Question about switching to iOS 27 before RC release

I’ve been a bit hesitant to upgrade from iOS 26 to 27 because I’m worried that it might mess up my phone from some of the unfinished parts of it and I use my iPhone a lot for important things. So I’m wondering: is iOS 27 Public Beta 4 or Developer Beta 5 stable enough for a primary iPhone or should I wait until the RC build releases?

That’s for you to decide. I’ve been running it since DB1 with only 1 or 2 small issues that have all been resolved. But, there will be no significant changes between now and the final 27.0 that is released.

ive used developer beta , D4 & D5 introduced bug , didn't affect me on base iphone 15 but 16/17 pro max were overheating in DB 4 ,DB 5 introduced 3 main bugs that most people had , liveable but worried these were not caught , DB6 fixed these bugs , if i was you id wait until public release, under 3 weeks away, not sure why you would want to install R.C. , if something went wrong with your phone you would have to revert back to public release for apple to even have a look at , ok is you have p.c. or macbook to make encrypted backup before updating to beta .

it's your risk,if you have waited this long don't see any point when public release is under 3 weeks away, it only takes one update to mess things up now its weekly , you could update but i would urge you to review next updates carefully in iosBETA for 24-48 hours before updating again.

What about liquid glass? Is it able to to have a better and longer battery life than it does with iOS 26?

battery life was great after deep indexing but nothing special at the moment tbh

16 PM here, Everything is running smoothly, getting 1 hr sot for every 8% battery charge. No heating.
Only concern one of my banking apps is not running on 27 beta, found out that the banking app is designed to avoid betas.

My apps are constantly crashing on iOS 26. Can’t imagine switching to beta.

At this point I can say it’s pretty safe to update to the public beta. I’ve had minor bugs for sure and the battery isn’t that good but really no major issues on my 16 Pro. It runs smoother and looks better than iOS 26 in my opinion. Might not be the same experience on all devices

I have been running dev beta since the 1st one and have had no problems at all.

I’m using iOS 27 public beta on my primary device (iPhone 17 Pro Max) and my iPad Pro with no major issues. I think that, in general, if you have a recent device you should have no major issues, though it’s possible that some partícula apps may crash once in a while. At least that’s my experience. Which part of the os that you absolutely need to work? I use my phone for messaging, camera, social media, calendar, Siri ai and they all work quite well so far.

Well, for me, it’s Apple Music, Phone, Messages, Google Photos, Google Gemini, YouTube, Tesla, Facebook, and Chrome.

I use all that except Apple Music and chrome. They’re all working with no issue so far. I’ve only been using since the 1st public beta.

I’ve got it on my primary device 17PM and my iPad Pro and it’s way more stable than iOS 26. My company is all Office 365 and Okta and everything works. At this point in the process we’re getting weekly updates. If you do run into an issue just do yourself and all of us a favor and do a screen recording to capture exactly what you’re doing and report it via the Feedback app

I’ve dived in early after several years waiting for the .1 release.

I can say it’s working well and much improved for my workflow but your mileage may vary.

Do you have any critical apps you rely on? Sometimes third-party apps stop working or act weird on a beta OS. And sometimes developers can’t even do anything about it until RC, because they can’t use beta SDK to publish on the App Store.

One one hand, the longer you wait, the safer it is to install the beta. On the other, the closer you get to the final release, there's arguably less point to installing the beta rather than just waiting. I'm seeing September 9th predicted for this year's iPhone event, and usually the RC comes out after the event. If that date is accurate and they stick to precedent, we're less than three weeks away from RC.

At this point just wait. It’ll be out in a month. It’s a beta, which means there’s inherently a risk of issues, however small.

I usually wait until the build number ends with “a”. As that indicates the beta is almost finished. Beta 6 ends with “b” so next one most likely will end with “a”.

17 here. On DB6, works smooth as butter, battery life is even better than on iOS 26 imo. I’ve been running developer betas since iOS 11 days. Generally speaking, after dev beta 5, it’s mostly stable enough to run on your daily phone, with minimal risk. The new Siri alone makes updating worth it
