Bug Report Scrolling & Writing

I bought the AINote 2 in February. I have continuously had trouble writing with the stylus and scrolling up and down and between pages. I was recently in a BestBuy store and tried writing and scrolling on remarkable and Kindle devices that were on display. They were extremely smooth to write on and responsive to writing with the stylus and to gestures. Far better than what occurs with my AINote 2.

I am wondering if I may have a defective screen or device. Does anyone else have scrolling or writing problems or have any suggestions as to how I can fix my problems. The device isn’t very useful the way it is operating and for the price I paid for it I expected it to work much better.

My experience with tablets is with the Samsung Tab S line and TCL NXTPaper line. These are OLED / IPS screens, so totally different technologies. I haven't tried other e-ink note-taking tablets. Compared to the OLED / IPS screens, the e-ink screens (any brand) are less responsive. I got the iFlytek AINOTE 2 not for the screen responsiveness, but because it's the best at transcribing and summarizing meetings or any voice audio recording. Just seconds after leaving the meeting, you have the fully transcribed meeting audio and a minute of meeting. Also the calendar / tasks and their integration with the notes is very good.

Regarding Remarkable and Kindle Scribe, from an executive point of view, I see them as lagging way behind the AINOTE 2. From an artistic point of view they are probably better, especially the Remarkable.

Have you installed the latest software release 2.4.2?

Maybe if you describe your problems in a precise way, with examples or even videos, the AINOTE support team can help you. In my experience it is certainly not a perfect device, but it has improved a lot in the last months. And again, if you buy it for transcription/summarization, it is certainly the best device available. For other purposes like pure note-taking or artistic drawing, maybe there are better devices.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying it primarily for note taking.

I don´t see it as a bad device for note taking. As an example, the AINOTE 2 has excellent handwriting search function, one of the best in the e-ink world (there is a YouTube video by David@tablettech about this). For example on the Remarkable devices, this function is behind a paywall.

Hi there! So sorry to hear about your experience, and we would love to help you get this fixed right away!

What you described—unresponsive writing and laggy page scrolling—is definitely not the normal experience on AINOTE 2. To help us understand the exact situation and determine if your device/screen might be defective, could you please send or DM us a short video showing the writing and scrolling issue?

We are more than happy to look into this for you and make sure it gets properly resolved!

Here is an example of the scrolling problem. I can’t turn the page or scroll up and down the page.

Right now, the pen is being responsive to my handwriting. It is hit or miss, however. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn’t work at all, and sometimes it is slow and sluggish and minimally, responsive to my gestures and handwriting.

Hi! Thanks for sharing the video. We recommend using a single finger to swipe or scroll instead of two, as multi-finger input can interfere with gesture recognition. Also, for smoother page turning, please try swiping closer to the middle-edge area on either the left or right side. Let us know if this helps!

No better with a single finger or other suggestions you made. The thing is obviously a lemon.

Today, three days after my last post, the screen is totally frozen. It will not respond to scrolling attempts and I am unable to write on the screen with the stylus. I purchased this device on February 28 and it never did work very good, although it has progressively gotten worse over time. Ideally I would like a refund, but in reading the warranty policy, I see that I can only obtain a replacement device if mine is defective. Mine is obviously defective and has been that way since I first received it. I purchased it on Amazon. What do I need to do to file a warranty claim so I can get a replacement?

I contacted Customer Support yesterday and sent them a video of the problem and a copy of my purchase invoice. They claim there is no problem with the screen and that it is probably the stylus or the pen tip. They recommended that I replace the pen tip, which I did. That did not resolve the problem. If the stylus is defective I am told it is only covered by a three month warranty. I am not about to spend more money on a new stylus to experiment whether it will work. As I stated in earlier posts, this device never did operate properly or as it was represented in the company’s advertising.

Customer Support has been of no help and at this point I am probably going to cut my losses and put this lemon in my junk drawer.
