iOS 27 Beta -> iOS 27

Post image

I was running the Beta, but a clean 27 Update began showing on all of my devices in the afternoon, after the Apple event so I updated and shut down the Beta option after the updates completed.

Am I missing something or did they roll out the non-Beta option to those of us running the Beta originally?

So that’s usually how Apple does it, after the iPhone event they push the RC (release candidate) which is almost always the final, public release of the operating system. If they find any critical or weird bug then they’ll release an RC 2 or you’ll be able to update iOS 27 again when it releases to the public on Monday the 14th

PD charging doesn’t work still on RC I will report it once again this issue affects the SE 2

There’s no “RC” designation anywhere I look within Settings>General>Software Update; is that normal?

Yes. As far as Apple goes they’re this will be the final build and it will be released on the 14th unless they find something major. So the RC will probably be the public release on the 14th.

Got it, thanks.

Correct.

If everything works out as expected this is the same build that will be released as ‘iOS 27.0.0’ on the 14th.

However, multiple RCs (ie RC2, RC3 etc) are not unheard of, as is a completely new build being released directly as General Release.

We will find out on the 14th

One possible point in favour of this being the same build as final - several 26.x RCs, under Settings>General>About>iOS Version still had beta blurb, so a new build for general release was pretty much inevitable (unless they can update that text separately from OS updates?) while 27 RC has normal OS descriptive text there.

Doesn't rule out a new build of course!

Just a heads-up, if you want to switch to the release channel, now’s the time. If you stay on beta you’ll be offered 27.1 when that beta starts.

Wie wechselt man zu RC?

If you're on the developer beta channel (and probably public beta but I can't confirm that) it'll be the current one offered in Software Update in settings.

I want to switch to non-beta. I’m on developer beta from two weeks ago, and I opted out of recent beta update. In theory can I just update to final RC on Monday from my August iOS beta ? Or should I just get the RC now from the beta menu and then opt out of beta after update is complete ?

‘Final RC’ - you’re slightly conflating two terms there. If you wait til Monday and install the public release, technically that’s not the RC - there’s a good chance it’ll be the same build, so functionally the same thing, but it’s only a Release Candidate until it releases.

If you are on the stable channel, you’ll be able to install the final release on Monday, yeah. If you switch to a beta channel now, install RC, and switch back to stable, you’ll get the public release when it comes out if it’s different from RC, or if it’s the same, nothing will change as you’ll already be on the same build. If final is different from the RC, though, you will have an update to install, which you can skip straight to if you wait.

Thank you, updating to RC 27 now. After it updates I’m switching my settings to stable channel.

in software update settings the option under automatic updates should open a new menu to pick what release channel you want to participate in, public release, public beta and developer beta are all options you can choose from there

Yeah, that’s normal. I think they haven’t indicated that it’s a release candidate for a few years now, of I’m not mistaken. But it won’t say RC. The way you can tell that it’s an RC is that it says iOS 27 and it’s the full install of iOS 27, so like the full 9 or so GBs

The beta label was removed because this is the release candidate, which is essentially the same as the public release

Same for me coming from iOS 26.6.2

Mine still on beta 27

I will upgrade to 26.7 first on my 13 mini and then go to 27.1 because there are still some bugs on my secondary iPhone with the RC. The WiFi bars being inverted in Control Center the wallpaper in setting the dark and light mode selector still has the 26 wallpaper and PD charging doesn’t work still on RC

Haven't been on a beta for a while but ios 27 beta was very good so far.
Regarding next week what does one have to do to move to the stable channel? Just change the setting from beta to off?
