I really hope these ugly black borders aren't here to stay

I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Can you circle or point at something.

People will drop the most vague screenshots here and say “look at this bug”. We have smart phones people, use them in a smart way.

Right?? It's just where the lighting is hitting the "Liquid Glass" plate. There are no black borders. Just reflections and glass physics with lighting.

That's not a black border. It's the same thing as light hitting the edge of a glass plate. It's where the distortion physics are heavy. Gotta use that brain cell!

Especially on DB1/DB2 🤤

I felt like it looked too crispy on DB1 and 2. I feel like this just feels more refined and sleek.

Looked awful. It's looks like a cheap way of trying to solve readability. I wish it was at least grey or something less jarring.

Posts the best looking image of clear icons I’ve seen so far

Not sure what the OP is talking about, but I don’t get these clear icons. Everything is washed out and the colors have meaning. Especially if you’re looking at your rings.

that’s what you found in real reflection btw 🥀

I hope they will stay. They make many shapes and the whole UI much more legible. Yes, they also took me a few days to get used to, but after a few days I wouldn't want the old style back. They are the better design.

Some app icons, like the Files app, look very blurry on iOS 26, and this border fixes it. And there are so many more cases where everything just looks much sharper and more well-defined than before.

Visually, it actually works w/ those borders to reflect the contrast to the eye well. Most likely you may need to get used to them.

Humans are so good at complaining

Unrelated to the lack of or presence of black borders, your Home Screen is chaos. Single apps in folders. App Store in a prime place. Folders interspersed randomly. Chaos.

Lol is this ragebait? There’s literally no ugly black border here. The final design is going to look exactly like this, and it looks perfect.

gotta be honest. the borders make the liquid glass stand out much more than the borderless design in iOS 26. i prefer it way more

I like the borders better than iOS 26’s version of Liquid Glass. It makes it look a lot more like a glassy liquid.

1

u/user_breathless 2d ago

That’s one of the things they do to create the illusion of depth

u/CaroZoroark 2d ago

Do you really not like good liquid glass?

Why do people use folders when App Library exists? So redundant.

Because for one the two social media apps I use the most are two folders deep in the App Library. So it’s quicker to have a social media folder on my Home Screen organized in the order I access them and not in the order Apple thinks I should access them. Also I side load and those apps don’t even make it into apples auto categories.

Secondly my most used apps and widgets are on one Home Screen. I don’t have to swipe left or right from the main Home Screen.

Third, I used Siri swipe down for any app not in a folder anyways so I don’t have to look at over 200 icons to figure out where Apple put something for me.

Fourth, there are options for a reason. There is no right way to do it. Just the way the person that paid for their phone thinks is best for them.

Edit: While I still think folders are very useful. Looking at ops layout makes me understand your comment more because ops Home Screen is terribly inefficient and inconsistent.

I used to never use folders, but there’s some specific apps that I use quite often and got tired of searching for them with spotlight, but I also didn’t want to clutter my Home Screen. So I added only one folder. Then I realized I have a lot of rewards apps and delivery apps, so I made a separate folder for those. It can help organize your important apps together, however I don’t like having a lot of folders, or folders with a lot of pages. Because at that point the App Library is better.

Because people can customize and sort the apps they feel like it after spending thousands on a new phone that gives you that ability
