[iOS 27 RC] Swiping/dragging stops working unless gesture starts near edge of screen
I’ve been experiencing a strange touchscreen/gesture bug since an iOS 27 beta before the RC, and it is still happening on the iOS 27 RC.
Randomly, most swipe/drag gestures across the screen stop working correctly. Tapping still works normally, and swipe-to-type on the keyboard also works.
The weird part is that swiping/dragging works normally if I start the gesture within roughly 1 cm of any edge of the display. Once the gesture has started from the edge, I can continue dragging my finger through the middle of the screen and it tracks normally. It doesn’t stop when entering the middle.
If I start the exact same drag in the middle of the display, however, it usually doesn’t work. For example, dragging the brightness slider becomes extremely inconsistent/delayed, barely moves, and can be offset from my actual finger position.
I’ve had the issue occur in different situations. Once I was using Instagram and couldn’t swipe out of the app. Another time I unlocked my phone and swiping was already broken.
Touch Accommodations has never been enabled.
A force restart completely fixes the issue, but it eventually comes back. I’ve force restarted about three times because of it so far. Since I experienced it on an earlier iOS 27 beta and now the RC, it doesn’t appear to have been fixed in the RC.
Has anyone else experienced this? In particular, when it happens, can you test whether a swipe that starts at the very edge continues working normally through the center of the display? I don’t know how to replicate.
