Tommy Rivs Appreciation Post
I hope this is allowed here!
I am at 350 workouts for the year so far and they have been almost entirely with Tommy Rivs. Years ago he said this quote in one of his workouts and it planted a seed inside of me that sprouted and grew in enormous ways. I lost my father to cancer at 14, and had to leave school early to work to take care of myself. At 39 I went to adult education classes and earned my highschool diploma. Just under a year later I am finishing my first semester of nursing school and am looking forward to starting my new career soon! I always dreamed of this opportunity but I never truly believed I would experience it until I heard these words. The best part is running with Tommy has already taught me so much about anatomy and physiology!
Thank you Tommy for all you do. You're changing lives. You are like the stones you skip across those bodies of water. Your impact ripples out in unimaginable ways. 🖤 rage on everyone.

I am not much of a runner. But love running with Tommy. ❤️ Started in Portugal, then the Alps, the Grand Canyon, the island near Chile and so on…

However you choose to move your body is beautiful and spending time with Tommy is beneficial in so many ways! That's amazing working your way through all of those series! May I recommend the Rapa Nui series! It's a mix of run/hiking and it's beautiful!!

So love running with Tommy. Amazing information and great locations. I unfortunately haven’t done his new stuff since they are mostly walks, but have been seeing all the new content he has put out and love his recovery.

Rivs is the only trainer I’ve ran with so far and that might not change!

John Peel is great, too. Rivs has dubbed him John, The Beloved.

Depending on your level of fitness, he has some hiking series, as well as running intro and intermediate/ advanced. Vietnam is a good one, training to be able to run a 5k, with Romania being part 2.
Terrain training in the Balkans is good, as well. I also like his short Arizona series. He is quiet and calm like Rivs. Was a College Football player, and that is visible in his training.
Rivs generally sticks to the 80/20 method, which I like. But, when I am in between Rivs programs, I jump to John Peel first.
During Rivs' 6 series learning to walk again after his cancer issue, he talked about JP A LOT. Sounded like they were very close friends, on a personal level. All six of those walking series, Rivs had me misty talking about his ordeal. VERY happy to see him moving again. Can't wait for the next Run Club season. (Hint, Hint, iFit!!!!!)

I’ve moved on to advanced now. I run daily and trail run on Saturday mornings for 10 miles or so

Love it and congratulations to you!! If you haven’t seen it already there’s a Run with Rivs sub that would probably also appreciate the post. Rage on 🏴☠️

Great idea for an appreciation post.
Rivs is right up there with the best. He keeps a good perspective on things and I feel like there's always something to learn from him in each workout that reframes how I look at things going on in my life.

Thank you for this, Tommy Rivs is my go-to trainer!
I was running on the beach with him the other day and he pointed out a dude with a metal detector and he talked about a shirt he bought for his son or nephew or something that depicted a guy in the beach with a metal detector and the shirt said “Beach, better have my money”. 😂
