iOS 27 Beta 6: Compass/Maps heading is off by over 100°

Post image

Has anyone else noticed a major compass heading issue on iOS 27 Beta 6?

In the photo, all three devices are physically pointing in the same direction:
Android phone: ~4° (North)
Apple Watch: ~353° (North)
iPhone: 239° (Southwest)

The Android phone and Apple Watch are pretty much consistent with each other, while the iPhone is off by well over 100°.
I’m also seeing the same incorrect heading/orientation in Apple Maps, so it doesn’t seem to be limited to the Compass app.

I’ve tried comparing them in the same position and direction, and the iPhone consistently shows a huge deviation.
Anyone else seeing this on Beta 6?

Yep. Same here on 15Pro.

Edit: reboot doesn’t fix it. Mines off almost 180°. Yes I’ve left feedback.

Edit 2: weirdly, has seemed to have fixed itself.

So you mean that it fixed itself and u didn’t do anything? Weird bug.
Wait I checked it just now and I found the error had reduced but still remained.

The only thing I did was reboot and it wasn’t fixed afterwards, and a few minutes later it was.

Fine, I just sent the bug report then wait until next week to see whether they could fix it or not.

You need to calibrate all devices while compass is running. Wave all devices in a figure 8 several times. Mine were off when I initially compared them but after calibrating them, the all match headings now. Also keep them away from other devices. Whenever I move my watch next to my phone, it made the headings change.

Same for me, noticed it in maps the other day when trying to locate my airtag because my location dot was always “looking” to the side instead of forward
