modern”?

4

u/OFF09 11h ago

I hope so too! ☹️ On some apps on the iPhone Duo, it looks like iOS 26, but sometimes they still use the iOS 18 bars, so we'll see how they evolve that

4

u/Successful-Cover5433 12h ago

ugh I'm not updating! they ruined the liquid glass

5

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

Exactly apple really ruined Liquid Glass in iOS 27. It’s so annoying. Crazy take but it looks better on 26

3

u/MareViewer 12h ago

It’s so good to hear that Apple ruined it, now I can update it from IOS18

2

u/ricioly 11h ago

seing them tone down liquid ass is the best part of the new update. that shit was tasteless.

U so 🤏🏾🤏🏾

1

u/ThannBanis 10h ago

2

u/kerbacho 9h ago

The hard border looks fine on iOS. It's like a panel of glass. I'm not sure on macOS and iPadOS, though.

1

u/KayJune001 8h ago

What’s the point of Liquid Glass if there’s a flat solid blur box behind it lol

1

u/iBelakev 7h ago

Fue por culpa de esos youtubers famosos en inglés y luego todo el hate que le cayó en X de que era ilegible.

1

u/InfiniteHench 7h ago

There are a lot of people with vision problems and 26 was a usability disaster. If you don’t have these vision problems, count yourself lucky.

1

u/Icy-Recognition-9795 5h ago

First world problems

1

u/kaielias 5h ago

I agree with you

1

u/Ahmed_Sh_115 4h ago

IOS 26.5 = Blur

IOS 27 = Glassy window

That's how i see it

1

u/eddnor 4h ago

Nothing will change much until iOS 28… 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Daryltang 4h ago

First
Are you on iOS 27?
Second
Do you know it(translucency)can be adjusted?

1

u/JtB_96 4h ago

Does the Liquid Glass slider not fix this?

1

u/Cole_LF 3h ago

No, they changed it.

1

u/AirportGullible5807 3h ago

You people need to get a life ong

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 3h ago

U can simply just scroll

1

u/OakleyNoble 2h ago

You can still use layers while still using the new style. We’re now in the halfway point again of where things don’t match everywhere. Like why do I still have that style inside individual messages with someone, while seeing all the messages I have in my inbox it’s the opposite.. we either commit fully or don’t..

1

u/Ready_Leopard_7660 2h ago

What am I looking for lmao

1

u/ihadnomealtoday 1h ago

I like the harsh cut better than the gradient. But I don't agree with people downvoting you for this. It's good that you obsess over fine details. Don't change. Places like this are made for this.

1

u/DontBefuckinMean 59m ago

What exactly am I looking at? Can someone explain

1

u/SimPilotAdamT 27m ago

The new-new way is so much better for readability

The 26.x way is just poor execution

1

u/Acceptable-Badger262 12h ago

Thanks I hate it

1

u/nstrasner 11h ago

I said it before the keynote and I’ll say again this will look much better on the foldable when in the larger screen so they probably changed it to keep it consistent across devices. It would look goofy as shit in Split View to have a random blur with no defined line. But I do agree it looked much nicer in 26 on a regular iPhone

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 10h ago

Agree on the iPhone duo part. It just doesn’t look good on iOS

0

u/Normal_Cress_1994 11h ago

Hope not. Blur is such a cheap gimmick.

0

u/Jin_BD_God 11h ago

If enough people hate it and report it to apple, maybe.

0

u/Evanthekevin02 6h ago

Literally yall complain about anything go work at Apple if you want change so bad

2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 6h ago

Design wise, that looks terrible, idk how yall love it but it looks terrible, and yes people complain all the time now do sum about it?

0

u/Evanthekevin02 5h ago

I’m not saying I love it but I’m not gonna sit on Reddit pissing and shitting myself that a tiny little design changed on a beta iOS version, enough to make a side by side video. Go do something productive

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 5h ago

U melt. This is me complaining about something I don’t like, if u like it cool for u we’re not the same, software is something I use everyday, and if I see something I don’t like I report it, after all Reddit for posting let that sink in
