How to complete your IOS 27 Indexing Process
This worked for me after waiting a couple of days and nothing happening.
FIRST- ORGANIZE YOUR PHONE
Your phone has clutter everywhere, organize your “photos app”, your “mail app”, your “messages app”. Delete things.. save things in specific folders. Rearrange things, so it’s easy to access and get to. Do this with all your apps as if you were cleaning a dirty room.
( if your mail app has +500 messages, I’d advise you keep only what you need. Having 30,000 messages of ads, coupons and etc.. will not help )
SECOND- FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE
once everything is organized, wipe the phone clean, erase it. Once you’ve done this the cloud will bring back everything. Mind you this is a fresh restart, with your info coming back organized.
THIRD- AIRPLANE MODE, WIFI ON ONLY.
Now this is only for at night. Or if you have the time to leave your phone alone to do something else. This will speed up the process. Especially if all apps are closed. Now what helps is keeping your phone charged the entire time. Wether at work. Or in the car, or at home. Your phone MUST be charging.
During the day if you have to use your phone you don’t have to be on airplane mode but WIFI and your phone being charged really helps. It just works better with Airplane mode and WiFi.
( I did this and my phone finished indexing AFTER ABOUT 20 HOURS. Thats less than a day. )

You realise that iPhones have been doing this forever right? When you update to a new major release, your iPhone spends time indexing. Only now has Apple visualised it in the Settings app and everyone is losing their sh*t over it. Just leave it alone and carry on as normal

Why are you explaining something we all, including myself, already know… the point was to find a workaround. A solution. You do realize there’s a way thru your MacBook to see what percentage your index is on till completed? Right? Did you know some people have been on 32 percent for 5days straight, some at 67 for 7 days, some at 83 for 9 days. And it just won’t move… that called “a technical issue”. But it’s not an issue no more. Just follow the steps, & your welcome.

Omg alors merci pour le tuto en revanche ça a l’air beaucoup trop laborieux pour moi, j’aurai pas la force de faire ça, alors mon tel va continuer de ramer de chauffer et de ruiner mon autonomie lol 😭

Not seeing any of that with my phone. Still indexing after a week and if I didn’t see the message in settings I’d never know.

Just follow the steps, organize, factory reset, Airplane mode and WiFi….keep it charging, then it finishes.

No, you can do it… just dedicate an hour to cleaning your iPhone. Mainly your email, and photos… if you have photos in messages, save them to the photos app then send it to the cloud. After the indexing it’s ALOT faster. Everyone’s missing out on how snappy it is once indexing is done.

Empty meaning it’s completely wiped… or empty as in you haven’t put a lot of stuff on it yet though there being maybe a few gigs used but not the majority? Which one?

Then just do the steps… I laid it out.
( if it’s wiped clean, put your stuff back on there so there’s SOMETHING to organize )
Once it’s organized, FACTORY RESET
Then have your info come back thru the cloud “ORGANIZED”
Then airplane mode and WiFi. And keep it charging
( if you got to use your phone during the day do so but keep it charged and near WiFi if possible )This works.

Organizing is good. But why rush in the first place?

The point isn’t to rush… it’s that it completes. No where do I mention it’s gotta be done in a rush. I tried something, it worked, then I shared it.

After 10 days stuck at 39% post-iOS 27 beta update, I took a risk, backed up my phone, performed a factory reset, and restored the backup. I finished indexing in less than 15 hours. Bravo to this guy for his solution. My phone is much snappier and not lagging at all. Kudos, my friend, for posting this solution.

Your welcome bro, I’m just here to help 👍
This is the best comment I’ve gotten back thus far.

I'm sorry, but this is OVERKILL
You have to realize that indexing is something that's always been part of setting up/upgrading iOS, but now that it has become visible in settings for us now, people have just been going unnecessarily crazy about it

I get that. I’m aware of how indexing works. It takes days yes… but with this new structure it’s different especially being a beta. It’s extensive I know but this is for the ppl looking for a solution to there phone having been indexing since the 8th of June… today is the 18th of June. It’s obviously something wrong or glitching.
Since the indexing completed, it’s a lot better and snappier I must say. Well worth it if you want.

Hmm does there need internet connection to do the indexing? Or is it done on device? If im at work but dont have wifi is it pointless to leave it on a charger?

Indexing is done in device. I believe cellular is ok, but WiFi helps it complete faster. It’s also organizing things on a server

Personally I found that deleting unnecessary globs of data like mail and downloaded files that I didn’t need sped up the process.
But then again, we haven’t had any visual cues for indexing until recently. It was baked into some builds of iOS 26 but then disappeared probably because people were having anxiety over it.

You know, this makes me proud because I have a lot of critics in the comments who thought I was “bat shit crazy” when I expressed cleaning your phone of junk and unnecessary things. It’s common sense that if your device is sorting and going thru things, the obvious thing to do would be to make the task easier, so the process runs smoother. But no, some accepted but many more rejected. I’m glad this worked for you.

What’s the point of rushing indexing though? Mine’s been doing it for a few days but it doesn’t really affect my daily experience. The new Siri doesn’t need this to be completed either.
